Dr Who?

I got the feeling yesterday that the players on the pitch and even the Saints supporters in the stand were just drifting and now waiting for the playoffs. Weird really as even though unlikely we were still in with a shout if we put a really good run together. Also even the Blackburn fans and they are still in a relegation battle, no matter how unlikely that they will drop. It all had a rather last day of the season feel. If we go into a game against Coventry with the same mentality, we will come away with no points. Coventry are fighting for that playoff slot and I think we will come undone in this games. 1-2. If we attack and play like we can going forward we could nick it 3-2 or something like that. I have no idea and neither does our manager, players or supports. 🎢

He seems to be drifting further away rather than closer to achieving the balanced team. After defeat to Bristol City he seemed to get the tactics spot on against WBA. Since then we have been poor.

Saying the above, I have seen us away 8 times this season and the first clean sheet was yesterday, but that was for overall playing football the worst I have seen for being disjointed. I went to Sunderland as well, where every time Sunderland attached they looked like Barcelona from a few years back. We still played football well and that was a bit of a freak result. I honestly cannot put my finger on it as things were going so well until we added even more players to an already complicated choosing the best starting team and formation, in January. To me that is where on paper it all started going wrong and our form nosedived. That and drawing Liverpool in the cup!

Also the after match comments and something I said myself directly after the game, is that RM cannot seem to get the balance between defence and attack right. Cleans sheets or scoring goals and conceding. It seemed to me like a bit of a cocky ‘you can’t have it both ways, so what do you want’, when really he has the players at his disposal to execute the balance. It is also his job to work this out. The concerns that I have is that there are 7 games left until the playoffs and RM seems even further from knowing is best starting 11, the formation to play and the best style of play to win games. This is a big concern, as he has even adapted his russball a little. I do not know the answer to this as I am not a football league manager, but with the the subs yesterday and the formation changes and where players were playing at the end, I do think RM is losing the plot, and he needs to find it pretty sharpish as the season will be over in a month and the playoffs ready to go.

Terrible. Nothing was working, the passing was not sharp at all. Balls in the air rather than on the ground. short hospital balls with no pace on. Balls wide straight out of play. Passing direct to opposition. High balls to Fraser! Do not think Martin had a clue what to do so made loads of changes. We never settled into any kind of method of playing, it was a bit shambolic, everyone of them looked tired and leggy, sloppy and just not on it if you ask me. Play like that and we will get nowhere in the playoffs. Just fingers crossed 🤞 we hit some form before the 2nd week of May!

Also means that the likes of Birmingham, Millwall, Stoke, QPR, Swansea and our opposition will be battling hard tomorrow, when we are just bobbing along waiting for the playoffs.

I was at that game, I did think he was going to screw up the finish but there was some Saintsy defending by Ipswich.

The whole women’s structure is taking time to filter through, but it is getting there. Frustratingly there are 1 place each for the northern national and southern national now rather than a play off for the 2 winners for one place. Felt sorry for Wolves a couple of years ago. Should be playoffs as well in the championship, and the northern & southern national league. But as I say it will get there. Pompey are coming up with Newcastle, so we get a derby, but Newcastle I feel will steamroller into the Super League. But fair play in our second season only being a couple/3 wins off. 👍

If only we could blinking defend. I have no problems and we have no problems with scoring, but the last time we did not score was back on September (in the league).That was a 0-1 home defeat by…Ipswich! This match will very much depend on how Ipswich approach the game, as they are very capable of scoring for fun, and especially against our defence. But if they do attack then it could be a who can out score who anything 4-4? I do think they will be cautious, but I think they would be wise to just go at us from the off. If they are cautious, we could nick it 1-2 or 2-3. I can see this being a draw 2-2, but I do think there will be goals goals goals. So get your money on a 0-0.

I would say this is most clubs, unless they hit the ground running.

I am not convinced about our form. Yes we have a really good side, but we are making very hard work of things for the team we have. For this reason I do think it will be the playoffs for us. Please prove me wrong 🙏

I do not think Leicester or Ipswich will win today. It really will be down to those 2 away games for me Ipswich and Leicester, then we will see if Leeds away means anything. Think Leeds will win the league and Leicester might hold on to 2nd, but will depend on the form of us and Ipswich. Hats off to Ipswich they do not look like dropping away, even though they did a while back. Playoffs will be fun, but could be heart ache. Still all up for grabs at this stage for sure, but we have made it slightly more hard work with the loses at home to Hull and Millwall.

What I do not understand is why we are not getting the Preston game in between Sunderland today and Middlesbrough on 29th. oh today 2-2

Same reason I hope Bolton go up, as that will be my 4th closest Northern game, after Boro Sunderland and Preston. Also hoping that Blackpool get into the playoffs and go up. Of course none of this will matter if we get our act together.
