It's times like this that we miss Shane Long.
-
Jesus wept.

I think the main thing to do now, lads, is all let your heads drop and capitulate to defeat.
-
I'm this close to setting up a Facebook group called "It's time to set up AFC Southampton" #pheonixclub
-
To be honest my view is we should drop down to league one as quickly as possible, have a clear out, rebuild and start again. It's clearly the only way we're ever going to get back to European contention. Really, every single defeat will be seen as a blessing in the long run.

Absolute masterpiece.

I think you seemed to have missed the fact that FULHAM GOT ANOTHER POINT YESTERDAY FFS But yes us getting to 50 is far more likely than us being relegated.
-
Anyone who is saying they don't think we are safe yet is saying that they truly believe that Ralph Hasenhuttl cannot do any better than the Pellegrino/Mark Hughes season. They don't think he can scrape together 36 points. If they do believe that, especially after two plus years in charge, then really they should be campaigning for his dismissal as his time here will ultimately be seen as a failure.
-
Quite. All these people who have decided that there is a chance we are going to get relegated and relentless winning machine Fulham are going to stay up instead are effectively saying that Ralph is significantly weaker manager than Puel was. Puel got us solid mid table on 46 points. The "I'm not ruling out relegation" nutcases on here are saying that they don't think Ralph can even scrape 36 points in a season, ten less than our Claude. Puel's achievements and reputation grow with every passing year.

It hasn't come to anything. A result of zero consequence for us. Zero.
-
The Catalans are clamouring for it, and I've heard a certain member of the Barca executive board (who shall remain nameless) is very, very keen on it happening.
-
The only incredible work is the hilarious in-joke on this forum that Widdrington was close to being our manager and that there was a clamour for it in the fan base etc etc. Not sure who started it but it probably won't ever entirely go away whatever we do. Much like Covid-19.
-
What we need is, like, more determination and passion and pride in the shirt.
-
That's funny because VVD was a highly regarded player when he arrived at SFC from Celtic. He was class from day one for us.

Fulham's last win in the league was 30th November. So just the two and a half months between wins. What a wonder-team they must be. I said elsewhere that if that was Saints with three wins and Saints with 18 points from 23 games, then I doubt this forum would be expressing the same starry eyed belief about how wonderful our prospects are in the league as people now seem to be doing with Fulham.
-
Bunch of fannies. We're not going down. Fulham have now won a total of three Premier League games. I'd fucking love to see this forum if it was us that was 18th. Us with 3 wins. Us with 18 points from 23 games (less than 0.8 per game). And us 7 points adrift of safety. I get the feeling people would not have this level of belief in Saints in that situation that they currently have for Fulham.

Sorry, I can't work it out. To be clear we are not going to be relegated this season. So what "fire" are we playing with?
-
Define "playing with fire".
-
Have a nice wank.

Can you point me to the posts on this thread from today where people were saying this drop in form was "inevitable" - I've not read every reply so I've probably missed it. But you've made your big point on this angle so ther must be several.
-
Too busy making your smart arse point to actually quote my entire post, as usual I see. Are you saying not one member of this forum expressed a view that our form was not going to be maintained?
-
Some people were saying we were in contention to win the fucking league. Others were tempering expectations and could see, very clearly that back then we were in a run of good form which would be transient not permanent.
-
What it's doing is giving them the comfort blanket of "its not our fault, we only lose because things are against us". We deservedly got nothing from the game today. Whining about decisions help no one. We had more good fortune than we knew what to do with last week and still lost.
-
We need the rub of the green one day. Something like the opposition being down to ten men from the start of the second half, then down to nine men for the last twenty minutes. I was fairly resigned when the pen went in. But after their second goal we never looked for a minute we'd get back in.

If only Ralph had the resources and total freedom that Pochettino, Koeman, Strachan and all our other managers had. He is the Southampton manager. Making the best of what you have is part of it. Personally I have no desire to see him go. We were in an obviously false position a few months back and its now been corrected. This is how good we are. Not that good.
