  1. It will be a sorry state of affairs if one of the three keepers called up to the England world cup squad is a back up keeper for a middle sized Prem club.
  2. Also, the uncharted territory of Thursday - Sunday plus the extra games and distraction of the EL is going to be a huge factor. If that knocks us back a place or two then I wouldn't be surprised. We'll be competitive come September 1st and we will compete on all (most) fronts, we'll probably give the League Cup the swerve this season. There's plenty to be excited about.
  3. I thought they'd do it last season to be fair. Genuinely they are too big to be down there forever and quite frankly it's already a disgrace (for them) that they still haven't done it. But we all dream of them completing half a decade in the bottom tier so come on Cooky, get some fry-ups down them.
  4. We've now got the best goalkeeping options in the whole league to go alongside the best midfield options in the whole league.
  5. It's all up there with "why don't we do our business early" and "why didn't we just tie him down to a longer contract last year" and all the other assorted drivel that people seriously think have never occurred to anyone working at the club and that they've just come up with as an original thought.
  6. You're pretty special, I'll give you that. For all the players we've sold for the last, what, six years, in every report, from the official site to any journalist, and deals through multiple agents brokers and football clubs, for high fees and low fees, not once has any release clause been mentioned by anyone. Not once. Yeah, okay I need to do like proper evidence to convince you don't I and stuff and that. I'll repeat the question I asked, first: who "may" we have sold via a release clause? Whenever you're ready.
  7. Who "may" we have sold via a release clause then?
  8. Well we don't. It's not people "on here", it's a fact. Unless you can name some players we've sold via a release clause during the Leibherr era, of course. Crack on.
  9. Nice eight-months-later edit on this post. Top boarding.
  10. Contract extensions usually offered up as the great cure-all by the assorted geniuses on this forum...why didn't we tie him down earlier...why didn't we offer 5 years/6 years/infinity...why didn't we extend last summer.....why do we let them run down etc etc.... Will be interesting if we have an agreement, formal or otherwise but part of his last renewal with Fonte that gets him out of the door quickly if an offer triggers it. It may be the the much vaunted tie-down really is worth diddly. He's still going on the forum banner, right guys?
  11. I do. Generally I kowtow to the current board but not confident when renewals are trailled/leaked like this. Announce it when it's done, which is what we did with VVD and Shane and JWP and Forster. We've either done it or we haven't, I don't need hints. There's a "look, we tried" air to this stuff.
  12. You should be in the loony bin, you loony. Get in the loony bin.
  13. "Kowtow to the current board" What an effing plank you are.
  14. Leaking contract offers to friendly journos. Les probably working on his YouTube hair as we speak. Nothing can possibly go wrong.
  15. Or, we wouldn't have finished as high as sixth if we didn't have a stunning run of results in April and May.
  16. He's not even back in training following the Euros so won't even be match fit until about Halloween.
  17. I wish we were Swansea.
  18. Williams wouldn't displace our first choice CBs but good luck to the dugout pioneers anyway.

  20. Bizarre.
  21. While you can see how desperate the MPs are I don't don't understand how this would really work, or be turned into electoral advantage come polling day. If it ends up with Corbyn and co relegated to the back benches then while that would be funny, it won't stop him. Plus the slavering idiot mob of hero-worshippers will continue their doe-eyed deification regardless, plus more bricks through windows and online rape threats ago-go. Plus this proto-Labour new opposition will almost certainly need propping up by the SNP at which point Scotland is truly gone for Labour for a generation. I just can't see enough MPs prepared to really pull the trigger. In a way Labour are going to lose the next election anyway so the PLP might as well suicide bomb the c#*# on to the back benches for the LOLs. But it's all playing into the hands of the reselection mob.
  22. He's got a longer contract than Mane had, still three years on it. And not much better than Mane but is more of a goal scorer.
  23. That's all great and good luck to them, but they won't be having 9 out of 11 from the academy in the regular season, especially as the likes of Dier and Alli did not actually come through the academy, they were signings like any other - Alli cost them as much as Cedric cost us. We are trying to do something similar and maybe we'll see someone new come through this season.
  24. We? Me. It's going on my gravestone. I'm saying it was for the transfer window in 2006 which the summer I was between jobs and had stupid amounts of time on my hands and I collated every single transfer rumour into one long list, with added gags. What a thread that was. Its nice that it has lived on, just, over the years. Hate that urban dictionary definition though, even though I haven't read it for years.
  25. What about the team that started their last competitive match?
