  1. Back in the old days this used to be called "investing in the team" and people would whine for weeks on end about why we didn't do more of it. Funny how things change.
  2. 28 goals in 76 games, often in a poor team is hardly "the odd glimpse". Rasiak is proven at English second tier level beyond any doubt. But granted - Saga has struggled to maintain his "please give me a permanent contract" form since signing said permanent contract.
  3. Well, Markus did come out of the blue at the last moment, and while Pompey are still a Premier League club there is nothing to stop some Arab or other lumping in, especially now the blue few have been asset stripped to buggery and are desperate ergo cheap. So this time tomorrow a new and rich owner is perfectly possible. But any passing billionaire would be much better off buying Everton. They've genuinely got a fan base and are based in a real football city.
  4. This would be the same George Burley who effectively had the longest pre season in history (from the minute he took over from Saggy at the end of January) and then another full pre season the following season....which got us nowhere. But I am sure there is another boo-hoo excuse to write all that off under.
  5. Got to love that ever flowing fountain of excuses. When was the last time Brentford had a million pound goalie, a million pound centre back, a couple of million pound midfielders, two million pound strikers in their team? How could we even dream of beating such giants with our boo-hoo pre season. We don't stand a chance Southampton Football Club. More hard done by than any other club in Britain. Ever. Never, ever, ever expect anything other than a defeat, and anyway we have more excuses that a amnesiac schoolboy with a very hungry dog addicted to excersize books at home. PS - St Mary's is not part of the problem. It's one of our greatest assets.
  6. Like where? I can't see any posts calling for Pardews head. People powered by their own sense of smugness are creating a Pardew Out campaign in their own heads so they can self righteously rail against it, the above quote being an excellent example.
  7. Why can't people judge Pardew after four games. He's only had four games so that's all any of us can judge him on. Sorry, you're deciding that people grumbling now seem to want Pardew sacked NOW NOW NOW which suits an opportunity to posture. No one wants Pardew out, people like to make out that "other people" do just so they can posture and preach loyalty. You seem to be suggesting that absolutely no opinion of Pardew can be expressed until the middle of his third season is laughable. How dare we mere mortals sit in judgement of demigod Alan? Worship, worship, worship. The "judgement" of Pardew started from the second he was appointed and will continue EVERY SINGLE DAY until he is no longer the manager of Southampton Football Club. Harmless. Fans. Forum. Get over it!
  8. I've got no problem with PP. When the whole forum was going loopy for the likes of Tisdale and Darren Ferguson I was the one pointing out that two seasons ago PP was the hot lower league prospect. Too often managers who haven't yet had the chance to fail (Tisdale, Darren) are treated like they never ever will and those that have failed are treated like they will never succeed again. Anyway, this entire thread is a joke and fuelled by self righteous indignation of a sentiment that frankly is not there. No one wants Pardew gone except maybe those who didn't want him in the first place. But fans are moan if we haven't won one in four and don't look like doing so either. Not every moan has to be clobbered by some pompous wally dishing out the tedious "well it took Alex Ferguson blah blah blah blah blah". We are currently rubbish and people saying "STOP GRUMBLING ON A FORUM" is not going to make us win.
  9. No but they did chuck huge sums of money at Iain Dowie - he spent two seasons transfer budget in one August. Also known as the never-fails "speculate to accumulate" policy recommended by certain esteemed contributors to this forum ad naseum. But the pressure on everyone at the club of delivering on such a huge outlay saw him out of a job in mere weeks. Then Les Reed. Nuff said. Charlton: free fall.
  10. Newsflash: this is an internet forum. When are people going to twig people grumbling on an internet forum does not, one iota, in any way, shape or forum, ever, ever, ever make any difference to performance on the pitch. None. None at all. Zero.
  11. How much time are you going to spend on a SOUTHAMPTON FOOTBALL CLUB FORUM trying to persuade people that our traditional rivals are, like, much betterer than Saints and everything and stuff. What a complete spanner you are. Keep on typing
  12. Heaven forbid the glittering megastars who have decided to bless our little town's football club with their presence are a "bit p**ed off". After all the fantastic work they did for us last season. P**ed off? P*** off.
