  1. Would be delighted with AVB. I'm ready to bid that Dutch bloke a hearty fu ck off. We march on.
  2. I've never even thought that Eddie Howe was a skate - did he play for them then? If I am honest, apart from Redknapp walking back through the door, there isn't any high profile football person I would not want at the club because he is a "skate". David Nugent maybe if he suddenly became a manager. Avram. I'm struggling. Let's not be tinpot about this.
  3. AVB isn't going to get a job at any other Prem club at a higher profile than us - the top six aren't going to appoint him. And if he wants cash this is the league. I think he'd jump at it. Potentially great fit and didn't he get as many points at Spurs as Poch did, or am I making that up?
  4. I will be a fully signed up meltdowner if we appoint Giggs. Luckily we won't and some idiot club like QPR or Blackburn can do that instead. If he turns out to be the next Pep, fine, but he can do it somewhere else.
  5. All this stuff sounds quite interesting, but the fact remains that the manager got that team to sixth. If half of them hate him that's not necessarily a problem. I'd be more worried if all the players loved the manager all the time.
  6. I wasn't talking about you specifically, I was making general points about the forum, in reply to a post from you making general points about the forum. Except the "we're not punching above our weight" bit which you did say yesterday and was fascinating. And also nice to see you use a variation of a line I used multiple times in various debates about net spend - we've got players costing around £10m in every single department all over the pitch from in goal to up front, including the bench most weeks. That's requisite ambition. I am glad you agree.
  7. It's also odd that any success on this forum is very quickly dismissed as being entirely coincidental with the people running the club. We've already had "Les got lucky last summer" as we did a year ago, and if we do have a poor season next season there will be plenty of people writing off two entire seasons to present the club "in decline since Cortese left". You yesterday have decided we aren't punching above our weight after all and 6th is just par for our course, so turns out we have been ambitious all along despite people moaning about our net spend and bottom four wage bill. So that's all right then. You think it odd that people can't express disappointment. I see it as really weird the countless comments about how terrible the club is being run and how lucky the management are despite one of the most sustained periods of success in our entire history.
  8. No idea. But happy to accept info on its merits rather than trawl around the Internet looking for bad news. Let's remember which one of us, on the day Charlie Austin signed, which had been widely and comprehensively reported in mainstream outlets everywhere and confirmed by our own ITKs, was still trawling around made-up local news clickbait websites trying to find stories saying he wasn't.
  9. Everton fed PR/spin to the papers which is always absolutely true rather than SFC fed PR/Spin to the papers which is all lies and a disgrace and I don't know how any club should be allowed to get away with it. Here, I'm going to quote it up again.
  10. I think this. I am expecting a manager who knows exactly how to navigate a Europa campaign. We've quickly become too good for Howe right now.
  11. The now world-famous Alpine technique of saying "everything is easy in hindsight" is the forum gloom-merchant's greatest weapon.
  12. It's much better to just automatically assume it will work out worse, though. Sooner or later it will and finally you'll have your moment.
  13. I was taking the pi ss but cheers anyway.
  14. I'm not sure I've seen the quotes you're referring to.
  15. Absolutely. Was convinced he would do fine at Newcastle.
  16. You are loving it and it is getting bit weird.
  17. Where did I say net spend? My issue with net spend is that it is irrelevant metric, but other financial measures aren't - wage bill for example. Newcastle and Villa punched well below their weight. What exactly is your point? Pretty sure you've made plenty of comments about our low wage bill especially the "bottom four" stuff that came out during the season. Might be you having it both ways not me.
  18. The Mirror have gone big and Everton forum ITKs apparently. Some Dutch Twitter journos. The offer is true no doubt but not sure it is as sealed as some think yet. But resigned and ready. Our next manager will be brilliant too.
  19. Ask Sheffield Wednesday fans. You can't trust Big Ron when he says he's not leaving to go to another club. #onefortheteenagers #DeadlyDoug
  20. Bloody Twitter freelancers playing story lottery. Worth an effort, if he's right it might get him some work.
  21. I don't remember you being particularly sure we would finish sixth back in August. If our weight is transfer funds spent and wage bill we're not sixth in either.
  22. If he hadn't taken the Celtic job I would have been supportive of Brendan Rodgers. Absolutely genuinely. Would have been a good fit, would have got on great with Uncle Les. Whoever we get will be a decent name with decent calibre. Or Eddie Howe.
  23. Why don't they appoint Simeone or Tuchel instead? Or Low? Someone resembling an elite manager. Koeman just not worth that.
  24. In other news we finished sixth. Not bad for Mr Nice Guy is it?
  25. He's more loveable. And more likely to fail I think.
