Right now I am saying he is a little unlucky to be in the season he is in. 37 from 19 games really is excellent, in the ballpark of 2 points a game. Worthy, definitely, of better than fourth. To have two runaway clubs right now is properly harsh on us and Leeds who in another year could be the top two with those points. I still think we are play off bound (safely, we are top 6 no bother) but I think we will fall short of automatic.

In summary, the think you think "can't both be true" can, very obviously both be true. As well as Burnley look at Norwich, Fulham and others that that have stormed the second tier and come straight back down.

I put it all down to an act of God.

Well, we surely won't be this bad today. Absolutely sensational.

This was just after you threw two of them through a pile of wooden grocers crates outside The Cowherds, if I remember correctly.

You've not looked at this season's Premier League table much, then?

Absolutely ridiculous signing then. It seemed pretty mad at the time when we needed a striker NOW (ie then). So really we should be bringing someone in in January.

So, basically, "you've done it again Martin, tell us how brilliant you are 👏 👏 👏 👏 "

Would you have focused on the abysmal first half or the ponderous second?

What would have been your non-lazy opening gambit?

I think that is shorthand for any old shit players say in announcement interviews.

The Sky guy just saying, vaguely, that we were just being careful with his return from injury.

Still difficult to tell. But we win on Saturday, that will be 37 points from 19, just a point off 2 points per game, which in most seasons is automatic promotion form. We're up against 2 teams flying which doesn't help.

Keeping at 1-0 does make it exciting for the neutral, though.

Joe Aribo and Will Smallbone are coming on so that means that means tha

How many times have we actually been 2-0 up this season?
-
At least Russell will be able to stir them up with one of his team talks that will send them out absolutely firing in the second half.

I agree

Just wait until we have completely tired out Bristol City and we bang in three in the last ten minutes.

Doesn't work on all NOW platforms (ie a phone) but if you have a Roku box etc it should be there. Go to the football section and keep scrolling down and down and down and down. Buried away underneath reruns of Premier league games from three weeks ago.

Exactly. The counter factual of us poaching the Ipswich manager in the summer does not necessarily put us in Ipswich's position now. It's not that easy. McKenna would be walking into a brand new club with a level of expectation and pressure he would never have experienced. Absolutely different ballgame to what he has done, with limited pressure at Ipswich this season.

No one is going to ever sing that bloody song. People have been trying to make it a "thing" for thirty odd years, it's never going to happen. And quite right too.

I wish we were West Brom.

Exactly. Massive company has the resources to cope with a load of additional complex and pointless paperwork, well yeah. Of course it does. I work for another one, completely different sector, and we've done the same. Doesn't mean it's not breathtakingly onerous for no benefit, it absolutely is a waste of time and resources. People in supply chain and procurement hate it, even simple things like putting test/trial/innovation samples in the post to Europe is an absolute fucking ballache and a demonstrable barrier to effective business. It's fucked things up that weren't fucked before and the advantages are zero. Zero. Nissan I have absolutely no doubt would prefer us in the EU. Smaller companies are less able to cope, but, fuck them, eh MisGuided Missile?

The sheer volume of "results like that happen" that we seem to be having is the reason we won't be top two. We will be in the play offs but not top two.
