Well, obviously. But his value has not gone down from what we paid for him is my point, especially with the contract he's signed. His first ever year as a front line first choice Premier League player has not reduced his value. Rangers (or anyone) is not getting him for £10m.
-
Not really. Seven starts in the league. If he was such an established Premier League player anyway, why the fuck did he get flogged to a Championship team?
-
We won't be taking a loss on Downes, who with a year of Premier League experience behind him, should be going up in value not down. Unless Still really wants rid of him I think Downes is stuck with us and we are stuck with him. His contract will mean he has a transfer fee that would put off anyone that might want him (other champ Clubs). And any club that can afford him (ie Prem clubs) are not that likely to want him. Rangers haven't got that kind of money anyway. The whole thing is by-numbers shit journalism.
-
What planet are you on that Rangers are spending £40m on any player, let alone Jack Grealish. Rangers highest ever fee of all time is £12m. And that was 20 odd years ago.
-
What? Brentford who are a tiny club have had/having five straight seasons in the Premier League, is that not a "nice thing"? Frank isn't obliged to stay with one club for the rest of his life, he's given them plenty.
-
"If you arbitrarily remove the games he won, he didn't win many games" is a pretty shitty way of analysing a managers performance. Since when was "66 games" a standard benchmark? They finished 5th last season on 66 points, 1.7ppg and an excellent season for Spurs, especially considering this was year one of their post-Kane era.
-
All the best Ivan. He has a proven record in that division at that level so well deserved. Right now all across Bergamo and Lombardy there are local sports journalists thinking up their cute little press conference questions about bloody Death Metal.
-
Tell you what, let's win the Championship at a canter and worry about the rest of it later.

It's still a subjective act to decide what "that" chance is. People can chat shit about it all day but it is not objective empirical data.

The Benefits of the Sport Republic Group Model (Split)

Looks like Palace might not get their European place because of thrir multi-club owners. What are we going to do when us and Goztepe both get in the Champions League? -
I am now prepared to confirm that this time last week I was inside Fenway Park in Boston. Home of the Red Sox of course but also headquarters of Fenway Sports Group, FSG. I'm not in a position to say much more than that.

You are fucking off to a Rangers forum from today, right?

Honestly I think you need to park up your open top bus. The Sport Republic era has been a fucking disaster. Maybe, maybe the deckchair rearrangement will pay off this time as the last set of decision makers have been binned. Fine fine. Let's remember before your street parties start that it will be, at the earliest, 2027 before SR can even get us back to the same place we were when they bought us in the first place. -
He'd have to win the league at least a couple of times to get a job any better than the top end of the Championship. Strachan won three titles in a row and went to Middlesbrough. Neil Lennon went to Bolton. Yes, Gerrard got Villa but on his name. Brendan went to Leicester but was already proven Premier League. I think Russ would have to do well as Ange did at Celtic (2 league titles in two years) to truly go up a rung in his next job.
-
If you think how arsey and snippy he got after a few ironic cheers from the Northam for McCarthy booting it long a couple of times you dread to think how he will cope in the teeth of some of the most entitled fans in British football. And tons of them.

I would advise the Forum Wuss-ettes to avoid any Rangers social media. I'm not sensing a lot of love out there for your hero

The Benefits of the Sport Republic Group Model (Split)

I think it’s great that the owners of SFC who said we are the lead club and the priority are buying, loaning and selling players that “has absolutely no effect on Saints at all”. You understand that this is precisely the argument for “the multi club model is not helping us”, right? Me taking the piss out of it doesn’t mean I don’t understand it. But thanks for the lessons x -

Try really hard and you could make that post even more patronising. The point is there has been no visible tangible benefit to the multi-club model for us as a club several years in. Knock yourself out about how wonderful the theory is but allow the rest of us the opportunity to question the point of it. -

Happy days if it is this, a fitting tribute to 1976, although I expected the away kit to be pure Bobby Stokes. Either way a very good set of kits. The Hummel 80s throwback was the first top I'd bought in 25 odd years but for that home I may go in again this season.

I'm just hoping some of these signings ultimately find their way to Valenciennes and make them even stronger 🤞🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏 -
It's a crazy idea but maybe Leicester City will appoint a manager with no connection to Southampton whatsoever? The world doesn't completely revolve around us.

I said Rangers would be absolutely perfect for him (probably on this thread somewhere). 85% possession vs Motherwell will be right up his street. And he will win a trophy or two.
