  1. There are things in the credit column with Rupert - stadium, improvements to academy, radio station, FA Cup final, 8th place, world class catering. Obviously a sizeable debit column. It's been mentioned once or twice. But Sport Republic have so far done fuck all except the worst managerial appointment in Premier League history and spending loads of money on too many players with an average age of 19. All those who remember this season They won't forget what they've seen Destruction of a club in its prime Their average age was nineteen
  2. Well, Pompey seemed to like him, so he must have a level somewhere.
  3. Armstrong scored 28 and Adams 22 in their last seasons down there so its not a massive stretch to think they'd be pretty good down there. I like that the manic depressives can go from moaning "we've signed Championship standard players" to immediately moaning that those same players will actually also be rubbish in the Championship as well.
  4. A year in the Championship might not make him a better keeper but he could well be a perfectly good keeper for us in the Championship. Two things not necessarily the same thing. Kelvin Davies famously couldn't hack the Prem but was a good keeper in the Championship for us and Ipswich.
  5. Chelsea being dragged into it.

You're not taking it well, are you.

£150m earlier Hasenhuttl kept us very safely in this division so that is obviously disputable. Unless genuinely you're saying that Romeu and Jack Stephens were completely irreplaceable.
  8. It doesn't matter what all those fans think today or yesterday. Bournemouth are going down with us, Forest aren't going to go down now. Forest's form can fall off a cliff because they only need relegation form for the rest of the season to stay up (they need less than a point a game now). Saints need top 8 form to achieve the same thing. Forest have got enough points in the tank to survive now, we haven't. We can beat Leicester next week, great. We're still going down because that win will keep us bottom or second bottom. You can pretend it is just a knee jerk reaction to particular results and you can pretend you are the objective one but sorry not the case. You can see it in the numbers. It's not an "objective" view that our form is going to switch from worst in the league to top 8 level just because we wish it so. Sorry I need to stop going on about it. But the obvious point to make is the true "believers" that think we are going to stay up would think exactly the same if we were in Forest's position (still only six points off top 10!!) or West Ham's position (we've just spanked Forest!!) or Leeds position (we've just won a criticalgame under our new manager!!). So not that objective.
  9. EVERYONE SAID MAN WOULD NEVER WALK ON THE MOON
  10. KWP has been injured/recovering, three of those players joined in January, two of them on the 31st. So "never once ever been tried" is a bit melodramatic being that you would be hard pressed to find many matches where this team could have been picked anyway. And Caballero is a 41 year old makeweight for fucks sake.
  11. 41 year old in goal, a front three with a grand total of zero Premier League goals, a midfield that would get overrun putting pressure on a back four which has been involved in plenty of shitty defensive displays over and over again. DCC less so but give it time. That's a "so what" team - there's no magic formula there that that specific team is going to be some wonder team.
  12. We win next week and we will be either bottom or second bottom, second bottom because a team that will also be relegated have lost to the team at the top of the league. That's not "in the mix". That's "relegation candidate team wins an occasional match". It's not about being Eeyore, I've spent the last few years telling lunatics on this forum that were absolutely convinced we were going down that we obviously weren't - last season, and the season before, and the season before that. On and on some people went about how we were being "dragged into it" when we had the points on the board and it was clear we were safe. This year, its the other way round, sadly. There comes a point when you can see it. There's not enough games left, we are not suddenly going to hit top 8 form to turn it round. I want us to win next week, just like every week. But a spade is a spade. In all honesty I really want to see us get a trip to Wembley, thats far more interesting to me now.
  13. Sorry this is bollocks. Six points is not "nothing", it's loads of points. 14 games is nowhere near enough games to turn it round. We can win the next two, get those six points but we'd still be incredibly likely to be in the bottom three. We really need to stop pretending we're in some group with teams miles above us in the table and we're all battling it out. We're not. We're stone bottom and we will be one the 3 relegated teams. Get used to it.

If the question is "why are we getting relegated", then that's a pretty good answer.

Well, they didn't want to commit to Marsch beyond the end of the season so it's pretty obvious that the club will assess things in the summer. SR don't need to "answer anything soon". Let's see where we are in the summer, just like pretty much every other relegated club since the dawn of time. Honestly if your view of Selles is that he won't even try because he hasn't got a long term commitment then we wouldn’t actually want him to stay would we?
  16. We're really proving them boffins wrong and no mistake.
  17. heaven forbid we ever play any match time with a left back and a right back playing left and right back.
  18. We are never, ever, ever going to score.
  19. We've significantly upgraded him with that record signing we made in January.

  21. Do not include footage of anyone trying to tell you that Southampton Company Union Men was a real thing.
  22. I think the more important fact is we beat Chelsea but we are still bottom - it's a pointless exercise to extrapolate from that one game as it has no more value than us losing against Forest or Wolves or Villa.
  23. I lived through the Le Tiss/Pahars etc great escapes so I know for some the belief that "we will win three games in a row and get out of it" will carry on until there is 3 games left. You don't really need to be a "statto" to predict a team that won last week but still stone bottom will be relegated. I admire the optimism, but I think it is entirely possible that yes under Selles our form will improve, but we still go down.
  24. I only listen to one Athletic podcast - Football Cliches - which I do really like and isn't about betting at all. Beyond that I think I am paying £1 a month so for that it's fine. If we get relegated I will definitely cancel as I don't think we will get even the limited coverage we get now.
