  1. "Saints" has too broad a term, like Spurs. It means the club, the players, the fans, a brand. It's simultaneously singular and plural and nothing actually belongs to it. Southampton's new manager: fine. Tottenham Hotspur's new manager: fine. Saints' / Spurs' / Saints's / Spurs's new manager: weird.
  2. Debatable whether one is needed, especially as Saints' and Saints's new manager is needlessly awkward. "New Manager" is fine - I think we can safely assume which football club we are talking about on this forum.
  3. If we leave the EU Cameron and all his rich buddies will continue to get richer.
  4. You're saying that like you are surprised - Leicester were 5,000-1 shots for a reason. It's probably 30 years away from happening again.
  5. Please can we keep to the standard forum football transfer measurement of Shlongs.
  6. This forum's very own superstar MLG has been on a major Celtic forum telling them how big we are/were, I believe it was last summer and it was linked to on here. One of the reasons he gave was the fact that we have been in eleven major cup semi finals in our history. He makes the Everton "we invented dug-outs" list-kid on this thread look nearly sane.
  7. Finishing a mediocre 14th with none of those players being seen as "decent" by any other club kinda helped them. Vardy - 5 goals in 36 appearances. Let's not pretend they were beating clubs away from their superstars.
  8. You realise you have just bitten on the bait too? Great work Prof.
  9. So in this scenario there's a Conservative party arguing to stay in the Single Market, a Labour party agreeing with them, and Lib Dems and SNP also agreeing with them. Who exactly would this electorate vote for to dish out these severe repercussions?

We don't need an interim boss.
  11. "Welcome to Goodison Park" were the very first words spoken by Elton Welsby on The Big Match Live.
  12. The first club ever to serve Bovril.
  13. I don't think anyone on this forum is saying Saints are bigger than Everton. We're just saying that Everton aren't much bigger than we are. And you're not. Well done on inventing corner flags though.
  14. Why are you on this forum?
  15. Whatever. This began with the idea that a newspaper running a story about FDB joining another club to "force us into a decision". It isn't, it won't.
  16. We're sounding out managers and agents, of course we are, but we can't and won't make a "decision" until we know he's definitely gone and all that compensation is on its way.
  17. The Breakfast Club was good but never too fussed about Home Alone.
  18. Unlikely - we can't be "pushed into making a decision" as we currently have another manager contracted to us. I think people might need to calm down a bit.
  19. 1. Nice hair and/or suit 2. Multiple club experience across more than one country including significant European competition track record of success 3. Name that contains at least one word for house or houses.
  20. I'm thinking of starting a thread called "CB Fry makes snap judgements on European football managers based entirely on a 15 second skim of their Wikipedia page and how their hair looks on Google images".
  21. Good candidates all I think. I wasn't really aware of Rudi Garcia as I don't follow much European football but he is Crab Lungs preferred candidate so I looked him up: record looks excellent and another good fit. Also available. Advantage over De Boer that he managed multiple clubs in more than one country. Rapidly going off the idea of FDB with so many other available options out there.
  22. "The media" don't hate him. He will be Southampton manager, "the media" will barely give him a thought. If he's top six with us come Christmas then it's a beautiful little story. If he's bottom six it's just another struggling club story. That's about it.
  23. Still no.
  24. Except he hasn't.
  25. De Boer: Dutch Neil Lennon.
