Why would "risk averse accountants" object to that? Last summer Leicester signed a full back on a free, Stoke's third choice centre back and, gosh, the only player in their squad they've spent eight whole million quid on. Wes Morgan and Mark Albrighton's wage bill won't be anything to worry about. I think we can definitely stretch to do what Leicester did in the summer and snap up some nice cheap, low wage bargains. We've got loads of players we paid £8m or more for so probably covered in that department already. Because that's what you want us to do, right?

I think what marks you out as a deluded, m***g f**wit on here is drivelling on about net spend being the most important factor for the success of a football club. Like, well, you.
-
This is football. When your team needs to win all their matches and you still need a whole sweep of fixtures for multiple clubs across multiple weeks to all happen then you are in the realms of "obviously not going to happen". You can furiously chalk on your blackboard a billion and one little formulas like Good Will Hunting if you like but only one of us was dumb enough to think that all the teams 3-5 in L2 were all simultaneously going to collapse in form to miraculously let Pompey stroll to promotion. All of them. And you were dumb enough. Obviously wasn't going to happen and didn't. It's called perspective.

I know he's been CEO for two of the most successful seasons in our entire history, that's what I know about him.

Leicester's last match is at Chelsea right? That will be rather lovely for Claudio and might remind some of the Chelsea fans and players of a time when they were quite likeable as a club.

I know you know.

Tottenham build up thread ...a question posed
CB Fry replied to Yorkshire Saint's topic in The Saints
I think we can get the point required from Palace at home, with anything at Spurs a bonus. -
Brilliant stuff. Achieved the unthinkable the only way a club like them (or us) can - from nowhere. No "aiming for it", no real plan for it, no investment for it, no incremental building up the table, just blam. They may be football's greatest ever firework but what a season and what an achievement.

That's called "it was never going to happen" and it didn't. Anyone with a brain knew that Pompey's automatic promotion charge was dead and buried weeks ago. People can a) fanny about going on about stats and accumulator bets and Leicester's odds nine months ago and mathematical probability or b) take a cursory look at a league table several weeks ago taking in Pompey's points on the board, the remaining matches to play and the number of clubs above them and make a ten-second simple assessment that it was obviously never going to happen. And oh look. It didn't. Obviously.

Classic Glasgow.

We are only a couple of weeks away from the usual loons on this forum ranting on about how we've been in decline since the day Cortese left. Last season was written off as a Led Reed fluke by those geniuses so I have no doubt this one will be too. Every new season is a new start and if we end up around the top eight again, that's progress. Maybe we'll get a little less on the "net spend" myth this time round but you never know. Some never learn.

Bizarre.

Party time in Leicester tonight as, all being well, Mark Selby and Chelsea will both be doing the business by about half past nine.
-
When you say "like the bazillionth time", I think you mean the first time. But yeah, welcome to the forum, completely brand new person.
-
Oh you have a point there.

Great to have Glasgow back.

Not hypocritical at all, as I said in my previous post we have gone over this multiple, multiple times. You're just spectactularly thick that's all. You want to accuse people of being autistic multiple times to score forum points you lose the opportunity to be offended by the phrase "box of frogs" you total fu cking imbecile. Yes, sorry everyone, not on topic but SOG is a moron and always worth mentioning it.
-
Ramps up the pressure on Spurs. Shows how they aren't going to choke. Would be a very different story going into tomorrow if they'd lost.
-
It's just you. No one else. Just you. We've been over this multiple times. We all know you have no problem mocking people who you think are autistic because you're a hateful hypocritical sh ithouse.
-
We have had an injection of capital like Leicester.
-
Er, no. You've got the double standards. I'm quite happy to dish out a bit of abuse and always have been. Happy to receive it too. It's you giving it the holier than thou act then mocking people because you think they're austic, yet more proof positive that you're a nasty piece of work. I'm consistent all the way down the line - you're the shape shifting hypocrite sunshine. And, as said previously, a fu cking imbecile.

http://www.labourteachers.org.uk/historical-truth-johndavidblake/ This is a beautifully written piece. It's subject is relevant here, but it's sentiment is apt for any number of threads where the myopic and idiotic weave half facts and aimless conjecture to create hateful conspiracies. I know I'm wasting my time with the dins on here, but a good read anyway.

Now you put it like that it is almost identical to the team seven points clear in the Premier League with only three games to go and the only one team that can catch them needing to win all three matches. Leicester's situation is so much like Pompey's stroll to automatic promotion it's untrue. So glad munster brought up the comparison.
-
Just remind me - are Portsmouth going up automatically? Match after match after match after match after match all going in their favour and obviously, obviously it didn't all happen. Any old sap can do the "that team are x points ahead so if we win all our games we can catch them" sum. Takes a bit more of a brain to appreciate that when their are multiple clubs and multiple matches in play then it just won't happen. Dummies indeed.
-
Read The9's post above. They have been absolutely nowhere f ucking near automatic promotion for weeks. You're just one of those idiots who looks at the points columns and decides that if team A can still achieve the points total of the team in the target position right now then it's still possible as long as none of the teams above ever win a match again ever while your team just wins all theirs. Expecting multiple top-four teams to all just lose match after match is just dopey, or "for dummies" if you like. Leicester aren't winning the League because they were fifth three weeks ago and then all four teams above them conveniently lose every single match for three weeks in a row while they win all theirs. They've been top all season. Pompey's situation is nothing like Leicester's. Nothing at all like Leicester's. Pompey obviously weren't going up automatically, that's been hilariously, blatantly obvious for weeks. And look what happened today. Shock horror, they're not going up automatically. Fuc king obviously. Shove your book up your jacksie. In all probability it'll fit as you chat out of it.
