We are currently dropping out of the playoffs due to QPR taking the lead. Not good enough.

You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone
Ted Bates Statue replied to Monk's topic in The Saints
Sounds like such an exciting time to have been a Saints supporter, with so much young talent breaking through and the 4-2-4 formation. I always feel Nichol's tenure goes under the radar, perhaps due to being sandwiched between the Lawrie Mac era and then the lightning rod of Branfoot's style of management. Also, taking place just prior to the formation of the premier league doesn't help. I was also going to complain that the wikipedia season reviews don't even cover it in any detail, but as i write this I see that there are now updates going as far back as the 83-84 season - thanks if anyone on here was responsible for this. -
I do feel a bit sorry for him as it just didn't work out for him here at all, and now seems to have been totally outshined by the novice, Tonda. Ah well, maybe his old team Lens would have him back... What do you mean, they're currently flying at the top of Ligue 1?!
-
Because he wasn't interested in reuniting with Rasmus? And still won't be when Spurs finally cut him loose?
-
People hear the name Frank and assuming we're tapping up Thomas Frank from our North London Yobbo friends. Wolfgang Frank anyone? Was a major influence on Klopp. He would almost certainly breathe new life into our squad and help clear out the dead wood.

You've finally been rumbled @Dusic What happened to those comparison threads where you dredged up old players during international weeks? Damion Downs v Jordan Robertson might be a decent shout.

Setting aside their continued poor form in Europe, there are parallels with us in that since the change in manager, they've won 4 out of 4, followed by a 0-0 draw. I would personally have felt more confident in Rohl but there were umpteen chances this year for it to happen, so I now feel compelled to remind myself that he isn't the only manager on the planet who could ever possibly be compatible with us. Good luck to them if they've set their heart on Gerrard...!

Lucy Pinder would be the logical choice because she is well known for supporting us

We should be good for another win on paper, but bear in mind that it is not allowed for Saints to have nice things and the footballing gods will not permit this to happen.

When I saw the half-time score I assumed it was 5-1 to Charlton. It took a few seconds to sink in that it was the other way round.
-
My contact suggested they would be more interested in Gerard Houllier at this stage

Think you're setting the bar too high. Some posters still haven't learned how to spell the likes of Portvliet, Atkins, Pottechino, Pellegrini, Hassenhutl etc. And these days I feel lucky just to remember vaguely who might be the latest chump in the hot seat. I've heard of this mentioned on here before, but I'm always struck by the idea that just because he was super religious she was totally happy to work with him, and overlook the period when he was sufficiently knee-deep in corruption back home that his plea bargain ended up landing one of his lucky associates with the death penalty. I guess she was ok with that bit.

No, it was msn messenger text chat

did you know that although he's most famous for a stop smoking course, in his spare time he does comedy

Winner stays on, it's only fair isn't it!

I'm sure there are all sorts of stories in the realm of weird shit that never really got an explanation. Not that recent any more, to be fair, but just in terms of our sponsorship deals, the AAP3 deal had the feeling of it being a desperate fall-back option after someone bungled our original first choice. On an unrelated note, I wonder did anyone ever find Nicola's missing spoon? Slightly more recent in the bizarre stakes was the hiring of Pellegrino and how on earth did we end up signing Carillo... easy to mock this website at times, but there were plenty on here who were proved horribly right on both counts. Appreciate I've gone off on various tangents, but hey it's an international break and it's not like there's anything Saints-related to talk about currently.

I wouldn't be so hasty to dismiss the notion. He has a home in Winchester and I saw him in the area very recently.
-
I was thinking of saying that Saints were looking by far the more likely to score, but thought against it. No matter, we've just conceded against the run of play.
-
If we were to appoint Brendon I might even settle for us continuing to be shit, just to marvel at the irony of his downward career trajectory.
-
Surprised this hasn't been brought up on here. Media seem more than happy to run with this, because his opinions were kept sufficiently vague enough to suit just about anyone's viewpoint.

Some comments from https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6786896/2025/11/07/southampton-will-still-sport-republic-analysis/ Regardless of who we appoint, Sports Republic have a bloody long way to bring back confidence in how our club is being run. Another belter was that we wanted to bring back Danny Ings. For all the misgivings on here about data in scouting and analysis, it's a bit sad that our primary source of identifying talent to join us now seems to consist of browsing our alumni on saintsplayers.co.uk

According to @Pilchards Ankerson has always been keen on Carrick, or at least he was a couple of years ago when we were looking to replace Nathan Jones. Wonder if that will put everyone here off Carrick now 🤣
