  1. I think we need to move on from the season of "it's impossible to do business in January and the club is right not to overspend to sign anyone and it's good we got shot of those players. It was right to sell them. Let's see where we are in the summer and make changes then". That window is closed. We can now get all warmed up for the summer season of "you can't expect to make loads of signings in one window, the team won't gel and no one can expect all those players to stay if they get a better offer than we can give them so it's correct to sell them. Let's see where we are in January and make changes then". See you in July everyone.
  2. Presumably the SFC senior management team are all high-fiving themselves and congratulating themselves on another sensational transfer window. We don't buy success, we breed it. We don't sign anyone. We sell and loan and flog every fu cking player we can. #vision
  3. Will leave a massive gap in that all-important fourth choice centre back berth.
  4. All I can think is that is a dreadfully depressing signing for Arsenal. What have they become? Good luck to Cedric, at best an average and completely forgettable player with a few moments, but really nothing special.
  5. My Spurs mate says that everyone on the Spurs forums says he's rubbish but my mate tells me that he's been reminding everyone that all Southampton fans definitely said that Mane was rubbish and look how that turned out basically Kyle Walker-Peters will turn out to be as good as Mane because everyone says he's rubbish now.
  6. Dancing in the streets of Shropshire tonight.... If there was going to be a result I never thought it was going to begin from 0-2 against "The greatest team on the planet ™" so I gave in to the children and put a film on. Very pleased for that kid who put it in his own net. Now thankfully not the story.
  7. I turned off the Shrewsbury game about two minutes after that own goal. What did I miss?
  8. The potential to secure, long term, the services of someone who next season might, might be our fourth choice centre back. Be still my beating heart. How about we try and sign a centre back good enough that he pushes Jack Stephens into the fourth choice spot. That's how we will actually improve.
  9. All sounds plausible Hypo, cheers. I've got no expectation that Ralph is going to be here for multiple seasons. If he carries on current form and we end up, say, 8th then I'd say he's gone in the summer. It's not like the club have backed him with resources so what's he got to stay for? What is likely to keep him here is that his record remains patchy and any potential blue-chip clubs would look at 9-0 and some stuttering form in the autumn. That said he's probably already done enough to get a mid ranking job in Germany again. If he does the entirity of next season I will be very surprised.
  10. Fair enough. I could only remember Ralph playing him or bringing him on as a full back. Doesn't feel like he has a future here.
  11. I think I am right in saying that Danso has never played centre back for us, ever? Being that he bad some history of playing full back before he joined us I am struggling to understand the constant defence of him that he is played out of position. Maybe he isn't?
  12. I would just like to say I wish we could have the Saints equivalent of the current Coventry kit next season. Beautiful stuff.
  13. Scratch that: Oxford vs Newcastle it is.
  14. Replay likely to be on TV you'd think.
  15. Probably because he had a full season to settle in and build his fitness. You know, after we signed him in the summer of 2018.
  16. Oooh you've corrected me on the point I already knew you were making. Oh how we all celebrated the breathtaking brand new player Danny Ings that we signed in the summer of 2019. Jesus wept.
  17. Only if you are pointless pri ck counting the Ings fee which we'd committed to twelve months previously. And the point was about spending £30m plus on single players as others have done. Strange you're not pedantic enough to gauge what the point in hand actually is.
  18. I bet he doesn't.
  19. But all those clubs have wasted millions on rubbish players as well.
  20. Chorley then spent the remaining time talking absolute sh ite about if only we turned St Mary's into a social club and put local bands on that would fund our promotion back to the Premier League. Absolute super-fans-know-best horsesh it. Except of course Chorley was barely a fan, it was all some ego trip. The fact that Radio Five had him on speed dial as our official voice of the fans for some time was highly depressing.
  21. In fairness that didn't last long. I remember it was LeGod Second Coming (there's another name for you, nostalgia fans) who led a spirited defence on the evening it was unveiled, and a few others did the "well some people simply don't understand interpretive artwork" routine but by the following morning all that was gone and from then it was just LOLs all the way. Except for the total waste of fans money because the idiot committee gave all the money to someone who had never done a public statue commission in his life but that didn't matter because he was a passionate Saints fan. Moronic. Still, the detail on the shoes was amazing.
  22. The world's gone mad.
  23. Didn't expect to come in to that Vestergaard story. Does he need a lift up there?
  24. Absolutely, comprehensively, unquestionably not getting relegated. Astonishing stuff when we look back to the autumn. Vestergaard very lucky. If wed gone one down as we should have, it could been a different game.
