  1. Saints progress in the cup! it was closer than expected though. https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2021-09-12/womens-report-cheltenham-town-vs-southampton-fc-national-league-cup-2021-22
  2. Not another league game until Sunday 26th, when we are home to London Bees. Cup game this weekend and then international week. The cup game is against Cheltenham Town FC who play in the league lower FA Women’s National League South West Division, and have a pretty good set up in women’s football (link below if any are interested). It could be a massive score, but might be a good time to play some fringe platers. But maybe not with international week the week after. Sunday 12th Sept - 2pm DON’T KNOW WHY I AM POSTING THIS AS YOU CANNOT FOLLOW IT ANYWHERE, BUT YOU GET THE FULL TIME SCORE ABOUT HALF HOUR AFTER THE GAME. http://www.ctlfc.com/club/our-club/ CHELTENHAM T SOUTHAMPTON SUN 12 SEP 2PM
  3. Southampton v West - History. Overall - Saints wins - 34 Drawn - 31 West Ham wins - 46 We had a pretty impressive home record between 1995 and 2016, only losing once in 15 games, but then from 2017 we have only won once at home to the hammers in 5 games. So about time to put that right, but I’m going for a draw as there has been a far few of them. 2-2. AT HOME 1995 - 2016 Saints Wins - 8 Draws - 6 West Ham wins - 1 2017 - Present Saints Wins - 1 Draws - 1 West Ham wins - 3
  4. Some would call it cyber bullying at times! But I will leave the old threads alone. I have been a very naughty so and so apparently. 🙄
  5. They are in a league lower and independent because Southampton FC did not have a women’s team linked to the club until 2017. But because the independent club is solely a women’s club the coverage is far better as it is not seen as a “little side product”. Southampton FC need to see the bigger picture and buy into it a little more.
  6. This is what I was saying. The official Southampton FC site gave the final score as 0-8 for an hour! The Twitter feed had nothing during the game and nothing at all even at full time. Even the Facebook page did not put the score up for about 2/3 hours after the game. It is frustrating as the other Southampton team have a Twitter feed that gives up to date action from the game. All in the club could be doing much much more!
  7. It would be good if the club would have the women’s team play before the men’s team if they have a home game on a Sunday and the women do as well. It would be an amazing experience for team. Or even do it independently for say the home game against the skates, just make it at St.Mary’s and promote it, better than the England game!
  8. I see them as part of Southampton Football Club who are a very forward thinking club and should be championing their woman’s team. We have a very good team that I would expect to be in the top flight within 5 years. I know you can check the scores in the championship on Sky Bet (other betting sites available).
  9. Oh my word. It was the BBC that got the score right, and the official Southampton website have updated their score now from 0-8, to 0-9. Unbelievable.
  10. Oh yeah, it’s all about the ‘big names’ to appeal to the global market. I’m still trying to work out why the winners of the northern and the southern have a playoff to see who get into the championship (according to Wiki) but 2 teams get relegated from the championship? Also what if the teams relegated are 2 southern teams, that just does not add up. I think the whole structure will find its feet over time. It does seem Ipswich will give us a run for our money. Then in a playoff anything can happen. The BBC at first only game us a point, so they were checking Twitter and took the result from the other Southampton team. They now have us on results as winning 0-9 not 0-8. It’s all a little shambolic.
  11. Turns out not a bad day again. I think we may go up again. Always had a good team. https://www.southamptonfc.com/women/results/2021-22
  12. I know a lot of supporters are not or cannot get into it, but now they are part of the club and hopefully heading towards the top flight in the next few years, it is just another part of SFC to get behind and support. We are all Saints after all. The coverage by the club is awful, as the game finished 20 minutes ago, but I can find out what is happening in the game from the Southampton team that are not associated with the club. 🙄
  13. I am following the debut season of Southampton FC Women in the national league southern. I say following, but I am finding very hard to find out anything when the match is going on. Even the Twitter feed on the official site is rubbish. Looks like sky bet only have from championship up. I get the feeling that this is going to be the start of a successful period for the club. Played 4 won 4, with the last game being 9-0, as we look for promotion this season into the Championship and one off the top flight. I am fully aware it is not for everyone but it is part of Southampton FC, so to me it will add to the success of the club. So comment if you are interested. Also if anyone has better ways or anyway of following the team when it comes to matches then please let me know. Going to games is not possible until they have some up north! some links - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/womens-premier-league-south/table - Table https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/womens-premier-league-south/scores-fixtures/2021-08 - results and fixtures https://www.southamptonfc.com/women/matches/2021-22/national-league-southern-premier/hounslow-vs-saints-2021-09-05 - Southampton fc page.
  14. Yeah he ruled himself out of internationals so better not be seen on the training ground 😬
  15. Yep or the game would be a Sunday.
  16. I see a theme. 😬
  17. I do agree with most of this, but I do hear racist comments still and it frustrates me rather than angers me. Sometimes it is plain ignorance and others it has been thrown as abuse. But what I heard in the 80’s and 90’s was much worse and it was mostly (not all) at football unfortunately. All I can do is show my disagreement of such comments and educate my children that is not ok to discriminate against anyone. Then hopefully this will go a small way. Oh and should that not be Anti, Anti racism? “I don’t think anyone is anti racism” said Turkish 😬
  18. Overall I think we can agree that as a country have come a long way since the 70’s, 80’s and even more recently on all these matters. The media now is so under the microscope and instant that things seem much worse than they actually are. You drill down and compare to yesteryear and, well there is no comparison. It does not mean that we do not go on educating and try and continue trying to improve things even further.
  19. I just don’t understand why people feel that strongly about the gesture that they feel they have to boo. But they do and they will continue to, as it is a gesture that will continue now for a long time because of this.
  20. I agree. Like I said if all we have to worry about is anti anti racism then it’s not that bad. Ok then you have Twitter as some fans completely overstepped the mark because we lost the final and they desperately looked for scapegoats.
  21. Ok yes, not all, but I just cannot understand why people would boo. It is 5 seconds, just carry on with what you are doing. Sometimes I miss it happening. I don’t really get booing anything, it’s not a panto!
  22. This. It is 100% a society problem. Racism, sexism, homophobia… and discrimination. It was also never be completely eradicated, but we need to voice that it is not acceptable as in the past it has either been laughed about or people have accepted and that it was the ‘norm’ and joined in with the bullying/insults. All we can do is keep educating our young that it is just not acceptable behaviour. Times will continue to change slowly over a period of time.
  23. Yes it is still there. The booing is a way of showing this, without shouting racist slurs. ‘but not racist’ just don’t like politics in football.
  24. Agree 100% and I will not get involved with even trying to argue a point on here. This is where I compare in the 70’s and 80’s when there were monkey noises in the crowd and people throwing banana, to now when people are just booing the gesture of taking the knee, and can only take the positives from this that we have come a long way. I cannot understand why you would boo the gesture unless you are racist. Why should it bother you that much, oh that’s right ‘keep politics out of football’ ok then. There is no place in football and no place in society for racism (these of course are linked).
