My apologies - although SNSUN was referring to the first half and I didn't think Lemina came on until the end.......when Leicester scored. Coincidence? Anyway, sorry if I misinterpreted. Although, to be fair, my old boots have got more chance of shining than Lemina.

He's not on loan at Fulham. They've already bought him .......for an undisclosed fee......as far as I know.

West Ham 2 Villa 1. Jack Grealish: An undoubted footballing talent, but his diving and play-acting makes him look nothing but a complete and utter knob! I should imagine if he ever goes to a supermarket and someone enters the same aisle as him, he'll go down claiming their trolley hit him. Does he walk around at home just falling over? And don't the referees watch videos of games? Can't they see that every week he is cheating them into giving fouls. Other Villa players are starting to do it as well. He should give up give up football and take up diving. He's better than Tom Daly. Anyway - I've attached the Jack Grealish training video available at all good retailers this Christmas.

I will start by saying I am no expert in this. These are only my thoughts. Certain members of my family have ended up with dementia, Alzheimer's etc. To the best of my knowledge my Grandmother, Aunties and Uncles who are all long since gone, and who suffered these ailments, never headed a football in their life. The fact is, a certain percentage of the population will suffer from these terrible diseases. To me, it therefore stands to reason that a certain number of those will be footballers. Using only Nobby Stiles as an example, no doubt they head footballs in training, but on the pitch I don't remember him being a prolific header of the ball, unlike say, Jack Charlton who reportedly also had dementia. We are told Sir Bobby also has dementia. So, I'm not dismissing the idea that heading the ball can have a detrimental effect, but equally from the little I know it's not the only reason. Is there a particularly high proportion of footballers who suffer these diseases compared to the rest of society (genuine question). Whilst on this subject, best wishes for a full recovery to Raul Jiminez after yesterday's horrible head clash with David Luiz. Fractured skull apparently and already operated on.

I have found a winning formula. With 20 minutes to go, I now simply switch the TV off. I feel much better for it and as far as I'm concerned, in my head we beat Wolves 1-0 and we beat Manchester United 2-1. We beat Newcastle 1-0. We cruised to a 4-1 victory at Villa and 2-0 against Everton. We also beat West Brom and Burnley. And....for the Spurs match I actually switched off at half time as soon as they got their first, so we actually beat them 2-1. There you go.....much better. I can confirm, in my head, we are now comfortably top of the league.

They're allowing a full house back in at Fratton Park.........based on the fact that Covid would be too sh*t scared of entering.
-
Apparently - so I read, yesterday was also the 15th anniversary of George Best's passing. Coincidence. Both genius footballers, and both dying too early having succumbed to the slippery slope of drink and in Maradona's case, drink and drug addiction.
-
I have just watched youtube - Maradona's best 10 goals. Pretty good, but not quite up to the standard of Le Tiss!!!!
-
VAR was about 32 years too late on that one. Obviously revered in Argentina but I can't help thinking that for what seems like many years he has just been a complete embarrassment.
-
Very silly......but in keeping with that idea, Officer Crabtree from the same Allo Allo series, who always mixed his vowels up and made everything sound slightly suggestive, should be the Rennes coach. "OK lads, don't give any silly free kocks away, but we should still tickle their strokers if they approoch our box".......sorry.

Liverpool should have a black armband incorporated into their kit design. They seem to wear one in every match and it would save them the trouble of having to put one on. The last thing we want is one of their players pulling a bicep or dislocating his shoulder while putting the armband on.
-
Hang on, I can't do two things at once. I'm trying to put my black armband on and light another candle for them at the same time. Bloody multi-tasking.
-
We scored 9 in one game? A bit before my time....just about, but thanks for that memory anyway. So how come the commentators don't mention that at every bloody opportunity, just like they do when referring to the 0-9. I bet the 9-2 (against Wolves) game in 1965 doesn't get a mention on Monday night, but I bet the other one does.....at least 2 or 3 times.🙄
-
Assuming we are not too far off where we are now in the league come January, it makes whoever might be on the radar easier to attract to the club that say, if we were in or near the bottom four.
-
Great news. He's obviously happy here. He is one I thought may have gone back to Europe to see out his career and may well have done so with any of our previous (3) managers. To me, he looks leaner and fitter (as many of them do) under Ralph.
-
I'm in a prediction league with some mates and have gone 1-0 to Wolves, only to offset any disappointment in losing, but I have to say if we play likewe did against Everton and Newcastle then I'm secretly feeling confident. 1-2 Saints.
-
Exactly. And we beat them (last month?). I do wonder if Mr Klippity Klopp could resist the Germany job if they came calling. Pure speculation of course.
-
Spain beat Germany 6-0........the world has officially gone mad!!!
-
Agreed. No need to start him yet assuming all are fit (excluding Danny Ings) and then if everything is going well, possibly introduce him late on for the experience and to protect/rest one of the others. A late goal from N'Lundulu would do wonders and definitely give us options if anyone else gets injured.
-
9 points would be "dreamworld" but not impossible. 7 points (2 wins and a draw) would be pretty damn good. Even 6 (two wins and a loss) would be good. 5 points (2 draws and a win - keeping the unbeaten record) wouldn't be disastrous. Any less than that based on current form would be disappointing.
-
Thanks for that Vectis - I'd forgotten that. Can only be good news then. I can't see him wanting to go anywhere else.
-
I was a pro-Walcott signing and in the two games he has played I think he has proved his worth. Running at defenders with pace in today's football climate, the slightest touch by a defender will bring free kicks and penalties, hopefully in dangerous places, and we now have the the ideal weapon (JWP) to cash in on those free kicks. a goal from him would be great. Look what Che Adams has become once he got that blinder against City. Yes, Theo is probably on big money, but remember, he didn't cost us a transfer fee. If he carries on playing like he has so far, there may well be a fee to pay next year.
-
I never thought I'd say (or see) this. I've just watched Jack Grealish play three quarters of a game of football and I don't think he fell over once. I reckon Southgate's had a word. Obviously a Villa tactic (some of their other players have started doing it as well) and not England.
-
Many thanks for posting the interview. There's a lot of positive stuff in there. Obviously values the trust he has with Semmens and the club. Positive news about Danny Ings too. Realistic view on Saints chances of a top ten finish, but there is also a suggestion between the lines that we can better that. Interesting comments about PEH too. His Missus is happy too "in the South of England" which sounds like they are well settled. (Wasn't Puel's wife unhappy in England?......no excuse for the boring football though, I know) Our Ralph is no mug. He knows what he's doing! 92 clubs in the English Football League and I reckon between 85 and 87 of them wish they had our manager!

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
Saint Keef replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
It's a horrible thought, but imagine an international footballer (possibly a high-profile player) dies from Covid 19 having been on international duty (whether it be for a meaningless friendly or some tin-pot competition), the outcry that would cause would be immense. The footballing authorities wouldn't have a leg to stand on. It would probably see the end to all internationals for some considerable time and may even halt domestic football for a long time. These internationals (as SW5 Saint says above) are reckless and unnecessary. Some would say dangerous.
