Why were you asking that on here..? There's 3 or 4 of you. Half a dozen at most..! Yes, many people don't like ManU, but many people don't like Pompey either. Were you looking for the support of the uninterested..?

Thanks for the input. Poortvliet only please, and other previous managers only mentioned for comparison. Ta.

Bugger gets under the radar... see..? If you feel that it shouldn't then either use another appropriate word, in this case: forget.. or self censor, as in B*gg*r. Btw, I agree with your first statement.

OK, you've had your time and comments on Burley. Time to get back to the subject - Jan Poortvliet.
-
I've actually bothered to read the comments by Poortvliet from the link, because my last post was just a general opinion of the man as a coach. I think they are outstanding. He's saying all the right things, and the players with reputations need to start listening. EDIT: BTW peeps, just to remind you, this is a thread about Poortvliet.

I didn't like the circuit. Oh it looked OK, just like a new circuit should, although it was a bit lacking in character, but that's understandable. What I mean is that right from the very beginning of the race, by its short straights and sharp corners, it spread the field very quickly. James Allen brought this my notice in his commentary, just before my first yawn. I'm not sure whether this is actually a problem of the circuit, or just a problem with F1 though, so I'm going to stay open minded for next year when the aerodynamic rules change. I like quick, close racing with plenty of overtaking chances tried, denied, and/and not successful. This wasn't it. It was pitstop strategy again. Don't get me wrong, that's an added bonus to excitement. But that's all it should be. The added bonus - not the main event. With apologies to everyone if it got loads better after I gave up.

There's a peculiar thing about the Dutch. Everybody likes them. And I like Poortvliet, and his style. I certainly like the style of play he tries to get Saints to play, and that's half the battle with getting me to be pleased. I would quite happily take boring 1-0s all the way to automatic promotion, but this is much better. Just keep it going for the next 43 games Jan.

Agree with this, and have had good experience with their laptops. Although when I was asked to advise on several machines for a company I ended up recommending Dell, but Novatech were the only realistic alternative. Both companies get the balance of spec, quality and reliability just right. As it happens, even though the Dells have since been immersed in water [they had a flood] they still work perfectly, and are a relative pleasure to use. That's not bad going.

Whatever she's in, is my favourite: Yep, it's the Pole Vault. It's Yelena Isinbayeva again. I'm sure you'll all accept my apologies for the size of picture [especially MB], in this special case. EDIT: Just noticed an even bigger version out in internet land: http://lh5.ggpht.com/_2W0XiOWhTVc/SG5plSIVpiI/AAAAAAAAIb0/A5oJw6j_s7w/1848-Yelena_Isinbaeva.jpg

No need for you to go overboard either. Whilst we all realise this was an excellent result, coming from excellent play, it does have to be maintained throughout the season. You'd do well to temper your speeches with a little less arrogance until it is entirely justified. Just because you wrap your insults to fellow members up in less than obvious packages you can still be infracted. Message received..?

A commentator's identification test for you matey. It was Gerald Sinstadt, then working for TVS, who still does match reports for the BBC Final Score.

I'm recording AI at present. Must get my Freeview signal improved.

For those of you who liked Long Way Round, Race To Dakar and Long Way Down [aware that MB never saw any so he wouldn't know whether he would like them or not], ol' Charley Boorman has been off on a new adventure this summer. He's taken his producer Russ with him and a new cameraman [must have worn Claudio out] from his Dad's home in Ireland to Sydney, Australia, by any means possible, except commercial air travel. No Ewan this time. Well, in all honesty, I thought he hogged the camera at times. But anyway, it should be fun. It's called By Any Means - geddit..?

Actually, I've always believed that [and here's one from the memory banks] Arthur Albiston, at LB, was in line and therefore playing David Armstrong onside. Look at the video; he's [No.3] there standing on the 6 yard line. Even back then, you just knew if the roles had been reversed, Man U would have been allowed the goal. They were very much the ex-Busby Babes, darlings of English football, even though they won very little.

He used to be Chris Boardman's coach back in 1992. He did transform British Cycling when he realised that if he didn't change things, then Boardman's triumph would be completely isolated. With financial backing he then set about changing the attitude too, by masterminding the World Class Performance Plan. Consequently, Cycling is light years ahead of every other British Olympic sport, although Rowing and Sailing are very well funded too, and have always had a professional attitude. He has now moved from the British Cycling arena to become Performance Adviser to UK Sport. The bloke's name..? Peter Keen. Look him up. Here's something to read about our cyclists and how they became so dominant: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/olympics/article4569198.ece

Nailed on - Ferrari.

Those are examples of Total Football. Lawrie was getting us to do what the Dutch did.

Slightly convenient thinking, don't you feel..? If it was us with those Championships you'd be singing a different song. Credit where it's due. Pompey don't have 27 unbroken years in the top flight to be proud of though. And they might end up being a yo-yo club, or worse, if they don't get their proposed stadium.

Oi, Arizona... not so bloody quick with my stuff..!

Part of my collection on Youtube. I'll let KK tell the story why his goal was disallowed: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=m_0GhYfWwPE

Not the best of F1 races, and I actually started to yawn at one point. I turned over to the Olympics closing ceremony instead. I might have stayed with it, but when you have an advert every time you get a bit of interest going, it's hard. Yes ITV, you manage to completely ruin anything you cover simply because the adverts are more important that the content of what you broadcast. [There, couldn't leave out the fortnightly ITV rant..!] One thing I have noticed this season and that is the very poor form of Kimi Raikkonen. I know he's the World Champion, but something is missing from his driving and I noticed it from the very first race. It seems to me that since the driver aid of traction control have been backed off in F1 he seems to have gone backward too. He should be right up the front, after all, his car is every bit as good as Massa's. But his driver control leaves a little to be desired IMO.

I was also one of the unlucky ones to get to a holding page. This link works a treat though. The website looks like it is going to be an excellent addition to my favourites. Well done MLG.

According to Radio Hampshire's coverage, after the game McGoldrick was asked about ownership of the goal and he said it was Lallana's. So there is no competition for the goal in their minds. I think it still stands offically as McGoldrick's goal though.
-
The Radio Hampshire stats said 21 shots on the Derby goal.
-
Quite a few of us must have really p!ssed them off in complaints in the past because it was almost impossible to have shown less of the game and still call it coverage. I made it about 15 seconds including the Derby v Saints caption at the beginning. The voice-over managed to mention our team was filled with kids, and Derby were lucky to escape without a hammering, though.
