  1. And the smokes from the disabled kiddues and vulnerable adults.
  2. As it happens, I'm not rabidly for or against. I do understand they are ****ing a lot of entirely innocent people off, but also, sometimes active protest that actually impacts on things, people, businesses, is sadly all that gets noticed. I actually thing they have bigger fish to fry that a new strip at Stansted, but I also sort of agree with smoe of their more reasoned sentiments. Not enough is being done, too much apathy is rife.
  3. To be fair the only reason people are bothering about that whole malarkey, the only reason you and others only have a problem with Obama being president is because he's black.
  4. Hmmmmm.
  5. Stanley, an event of that magnitude would have to be a truly colossal mega-tsunami. There are things that can cause these, but Southampton itself wouldn't be in the direct route of one, though naturally would be likely to be affected. I do wonder about the survival of the species. Earth will someday surely be doomed, for humans, for whatever reason. I think it depends on whether we do ever get to travel in space before this.
  6. have you played "With Yourself"?
  7. I think you're adding 2&2, then getting 3449835687, bognor. Rather him run the economy than you on that basis.
  8. Yes, slipping up whilst speaking is certainly enough to make me think he shouldn't be in charge. What?
  9. F*cking Gastarbeiters, taking our bratwurst..

    Oh yeah

    Why did you?
  11. No, he's a white Briton born in Romsey.
  12. Bloody immigrants.
  13. I was expecting a struggle, with the possibility of both a pleasant surprise, or relegation if things went down the pooper. If we survive, I'll be happy enough to be honest.
  14. I wouldn't be surprised if it does go. Quietly, at least, it does look as if some slightly more sensible develoment is taking place. While I whinge about the flats, at least a few of them are reasonable, higher value, etc, and in with a shout of providing some genuine fresh impetus to the bottom end of town. What with West Quay and now IKEA, I think we may well see something like it. Whether or not it'll look like the above, or be any good, is a different matter.
  15. Off the new 4-lane stretch might have made more sense, even, so yeah, Eastleigh way.
  16. Oh yeah, another gem. Marvellous.
  17. In short, TDD - I say those things when comments are just way out there without basis. When someone can apply rationality to something, remove it from the realms of hatred and so on, then I respect their view a whole lot more, even if it isn't in line with my own. Also, I'm not that dissimilar. I don't always come down on the left. It might surprise you to know that I don't support unlimited immigration. I don't support total pacifism regardless of the circumstances. I'm often split - ideally, I think people should have a right to as many kids etc as they want, but in practice, I go much firther to the right. Sometimes I wish people had to get a sodding license before they could have kids, for example... etc.
  18. It ****es me off when anyone, no matter what their ethnicity or nationality, religion, etc, abuses the welfare state etc. Simple. including immigrants who have no intention of working. I just contend that there aren't as many as some people seem to feel there are.
  19. Seriously WSS, you're bringing nothing of value to this, at all. I'm not going to bother to respond to your strangely selective replies.
  20. TDD, for god's sake, i have said already that actually I am not in too much disagreement. It's ridiculous, why do you think (assume) I support crazy individual cases like this? I don't really blame the woman, but it's entirely clear something has gone wrong at local government level and possibly with policy higher up. Certainly with how it's been implemented in this case. If you did bother to read all of my posts, not just certain lines, you would realise I'm not quite as extreme leftist without reason as you think. I do consider myself to be left of centre, but only because everything I know etc leads me there. I don;t believe what i believe BECAUSE i want to be left of centre. I'm a pragmatist above all else.
  21. When did I say people should accept my opinions? You can tell me to shove them up my arse for all I care. I value my opinion, doesn't mean you have to. Again, just speaking drivel. More brilliant reading skills and selective hearing. Great work.
  22. Ah, well done for contributing. Also, where did I say changing opinions made you an idiot? You're making things up, as usual. I'd say people should always seek to be flexible in their opinions- if the facts dictate that.
  23. Obviously I would never disparage the good name of St landrew. Also, I was merely speculating. No crime against that, guv'nor..
  24. If you actually read my posts properly, TDD, you'll see it's not quite as simple as you put it. I only view those opinions as stupid etc because they themselves are so far from being objective. I mean - I am not going to bother considering views that I already know sit so far outside of objectivity, because they won't contribute anything to it. if you give me genuine, hard facts, I will factor them in and consider them, but that also means looking at counter arguments and so on. That's why, when someone brings up one example of a stupid immigration case, I will usually argue against it - not to say that it isn't true, but instead that it is not a reflection of the whole issue. That's why I call it lazy thinking, because some people do genuinely base extreme views on one or two hyped up examples. I don't understand why you can't see that simply isn't much of an opinion worth having.
  25. They ****ing employ me. Makes me sick! Four really good examples: 1) The Quays. We could have built a world class olympic standard venue there. Had the room, had the money. Inexplicably, we failed to do so, despite all that potential. Crazy. Just crazy. 2) West Quay retail park instead of better use of the substantial geothermal energy there. We could have been a whole lot greener, and done some interesting things with such an interesting natural resource. But no. We put up some big sheds, going for the quick buck and the nice fat backhander, probably. Morons. 3) Leisure World. Fine, build a bloody great nasty complex, meet the needs of the masses, no matter how nasty I find the place. But WHY give planning permission to build a giant shoe box? It's one of the most horrible structures I've ever seen. Why not make it a bit better? Cost cutting stupidity. 4)Ocean village. Just.. what were they thinking when they built that old one? Why no more development until it died a slow death? And why more and more and more and more and more flats? Hopefully they will bring some positives in the end, but why not develop it with a more holistic approach? As it is, the pitcher and piano area etc is going the sort of right way, but again, so much more could have been done. Southampton is typified mainly by excelling at one thing alone - mediocrity.
