  1. What a load of ****. That could have happened, and worse, and HAS happened, under all sorts of governents in this country. More ignorant sensationalism from someone who moved to the USA. Well done.
  2. Well you're one of the lucky few, but it's one of the priviledges your job afforded you. Am I correct in thinking you never saw it, though?
  3. Also, in regard to sex changes etc.. I'm pretty certain many more people in other countries will die worse deaths and more preventable ones than the pensioners you mention, TDD. That doesn't make it OK, of course, but in context, in the coldest statistical terms, at least they are pensioners at all. Many don't make any age across the world. Also - the price of that sex change op you mentioned - we almost certainly take that much capital and much more out of national assets of other countries, and feed it into our own economy, every single day. So while I can, on the surface, understand your consternation about balance of spending etc at times, there are much bigger, more fundamental issues at work.
  4. There's a middle ground I think between the two extremes in regards to this. For one thing, it isn't really workable to continually think in terms of relativity. if we feel bad, we do. On paper, it may not be as woe-worthy as something else someone has gone through, but if it feels bad to us, while perspective should be used, it just does. We can't go through our lives always considering the whole world, as we were born into this society and should live our lives without feeling intolerable guilt as it achieves nothing. However - I think we should at least make an effort to appreciate our standard of living, and also that of others compared to us. In doing so, we should attempt to gain enough perspective to enable us to hold on to the realities of the world at large, and our own situations and problems, in the wider context, even as we do live in our microcosm. Also, of course, if we do really care about how bad others have it, how many of us have downed tools and gone to help in the most direct way possible? Not many. Some of us make a contribution or do other things to impact on the world.. well, not always positively, but less negatively, and I think this should be farly standard. We have a right to live our lives in our society, but the position we are in should come with responsibilities that priviledge allows us to choose. I for one genuinely do try to keep context about things happening in my life by thinking about things like Darfur. I will pay a little more for things - though not more than I can actually afford, there's that line - if I believe it might actually be a good thing to do so. In short, putting our fingers in our ears (la la la) to either the world at large our the reasonable pragmatisms of our own existence is stupid. As with most things, a balance between the two is, at least in my view, the best course. I don't think there's a lot of point in continually being critical about every element of our admittedly decadent society and lifestyle, but equally, I cannot understand or tolerate people who literally give no thought whatsoever to others in the world as long as they are ok.
  5. Some of those are pretty special. It's both a shame and a wonderful thing that it's not easy to get there and see it.
  6. The combat, graphics etc is all good. Yet the constant criss-crossing of the map in such a laborious way, always having to fight the same battles just by moving around, really grates. More bus stations would have eliminated the games biggest problems.
  7. You're so mellow these days.
  8. Lots of potential, lots of good bits, countered by a lot of bad bits and failure to capitalise adequately on said potential. It's not a bad game, but it's certainly not brilliant.
  9. Lol
  10. Good. These are sensible points, and in this context, the immigration point has validity. Yet I also see the other things as contributing more.
  11. Who do you blame?
  12. I've picked a few people up. The alst was some crazy english weirdo in france. She was mental, so we got rid of her. By killing her. I have hitch-hiked in france, also, from Ruoms to Nimes. Only about 45 miles as the crow flies but it wasn't as easy as it sounds, particularly as I don't really speak French..
  13. Kaboom This whole PC gone mad sh*t is so boring, by the way. It's nothing to do with PC again. it's just politeness and professionalism. Maybe having guidelines etc is a bit ott, but get some perspective. It's not exactly a big deal, idiots.
  14. Come on b-anterers. You could pay baj a mere £5.
  15. I think 12 shots, 8 on target, to 2 shots, 0 on target, certainly suggests we're being dominant.
  16. I think that's an outdated, irrational view, frankly. The world is not as it was 100 years ago, let alone 500. it will never be the same again. the world is, more than ever, a melting pot. Insular ideas are pointless and doomed to fail. it is better to accept and work within reality. Britain is not a white country. Britain is a country of people, simple as that. Regardless of faith, etc, as long as basic ideals and so on are upheld, there's no issue as far as I can see. I actually agree that immigrants should largely adapt to our culture - or at the least, abide by our laws and important customs. It comes with the choice to move here. The thing is, I also thing natives should abide by them, and half of them don't. many white people are ignorant, nasty, naive morons, who have little regard for the ideals of Britishness. Also, regardless of whether you see it as a problem or not, any hegemony will generally be balanced out by a more vocal minority. it's why you don't get "straight rights" marches - because straight people already have the rights. it's not that complex. Some of it is unfortunate - as an example, at around the same time as the Stephen lawrence case (obviously covered a lot in the media, but also clearly a nasty, nasty crime perpetrated by ignorant morons), there was another racist murder, just as barbaric, perhaps more so, also motivated by race and ignorance - but by a group of Asians on a white kid who had nothing to do with anything. In theory, it's disgusting that the latter got hardly any media coverage - but the media covers things by perceived social importance, I guess, and there simply IS more of an issue, and a greater prevelance, of white on minority race hate crime. That's why. I'd never say it's ideal. If rights etc and the more subtle, intangible social balances, were all well and good - then it would be inexcusable. Yet I can understand it. Most importantly, all were brought to justice, which is what matters.
