  1. even back then (perhaps especially back then) we were more likely to conceed 6 than score 6. I recall a 7 goal thumping at the Valley on the first day of the season, one in which we took about 8 games to get off the mark.
  2. beautiful work.
  3. beautiful work.
  4. decent in the air, isn't that what we'e hankered for all season? He looked a little shakey to me, but he won a fair amount in the air and hopefully will teach Lancashire a few things.

    We will stay up

I always felt that in the Premiership but I'm struggling to see enough quality in the squad.
  6. Davis 8 - had to make too many saves for my liking. Playing with great confidence -thankfully James 5 - as usual not bad on the ball (he looked very composed) but defensively he doesn't get tight enough or win enough in the air. He's improved in the last few weeks but this was the same old fare IMO. I think he saved a certain goal. Perry 6 last gasp (on his arse) stuff too often tells me he is well past his best. Gives his all mind. Kept a higher line than against Manure which helped. Still too many chances in the air from set peices shows up his lack of height. Seijs 7 A ball winner. Hallelujah. He improved as the game went on after a shakey start. His height is crucial with the lack of it around him. We could do with another like him especially for games against the likes of Watford. Molyneux 6 I thought their wide man caused him problems but for a debut he didn't do too bad. I don't think he has much to live up to in Skacel, but he's certainly no Bridge/Bale. I don't want to judge him until he's been here a couple of months though. Schneiderlin 6 he looks so good on the ball but he fails to control the game for long periods. Needs to do far more especially when it comes to competing for second balls. I can't recall a decent tackle in the game. Its essential he stays fit though as Gillett has not done enough. Surman 6 some decent runs off the ball that weren't found. Him and Schneiderlin are OK on the ball, but neither grab enough second ball. Our soft centre hurts us now we are not dominating posession. Lallana's return will help. McGoldrick 4 I personally think he works harder when he leads the line rather than plays in the hole. In that position he looks lost (not knowing when to get in the biox and when to drop off). Decent goal but has to byst a gut to be there more often. BWP 3 get to the byeline FFS. I'm a fan but he looks lost out wide. He needs to play upfront running the channels. Saga 3 never seemed to be where the ball was. For me he needs a big man t play off. Not someone that leads the line on his own. Holmes 5 Busy as always but compare the threat he offered to that of Cambell Ryce. His lack of pace means he never got past the full back.
  7. oh I forgot that your opinion is FACT on here.
  8. hardly noticed him at all. Overhyped.
  9. Certainly glad we have got shot of the laziest player in Saints' history. McGoldrick needs to do more, but at least he leaves the centre circle now and then. Stern was actually extremely pacey but no Saints fan would know it as he just could not be bothered. Most players that come through the ranks get much more support from their own fans.
  10. does more than Stern John. Did you moan about him last season?
  11. I seem to recall people saying the same thing about Surman, Davis, Fuller...
  12. so you are comparing McGoldrick with MLT and Shearer, two of the best Premiership players ever? Tough audience. Let me remind you that that MLT, BT and others have all struggled for any sort of consistency in their earlier years. McGoldrick is no Shearer but I still think he shows promise and should be given more leeway by fans. I personally will continue to back him and with a bit of luck he will prove you all wrong.
  13. heard nothing all week except the need for Saga. He did **** all by the way, yet its McGoldrick that is still slated. Get off the lads back. He's 22 and only 30 games into his Saints career. Great result today, thought we deserved that little bit of luck tha turned what could easily have been a defeat into a win. After stuffing Reading and only getting a point I think we deserved a change of fortune. Great days. Perhaps if more travelled away from home and saw us win then this board would be a better place for it.
  14. Excellent? Don't make me laugh. He's twinkled his toes Anders Svensson like and then done next to nothing anders svensson like. His work rate is spot on but end product? Still waiting. I need to see a shed lot more from him before I start using the term excellent.
  15. I see Skacel has an `injury'.
  16. Bentner and Lita up front, Dailly and Saeijs at the back, Schneiderlin and Pele in the middle, Surman and Lallana on the wings. Now that's Dreaming...
  17. Steve appears to be on the money (these Titchfield lads talk a lot of sense you know). He's one of the few pundits that says it how he sees it (and he watches a lot of local games) rather than just regirgitating the same old ****.
  18. did they also think he was not good enough?
  19. I agree, another big centre half instead of Perry and a right back that can win things in the air. We might then stop shipping goals from set peices. I also agree we need a target man. Saga does nothing for me. But why on earth would we want Wotton back in the team?
  20. you rate him as highly as me then.
  21. that's the impression I got. With the `player wages' advert in the Echo you'd think that they were working to get rid of Euell, Saganowski and Skacel. But they will look to replace them with cheaper versions if possible. I think another CB wouldn't go a miss. I'd also like to see defensive midfielder that can actually control the football (ie not Gillett) as we are lightweigth with the non tackling Surman and Schneiderlin. The entire right side could also do with a revamp IMO. There is not a right sided midfielder at the club making 4-4-2 difficult unless we play attackers like Smith or BWP.

    Lallana fitness

He has been carrying it for weeks. Shame he misses out this week though. We need to get him back in the side and get our passing game going.
  23. Not neccessarily. If he plays then we can't offload him to a European side - which might be essential financially.
  24. and this one is the best yet.
