Calm down dear. Of course Saga has only played one (mind you he wasn't actually prolific last season was he with his massive 3 goals in total). I was just highlighting how pathetic your name calling is. It makes me laugh how precious people are about Dobie on here whilst at the same time laying into McGoldrick who is in his first full season in the first team.

are these kids likely to be allowed to come over here (as Beckham was) and are they going to want to? If they are good enough then get them over here. Great idea, we need whatever help we can get and as Lowe said a few years back we need to be innovative.

how about a lifetime season ticket for £5k
-
So standard match day tickets are reduced by 26%, but season ticket prices are only reduced by 15%. Using your prices buying a ST will therefore effectively get me 6 free games - compared to if I was going to go to every game paying on the gate. Using your figures I wouold seriously consider not bothering getting a ST next season and I got my first back in 1984.

I don't actually understand Luker when he says that Season ticket holders didn't lose out when Forrest ticket prices were reduced by £9. That is simply not true. The wholepoint of buying a ST is that you get a discount by buying in bulk. If the price of a single match day ticket is then reduced (half way through a season) the saving ST holders end up making is also reduced. Obviously a one off is OK but Lukers's already talking about another game and perhaps even the last few homes games are being considered. In the sales brochure it actually publishes the fact that X savings are made when you buy a ST (I can't remember the exact amount). If the club then lowers match day prices then this is savings figure becomes inaccurate. £380 ST, match day ticket 23 x £24 = £552 Saving £172 If ticket prices are reduced to £15 (as with the Forest game) then this savings figure goes down by £9 each time. Yes it doesn't cost season ticket holders any extra money when prices are reduced, but if lets say for arguements sake that another 4 games are reduced on top of the forest game, that will be a toal of £45 removed from my overall £172 saving. Still a saving I agree, but this is a lot less attractive than was originally advertised. If you chuck in a couple of games missed due to weddings/illness or whatever then before you know it the ST hardly looks worth it. IMO the club needs to be very careful indeed about possibly upsetting the 10,000 ST holders in an effort to get some of the 15,000 more `casual' attendees (no offence intended to any non season ticket holders) back to SMS. I would love to see the ground full with reduced prices but these prices need to be set out clearly at the start of the season, otherwise ST holders are going to feel they have been conned, simply will not bother to renew and in the end that WILL lower attendances in the long run. ST holders are the lifeblood of the club make no mistake about it. Treat them like idiots at your peril.

YOU HAD A NUMBER OF CLUBS INTERESTED IN YOU WHEN YOU LEFT DERBY, WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SOUTHAMPTON? I actually had a spell in Holland last season and that’s probably where Jan Poortvliet and his staff first saw me play. He spoke to me when he took over at Southampton and told me what he thought my role in the team was going to be and I was impressed with what he had to say. I also spoke to the chairman and everything just felt right, they are a massive club.

The echo talked about additional signing though, I wonder if these are dependant on Euell and Skacel leaving.

League games, but does Manure not count then?

he has been extremely unluck with injuries meaning he has been in and out of the side. He hasn't always played left back for them either, In his first seaon he seemed to play left midfield most of the time. OK so he dived in a couple of times and was well beaten - all shown up on TV - but IMO he is still a decent defender (as well as attacker). he has good pace, is good in the air, doesn't mind a tackle and doesn't ball watch. Add to this a fantastic first touch, good passing technique and the ability to actually beat people. What he might be is a little niave. He also thinks that he is a little quicker than really is - so at times is not getting to the ball ahead of oponents - like he did constanty for us. IMO he is a great talent and people quickly forget how important he was for us in our play off season. He was our entire attack at times.
-
depending how well we are playing, whether it was two run against the play hardluck story type goals, or two totally deserved goals will make a difference. If it was the latter I will probably be silent and back to thinking we are doomed. Until that happens lets get behind the lads though aye.

I read it as Saga and Seijs, as apposed to new people training with us such as Daily and Lupoli.
-
don't you mean Saganothingonthescoresheetyet and David 2 in 3 McGoldrick?
-
Fulham play in the Premiership against world class oponents showing up his lack of pace and height, we play in the CCC where world class players are few and far between. I doubt Rangers will buy Baird - they have massive financial problems hence willing to sell any of their players. They might loan him though.
-
I can't see Spurs signing Surman, he's not an arry player at all IMO and after Nugent and Bale both flopped in front of him I think he would be weary iof a CCC player. Arry looks for finished items rather than work in progress, plus he is looking at £10m midfield signings from Wigan. Lallana is different IMO as he is more in the Wiltshire/Ramsey mould. Whether anyone is willng to pay the £5-6m Ramsey costs is another matter.
-
see post #43. I would expect Brum to sign him should West Ham be open to a deal. As much as I liked Quashie when he was here, his display at QPR when he decided he was going to leave still leaves me fuming.
-
they all seem just, well just a little beyond 2nd bototm in the CCC. Baird's connection with the club make him a candidate. Another thing to consider is that players going on 4 month loans won't really want to move from the North to Southampton if they can help it n- and there are plenty of northern CCC sides as alternatives.
-
you've ruined my day.
-
faced with a similar choice - being a reserve at a premiership club on a premierhip wage, or POSSIBLE first teamer at a CCC on a CCC wage, I'm not sure what I'd do. the fact is we should have got him and Cranie signed to long term deals and then loaned them out for full seasons at a time with the assurance that they were wanted here in the long term. If they were given the right length contract, assurances and appropriate wage for their ability and potential they would have been here now. Sadly we ****ed uop and left it too late to tie them down to a deal allowing them to get a better deal elsewhere. Shame.
-
I thought he looked good in the first team and was surprised that he was dropped whilst James continued, he certainly got stuck in - which I like a lot, and he seemed to have the pace required.
-
yep Pele would do it for me too (I suggested him on the HCDAJFU thread) and he would provide far better CB cover as well than Wotton/Lancashire. Damien Plessis might fit the premiership youngster bill.

what happened to "Surman and Lallana off as soon as window opens"
Chez replied to Ken Tone's topic in The Saints
The club is looking to keep Surman and Lallana (unless a `proper' offer comes in) and that's why Lowe is doing everything he can to offload Saga, Skacel and Euell. If those three stay then Lowe will have to consider much lower offers for SUrman and Lallana. Its as simple as that. -
I disagree with this point. I know training is competitive but its in matches where players really stretch themselves to the limit as well as getting proper knocks from oponents.
-
on a further months loan that ends on 23rd Jan. Nafti is available and could do a job.
-
very very good point. As much as I like parts of Surman and Schneiderlin's games neither provides the right sort of protection for our back four nor hussles the opposition nearly enough. Any ideas who might fit the role?

is lowe waiting for the transfer window to close...
Chez replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
I disagree about the Gillet sub in that game. It backfired but at the time it was exactly what i woud have done - take a tired McGoldrick off and get a defensive midfielder on. There have been successful substitutions, Preston away for example, 2-0 down, JP brings on Gobern and BWP and we come back to win 3-2. Away at Charlton we were being mugged by Charlton. JP brings on Pearce at half time and we never looked like conceeding. I'm not JP's biggest fan - clueless is a term I have used on a few occasions, but he does do somethings right.