  17. Dicko, some of the BNPs policies are not entirely unreasonable, at least not in print. No-one denies this, but it's clear they have to be for them to become more 'legitimate' in many eyes. Anyway, me and my crazy, drippy, communist, hippy, tree hugging gay ilk, would do this, instead. We say Britain is infinite, and it’s never time to shut the door on anyone, ever. We don't bother to think about econonmic pragmatics at all, and in fact give all immigrants (especially the illegal ones and criminals) gol mansions and all our jobs and women. Also, we hate the West so much that we actively invote anti-Western Islamists. Particularly Islamists, but actually, we also invite any extremists, as long as they're not christian, because we hate them and all other Western things. Actually, we help train Al Qaeda operatives. And we're all gay. We would RAISE taxes hugely by deliberatly advocating and promoting all Politically Correct bureaucracy and insisting that every able bodied person pays their way instead of expecting to sponge off the rest of us. We would restrsict British freedom, independence and prosperity by getting out of the EU as it's not leftie enough for us. In fact, we would just destroy all industry for a laugh, and join the US as a state, as it's even less free than the EU. We believe that the banking system be served productive industry and the real economy, rather than the other way round. We would treat criminals as the Gods they are, and make deterrence and fair play for victims the fundamental enemies of the criminal justice system. We are so overly obsessed with over PC leftie loony over PC-ness that, in a effort to be equal, we would kill all christians and have Islamic symbols everywhere, and mandatory Qu'uran readins. Also, we are so opposed to oppression that we would force everyone to be gay and black. Or we will shoot them. The thing is, half of you crazies do genuinely seem to think that having left of centre ideals, in any area, let alone policies, is fundamentally anti-British. I mean, come one. The BNP isn't genius in saying that they value freedom and independence. It isn't alone in disliking Islamic, or any other, extremism. it isn't alone in wanting to protect British people. It isn't alone in thinking some of the more crazy examples of bureaucracy are simply daft. These things are NOT HARD TO WRITE. Who is stupid enough to believe other parties actively like stupidity, are anti-British interests, hate ****es and christians, etc? It's so cheap, so retarded. PS - Stanley - as it happens, in ideal terms, I don't think there should be the MOBO awards or black police federation etc etc. At all. or at least, I don't think they should have any more right to exist than a white equivalent. the problem is about balance, and while imbalance in society remains, minorities will always have more mediums such as this. A hegemony doesn't need them.
  18. Sure, sometimes. Of course. We all are. The point is - I believe we should try not to be as far as possible. On the other hand, we make assumptions naturally, an it's a normal part of our thought process and assessing risk, possibilities, etc etc - but aftter some initial assumptions are made, they should always be flexible and based on more than one set of information. So sure, I could freak out at every bearded asian chap I saw, but I should actually be aware that te odds of them being a suicide bomber are incredibly low, and that in all probability they don't even have extremist views. In fact, they may well not even be Muslim at all, or religious, etc.
  19. Indeed. Which is the fundamental problem with prejudice, that coupled with the apathy of thought many people display.
  20. ooh, the Black Dog in Weymouth certainly used to be damn rough.
  21. Despite the hilarious jest, I'm actually not ginger or anywhere near it, so sorry, I can't comment. On your point, though, I'd guess that everyone has had some form of prejudice levelled at them. If you judge someone based on what you perseive them to be rather than who they are, that is fundamentally prejudicial.
  22. Feel free, dickhead. Most other people managed to contribute to this thread without being a f*cking idiot. Shouldn't really expect more from a cretin like you. I'll not contrinue this further, so if you wish to abuse me, feel free to either do so via PM, or waddle off back to b-anter with your nazi chums.
  23. There was a pub I used to occasionally go to in the meadows, Nottingham, that was rough as guts sometimes. Thing is, it was sort of a given that if you didn't want any, you didn't get any. Tough blokes pub though, some proper hard men in there. Quite a nice lot actually, if anyone who wasn't looking for it got some aggro, most would stick their neck out even if they didn't know you. Good drinking pub, see, so it was worth a pint.
