Well, this thread is insane. The Koeman appointment was amazing at the time, and the job he did was outstanding. Ralph is still hovering around Dave Jones achievement level for me. Just okay but pretty forgettable. Just no comparison.

It looks a lot cheaper than I imagined. I obviously know it is not for the likes of me but I did think it was going to look shiny and slick, with some nice whizzy graphics etc. At the moment it looks like a TV channel that has been created during week six of The Apprentice.

It was brilliant but you're right: a lot of hype for a tournament where we actually won two games (and one of those was against bloody Scotland). The 4-1 v Holland was amazing and the whole thing was a great summer. The fact that we went through the entire semi final including extra time without Venables making a single substitution is absolutely astonishing to this day. Unthinkable today: unthinkable then really. Italia 90 was better in that we were up against it and as you say Robson was hated in the press. The Platt goal especially was a fantastic moment to be a young kid watching football. I was that kid.
