some of those quotes from Southend fans remind me of the quotes from Luton fans when we took Perry off their hands. I know many on here rate Perry (not me actually) so perhaps that will make you feel better. I'm a little concerned though as everything Millwall/Leicester fans said about Smith was right and more often than not the fans know when players are really good or really ****e.
-
so not only have we signed a centre back but we have also confirmed that we won't be going into adminstration before the season ends. Great news.
-
but where does it leave us financially now that we have failed to shift Euell, Skacel and Saga nor got reasonable bids for Dyer, Surman, Kelvin or Lallana.
-
who cares. I don't want to see either of his feet in the first team.
-
Killer and Thomas out for the season, Wotton can't play at CB (we saw that earlier in the season) leaving Lancashire as our only real cover for a limited Chris Perry. Lancashire has failed to shine so a CB was essential IMO. Mind you so was a CM and a right back. I have no idea how good this guy is but if he is as good as Seijs (has shown so far) then he will be a very good signing.

brilliant news. I've been saying for donkeys that we need to replace Perry with a big solid centre back offering height, pace and ability on the ball. For all Perry's comittment in the tackle he is poor at set peices, slow on the turn and terrible on the ball. I hope this fella is decent.

as apposed to Ipswich who agreed a fee but walked away at the sight of Rudi's wage demands. Tha fact remains no one wants him, his fee and his wages.
-
Skacel wanted out, we needed him off the wage bill, a move meant everyone won. The only ones that win now are the fans as perhaps maybe just maybe we won't have to suffer Holmes doing **** all down our left side.
-
why? As has been said on here many times it was him that wanted away last January and he has been trying and failing to find another club ever since.
-
absolutely. Slightly worrying seeing Norwich signing these players, we need every side at the bottom to keep on struggling as we don't look like we are going to win 2 or 3 on the bounce.
-
have you got Dyer on the back of yours then?
-
how on earth are Swansea being pressed into a corner? They have the fella for 6 months no matter what (unless someone else comes in at the 11th hour to buy him) allowing them the luxery of observing him at first hand to know his true value. They also have until the end of the season to arrange a deal with us in advance of the window closing. Clearly they rate him highly already and know the longer he puts in great displays for them the more likely they will have to pay a higher fee. They are just trying to get him on the relative cheap. Fair play to them for making a judgement so quickly but buying clubs are never pushed into a corner - if they don't like the deal they can just walk.
-
what made you so sure Skacel would not get another club?
-
great. Well until someone does lets get hold of him and develop him into a top top player.
-
funny, watching McLaggon on Saturday they seeemd very similar indeed - pacey, extremely lightweight, poor touch at times
-
team full of Saints and Skates Pericard Fuller Salif Diao Andy Faye Andy Griffin
-
Seijs and Davies. That would have been a terrific partnership. Never a hope of us being able to afford him seeing as we were more than happy to get rid in the first place.
-
if you've been then its somewhere you can never forget.
-
he prefers a passing game and we just hoofed.
-
from the Itchen it looked like a bad foul to me, easily worth a yellow in its right never mind combined with all the other fouls he comitted. Martinez was right to be upset as it was an uncalled for challenge. He was behind the player and lunged at him wraping both legs around the guy. How on earth we got a free kick from it I will never know. I thought Wotton had a very good game and his constant kicking inspired the other Saints players to do the same. Tactically Wotte got it right as Wotton was in the right place time after time in the first half. However I would say that Wotton is so slow and that is why he is fouling all the time. He simply can't get close enough or keep uo so has to hack them.
-
if he plays like that every week he will be suspended for half the season. it pains me to say to say it but do we have any other options?
-
slightly different financial status' though. Their chairman cleared their massive debts, ours...
-
I'm not so sure you can recall season long loans.
-
thats a logical assessment of the situation. Plus Dyer has at last found some form so lets benefit from that.
-
true, but we really need fullbacks that don't get beat all hands up by any winger that can dribble or run, and win headers every now and then
