I wonder if the BBC get first or second choice of the semis.
-
It wasn't against the run of play as such but we were pretty inept in the 15 minutes or so between the offside VAR goal and our actual first goal.
-
Difficult to see Steve Bruce lasting the weekend now.
-
Still on track to do a Wigan, lads. Keep shitting yourselves.
-
I imagine the players are really struggling to concentrate what with Fulham breathing down their necks.
-
I said to my mate before the game that we needed to be 2-0 up half time. Mainly because we're appalling in second halves but also it should break Bournemouth. I doubt they will go balls out to get through now, so hopefully we can at least contain and see this through.
-
Great timing......well done Mouuuussssssaaaaaa
-
I'd also like to add that its barely worth bothering. Terrible stuff from Saints since the offside goal.

If Fulham had won yesterday we'd have been five points clear of the drop zone, not four. But it's hardly some surprise that Fulham didn't win. Five wins all season, 23 goals - twenty. three. - in 30 matches and still i read nutcases on this forum just convinced they are going to win every time they step on the pitch. You can bet your life if that was Southampton FC in 18th, with 26 points and 23 goals, the supreme confidence and belief people have on here for bloody Fulham would not be here for us.

Fulham can win 10-1 for all I care. Irrelevant.

His heart throb had to hold hands with Theresa May just to walk down some steps.

Pretty much all our great managers of the last 30 years had an element of turnaround/impact = Hoddle, Strachan, Alan Ball. Koeman came into an absolute meltdown. Pardew began the climb back. A few inherited and built: Adkins (from Pardew), Pochettino (from Adkins). You realise that its pretty normal for managers to come in when a club is at a low ebb, don't you?
-
He had the benefit of taking over from the absolute worst manager we ever had and then a very drab Hughes era. The only way was up, or he'd be sacked too. It's called "starting from a low base". Ralph has got us to the same middling position that plenty of average Saints top flight managers have delivered before: Puel, Dave Jones, Adkins being close comparisons. He's a long way from really good managers who actually achieved things: Strachan, Hoddle, Poch, Ball, Koeman. If he gets us to a cup final, great. But so far, he's just bang average all all the stats show. Most of his time, we've been weak. He's hugely fortunate to play so many matches with no crowds. Nice leading graph though. You should go into government.
-
So the good form of 2020 is really nothing to do with him then. Not his team. He's was just lucky to benefit from the inheritance Puel and Hughes left him? Clear.
-
Why would a load of bricklayers who are offended by the F word want to have a discussion about Wigan fans being pleased they won the cup and wouldn't change it for the world? I've never at any point said they "weren't bothered" with relegation. I've said the cup had nothing to do with it, or the fact they are now in League One. Have a nice day and sorry you don't like swearing.
-
It's not hysterical to say Ralph is just a very average manager for us and as it stands his time will be looked back on a bit like Dave Jones. Middling, about par working under a poor owner/leadership. Ralph won't exceed Dave Jones best this season with what can only be described as 100% his team, his tactics his signings. No hysterics, just a unremarkable Southampton season so far. Let's see how tomorrow goes. Secondly it's pretty batshit nuts to write off two 9-0s as freaks nothing to do with our manager. It's not an accident or freak that no other Premier League manager has delivered that in the entire history of the division. You're dismissing it because you're a sycophant but that's fine, just admit it.
-
What's your point, then? Wigan fans are delighted they won the cup. The immediate first season in the Championship after their cup win they finished a respectable fifth. In the year they did win the cup they were in the relegation zone throughout. On every metric there is no correlation between their predicament and their cup win. And they'd take the cup win again. You the one goading that they might not be in the top flight for a while - my point is so fucking what? Loads of clubs in League One won't be.
-
So, we need to get relegated to the second tier to become a more viable winner of the FA Cup? Seems to me you're just saying any old shit and you don't even know what point you're making. Do that stuff about supporting Eastleigh again. Lastly, and this is worth repeating, we are seven points clear of relegation with 9 games to play. We are not going to be relegated.
-
If i had one criticism of Puel its that he really under used Lallana, Lovren, Wanyama, Lambert, Shaw, Mane, Pelle and Schneiderlin.
-
Pure, unadulterated spin. This season Ralph has inherited a team from Ralph. It's his fucking team. How many seasons does have to manage the club for him to be held responsible for the team, the tactics, the performances. We're on track to maybe scrape the points that Dave Jones got in his shit season when Pahars kept us up on the last day. Or are you going to pretend that Dave Jones inherited some wonder team that Ralph could only dream of? The shite you've written about Puel has been dealt with already but maybe put it this way. If Puel's 2016-17 squad is somehow inextricably linked to Pochettino's team of 8th place finishers three seasons before (2013-14) as you claim, then Ralph's team last season 2019-20 is equally linked to the Puel season three seasons before that (2016-17). We can only conclude that four years on the influence of Puel is now gone and here we are tumbling down the table on one of the worst runs in our history. Ralph's success last season was built on in what he inherited from Claude. Did worse if course: 11th vs 8th. The further we get away from Puel's legacy the worse we get. That is how it works, right?

There was one last time around which was something like: It's hardly a surprise that someone who was consistently overlooked for England caps in favour of Geoff Thomas and Carlton Palmer believes there's a sinister conspiracy working against him
