If we'd have recruited Michael Carrick and he was doing terribly for us, you'd be on this forum telling us all that there is no other manager that could do any better.

Pretty obvious to any human being watching last night and at Sunderland that there are very clear issues with the tactical approach and team set up, that if the team were sent out with different instructions the outcome could have been different. The pattern of play would definitely be different as we never played like that under any of our past five managers.

I've just scrolled back a few seasons and I can only see Norwich in 2019 who had a Goals Against of 57 and went up automatically. Generally it's between 35-42, normally less than 40. We're way off the pace. Forget the possession stats and focus on defence.

Our squad is obviously good and against weaker teams we will just win regardless of selection or tactics. Rotherham won't have a bench where they can bring on Armstrong and Alcaraz etc etc. So we're into winning in spite of the manager not because of him. Swansea last two seasons = 68 and 64 goals against. Currently we are on track for 122 goals against.

We haven't "sold the lot", though.

He's not going to be sacked. Yet. Bare minimum he has the next four taking him to Stoke in October. Home vs Rotherham immediately after that is a lovely piece of piss first game for a new manager/caretaker.

They are better than us by some distance.

There are managers out there than can tighten us up.

Well, feels pretty certain this will be the third game this season where we concede 4. Unacceptable with our squad and wage bill etc.