  13. We have plenty of divs who support our nearest rivals who are completely besotted with us, have been since birth and still are, despite being streets ahead of us on the pitch for several years now. Besotted and posting on Saints forums over and over and over again. Besotted.
  14. Someone who says they didn't realise the standard of the league they had taken a job in has not been taken for a ride. Especially when that league is the fifth most popular league in Europe. Ignorance is not an adequate defence and Jan is clearly an idiot.
  15. All I know is someone delivered a full training kit to Gordon Strachan's house the other day and he is definitely our next manager.
  16. There isn't a Pardew out bandwagon. Just fed up with the Alex Ferguson thing. It's irrelevent these days.
  17. I remember when Bruce Rioch got sacked after one season at Arsenal. Idiot short termism. Then look what happened.
  18. But my comment was about the besotted Pompey fans posting on this forum again and again and again. You are besotted with us. We're just having a laugh at our gigantic megaclub on our doorstep. We're the little guys jealous of Goliath down the road. But even when you tower over us you're still besotted with all things Saints. And you post on here, again and again and again. A Pompey supporter posting on a Southampton Football Club forum again and again and again is a weirdo. Saints fans on their own forum having a good old laugh about Pompey is normal. If you people want to take the mick out of a lower league football club on its uppers on your own forums then go ahead, but I won't be joining in to try and "win the argument" as one of you nutcases said you were trying to do on here the other day. "Win the argument". But really as a Premier League elite super power with a gigantic fanbase and European pedigree I have no idea why you would bother. Saints fans couldn't give two sh i ts about Pompey when you were nowhere for thirty years. As I said before - bunch of Freaks.
  19. Pardew was always going to be a Burley or a Strachan - big-ish name with success and failure behind him, who could go either way. Lets hope his Burley period is a soon-forgotten blip and we get the full Strachan by the end of the year.
  20. Yep. It's just pointing and laughing, which as the teeny tiny lower league club faced with a European Megarich Megafanbase Megaclub on our doorstep we're allowed to do that. We'll never know what it could be like to be that successful and world renowned so we have to take the micky. What is hilarious is the fans of said SuperClub don't seem to be focused on their galacticos and their challenge for their rightful Champion's League spot but instead are completley besotted with us and post on here over and over and over again. Utter freaks.
  21. It is absolutely the right time to panic. Pardew talked about chalking off the ten points by the start of September which as an objective was neither unrealistic or unachievable by organising (and selecting) the right personnel. We are now way off track. Yes it is three games in but we are p155ing the collective anticipation hope and goodwill up the wall very quickly. Charlton have made a cracking start under Pardew's deputy. Leeds used -15 to charge up the league. I'm sick of people saying how impossible our task is. Pardew is being paid hansomely for a job his CV says he can do. He does need to start doing it quick. And no, I am not calling for his head, but I am sick of season after season of lame give them until Christmas, no give them until March, no point sacking him now etc etc. Pardew is the big name manager in this division, there is no one bigger. He has to deliver.
  22. Pick any club that has been successful over the past five years, at whatever level - be it Man United, Swansea, Wigan, Peterborough or Burton Albion. They all give anodyne rallying calling interviews to the local media week in, week out. All of them. All the time. Suddenly not doing interviews to the local paper and the official club website is not going to win us a single additional throw in. It's just part of the job. We're stuck with them, much like Wasps, Tesco and Alan Hansen.
  23. I am now slightly concerned that we have employed the Charlton Athletic Pardew we feared rather than the Reading Pardew we wanted.
  24. What a load of bo llo c ks. We were never going out of existence and even if we were it doesn't mean we all have to dance jigs of gratitude for our wonderful players when we have been utterly played off the park by Swindon. The only w*ankers are those that think we have to say "well done chaps, you were brilliant" even when we've been utterly dicked out of sight.
  25. Rasiak - the ultimate impact sub. Christ.
