In hindsight, the lowest point for the club was the day Lowe miscalculated on thinking he'd saved the club by putting the parent company into administration. Yet another error in a virtual catalogue of them, by the end. As soon as interested parties began to gather, my spirits went up. In terms of football, there have been worse feelings, such as being at the bottom of the Premiership with Steve Wigley at the helm. Goodness knows, I don't think I'll ever get over that clanger as long as I live. That actually felt worse than the relegation from the Championship, because by then it felt unavoidable. The failure to keep Nigel Pearson after he had succeeded was a body blow for me. Another I can't believe it decision by the then new Saints board. This season, one could say, the football has really reached the bottom of bottoms. So far, in that it has been the furthest down the league the team has ever been. Minus 10 points in League One is actually worse than zero points in Third Division South, all those years ago at the start of some season before I was born [pre 1958, that is]. But the ownership is far, far better. I'd happily trade Lowe and Co in the Championship for this setup in League One. Markus and Co, Pardew and staff have all the makings of a setup that is going upwards. Instead of one that was just slowly going down and out. Good riddance, and here's to better times.

I didn't know one could be St Landrewed..? I thought, for a moment, someone was going to suggest that there is plenty of margarine on the shelves. At least I was right about something then. Stork used to be labelled as margarine though, matey. When it was still cool to be called margarine. Now everything has to be called, I Can't Believe it's not [insert supposedly bad for your health product].

Clarkson seems to think it's very good. That's a shame, because it's put me off it for a start.
-
Margarine... apart from Stork, that is.

I ran Windows 7 Beta testing earlier in the year when I had a spare PC. It was very good, but nothing I'd pay proper money for. Perhaps I'm just bored with computers. I have used the latest Snow Leopard Apple OS, and I must say it was a breath of fresh air. Far better than I remember an Apple OS being. It seemed like the best Linux, but without the nerdiness. It also didn't reek so much of Apple trendy/coolness, which turns me off immediately. However, it didn't do any everyday task that I can't do with any other OS. But credit where it is due.

Magnetic pole reversals do not cause catastrophes, and there is no evidence of extinctions of any kind being caused by a shift. It has happened thousands of times in Earth's history, and is not accompanied by ELE's. Besides, it'll be a few more years than 3 before the magnetic pole reverses again. Don't hold your breath, and keep paying the mortgage. EDIT: I grant you, it is interesting though.

That's a shame. Nice little bikes in my memory. Talking of 200cc bikes, here's one almost exactly like my Triumph Sports Tiger Cub. Mine had an Alpha Bearings racing big-end, which made it unburstable in normal use [something that ordinary Tiger Cubs were definitely not], and custom advance/retard springs which allowed the engine to rev like mad - beyond what was originally designed to do, and a 1inch Amal carb. It was good for perhaps 90-95mph, but the standard speedo only went to 80mph. I used to have motorcross and trials tyres on it, and road gearing. Totally oil tight too. Brilliant motor. Loved that bike to bits. Actually sold it to buy my first Honda 250. What a twerp..! Have a look at this example: -
Didn't Pilchards once emulate Westwood by turning up in his own version of the special fan..?. IIRC, he had a pair of nappies on, as well. Used to have a photo of it, but I can't find it.

I rode a CD175 once. Close relative of the CB200, I think. Same engine type, i.e. bored out and tweaked..? -
Very, very pretty. Lotus makes another car which has a name beginning with E.
-
Err.... no. Electric lead guitarists need only apply. Loads of great ones named out there [NOT Keef], but no mention of Rory Gallagher. I've amended that now. EDIT: Oops, just spotted him in post 27 by Trader [sounds like a band name]. Well seconded, anyhow.

Well, there's a few that I really like. One is the Gilera, and I must admit, I did like the FS1E too, but I was already looking for a bit more poke than they could offer. I was already owning 200cc and 250cc bikes by then. One day, I remember reading a plaque at some bike museum [maybe Sammy Miller's in the New Forest - must go again] and it referred to a 50cc Honda racing bike of the 1960's. I've put up a picture regarding this before of a man's hand holding the crankshaft and pistons. They're like toy models. But here's a plaque just like the one I read: The vast majority of 50cc racing bikes in history have always been 2-strokes. But Honda made 4-stroke racing bikes. Astonishing..! Look at the spec. That's of an engine over 40 years in history. Look at the RPM..! They don't do those engine speeds nowadays [granted because they are not allowed to]. 9 speed gearbox..! I would have loved to have had a go on one. -
OK I had to go and look on iPlayer. Spot the Adam's Apple..! If the bloke wants to live the life of a woman then let him be.

No. That's not my actual bike. But an identical one - colour and condition. Haven't taken many photos of my bikes over the years. Yes, I have a few prints kicking around, but I can't be bothered to scan them and put them up. I'm sure you understand. EDIT: Notice it's LHD..? BTW, I thought you said favourite bikes..? These are bikes I've ridden or owned, but they aren't necessarily my favourites. -

Having put up a picture of a Lambo you're forcing me to put up a pic of my GP125DL: -

Well I never rode a 50cc moped. But I did ride a 50cc Motorcycle. A great little Gilera Touring from 1976. It would 60+mph and return about 90mpg. The acceleration was pretty impressive too. Sadly, this is the only picture I can find of one. No bewbs either. -
Was it a Bush..?

Saw Fuller playing for Stoke on MOTD on Saturday. He was bloody excellent. Partnered Beatts very well indeed.

Of course, photos of bikes might have to be posted... with maybe a line or two of why I picked them. -

Just came in and saw this. Can I just point out that it wasn't me who transferred this thread, but my pals from admin/moderation. Just trying to remember who used to call me St Landy. It's either Ponty or Pancake... Maybe Arizona or DSM. Baj and Steve would be dark horses. Exit2 and SOB wouldn't bother. Hmm. I'll be along with my 10 favourite bikes when I've had a good think about them. -
A couple of years before I started following Saints as well. Great player by all accounts. RIP.
-
True. I actually find the way the present day Saints supporters sing it slightly annoying.

Yes I do have the necessary record deck. I also have the facility to record straight to a computer, to produce an MP3. Pity you're not a member. Find someone you know who is a member on here to PM me with your details, and we'll find a way to make it happen. Cheers.

No, nor do I. They devote a longer transmission time to the programme than ITV did, plus there are no stoppages for adverts. However, I don't make a point of watching it, as I know the Beeb will put highlights on their Football website. It's actually a very good compromise which allows them to cover the remaining 72 League teams reasonably adequately.

Yes it was, and also to Casey Stoner. As he said, quite a good weekend for Aussies.
