Here's the thing. We're not going to be relegated.
-
Great news. Let's hope it works out for him.

Surely winning the FA Cup and even getting to the final would create work and a financial return for the club? Commemorative merch, DVD sales, T shirts scarves, plus the TV money etc etc. Isn't that good for the club. I don't think the comms team, the merch team the PR team (people behind desks working for the club) all wish that we chuck a load of kids out for the cup games so we get knocked out nice and early to prevent relegation. Those employees aren't like some of the dins on this forum. They're not sitting around just wishing that the players just rest rest rest and only play the minimum possible amount of games so we can fight against relegation. They, like me, want us to try and win a fucking trophy.
-
I valued the two seasons under Nigel Adkins myself. Slightly more than Mane's hat trick at one game. Jesus wept.
-
And? They're fucking Wigan. If you think Saints are never ever going to be relegated ever again you've got a shock coming. Us getting knocked out of the cups at the earliest opportunity like some twats on here want us to do does not create immunity to relegation either.
-
You won't find many Wigan fans who would give the cup back, squire.
-
Has anyone said different? All people are saying us they'd like to win the cup and I agree. Loads of teams get relegated, it's only on this forum that relegation immediately means another relegation and financial oblivion. I'd still support Saints in the Championship no bother, there's plenty of big clubs down there. Even Wigan finished fifth and in the play offs in their first season down. How many seasons do want to go to blame the cup win on their relegation?
-
Sunderland are in League One now but they didn't win the cup. So should we win the cup to guarantee league one football or not win the cup to guarantee league one football? It's so confusing.

Sheldon Report - Institutional Failings in Child Sex Scandal
CB Fry replied to The Kraken's topic in The Saints
The main board is there to deal with actual, serious crimes, like people who want to prioritise league placing prize money over progress in the FA Cup. -
Your comments about cups is utter soul-destroying rubbish and I really can't be arsed with responding. Others here have said it already. But I like the way with these people that we can never just get relegated like other clubs manage to do. Every relegation in these people's heads is an immediate double relegation. Every fucking time. From seven points clear of the drop needing one win to stay up in March 21 to kicking off back in league one in the summer of 2022. 18 months time. Batshit.

In fairness he looks like quite a good appointment if you want to replicate what he achieved at Barnsley, promotion from L1. But for a reasonable young coach he'd be mental just to take a 13 match contract with no security beyond. One could think they are just floating an exciting name they can't afford to give the fans a bit of the "well, we tried" routine before they appoint Guy Whittingham again.
-
This is what happens when you put a proper soccer person like Kreuger in charge of a team from a completely different sport. It was never going to work.
-
You only post on this website when you've decided we're going to be relegated you fucking weirdo.
-
Some kind of analy retentive comment like this one, you mean?
-
So is comparing the present day to the early nineties relevant or not? You seem confused.

There was some chat from journos i saw that Tindall and Howe would never work together again. Some beef there i think. I think Howe is realistic appointment for us, but maybe with different backroom staff. Mick Wadsworth maybe.

I had a quick look at the seasons prediction thread. Lots and lots of predictions of top half or at least very solid mid-table. I couldn't find it but somewhere there is also a post transfer window thread where the vast majority were happy with the business and thought the squad was improved with Ralph's signings of Salisu, Walcott, KWP, Salisu. A huge level of positive confidence when the new season started. Very little of "everyone is a steaming pile of crap". I do wonder why that is.
-
Branfoot was a shit manager and his failure all his fault entirely. Ralph is a genius manager whose failure entirely due to injuries, VAR, lack of funds, back luck, the shit players Puel bought four years ago, the owner, Les Reed, referees, the weather and of course "the big picture" of the fundamental problems at the club as a whole.
-
I think what is being compared is Branfoot's league record - 2 and a half seasons of 42 match league campaigns, so about 100 games - with Ralph's entire Saints career. So not a perfect comparison.
-
Absolutely. That bit in no doubt at all.
-
The other managerial type I'd like to avoid is the big name ex-player Sky Sports News appointment: Lampard, Henry, Viera. Howe might be a decent fit, although I don't think he's going to organise our defence much better.
-
Yet after a dreadful performance with a squad and team very much chosen, coached and developed by the manager it's interesting how some just want to immediately start bleating about the owner and "bigger problems at the club" and all this other stuff grandly described as "the big picture". To me it's a fucking cop-out and a knee-jerk reaction to get the manager off the hook. When we were top of the league no one said how great the club was, or how good the owners hands-off approach was. The only "picture" big or small was how brilliant Ralph was. Maybe the big picture now is this manager is running out of ideas and is losing control of this team and how to win matches? Maybe that's the big picture?
-
If only we had the same management team that took us to top of the league last November and that great run in 2020. What happened to those guys?
-
A thousand times this.
