Just remind me - are Portsmouth going up automatically? Match after match after match after match after match all going in their favour and obviously, obviously it didn't all happen. Read The9's post above. They have been absolutely nowhere f ucking near automatic promotion for weeks. You're just one of those idiots who looks at the points columns and decides that if team A can still achieve the points total of the team in the target position right now then it's still possible as long as none of the teams above ever win a match again ever while your team just wins all theirs. Expecting multiple top-four teams to all just lose match after match is just dopey, or "for dummies" if you like. Leicester aren't winning the League because they were fifth three weeks ago and then all four teams above them conveniently lose every single match for three weeks in a row while they win all theirs. They've been top all season. Pompey's situation is nothing like Leicester's. Nothing at all like Leicester's. Not really. When you're relying on huge amounts of results to go your way, and winning every single game at the same time, then the game is up. Your Leicester example is ridiculous, try Arsenal - it was only mathematically impossible for them to win the league about a week ago but it was obvious they weren't going to win it weeks ago. Pompey haven't been in contention for automatic promotion for weeks and weeks and weeks.

They didn't. There was no way all of that was going to happen, they were not going to finish in the automatic spots, which has been the case for freaking weeks and weeks and weeks.

They might well do that and he might sign that, I would think that is precisely what the club will want him to sign. The rolling contract thing is just where I think they will end up, for the reasons I keep saying. As for "the same place next season" well, he isn't going to be our manager for ever, I think we'll need to kinda accept that now. And anyway we might finish 13th next season and it might be a perfectly fine idea to get a fresh face in instead. There wasn't much clamouring for his contract to be extended in December. As far as Im concerned, three years life span feels about right for clubs like us anyway.

A really easy pay rise is quite a nice incentive. Plus the club get a nice headline and it wards off a load of rumour and speculation for a while too. Plus it's a little bit of commitment but not much and clearly would be reviewed by both parties every year. Everyone's a winner.
