It looks like the very best we will get is he signs a contract extension for 3/4/whatever years but with a £20m release clause, but only activated in the summer of 2022, therefore he plays out the time of his original contract and then goes for £20m If its a release clause active this summer then we might as well just sell him this summer for whatever, and forget the idea that he has any real interest in staying.

My instinct when this debate started was that I look at Ings now as someone broadly in the same bracket as Beattie.
