For Pete's sake, don't tell me it's disabled in Windows...? If it is, invent another reason for why it doesn't work..!

Thanks for that, MLG. I was unaware of Nicola Cortese's statement. The upgrades to Staplewood have nothing to do with whether Saints are able to afford it or not. It has been widely reported, and by Nicola, that Markus is paying for the upgrades out of his own pocket money. The statement by Liebherr when he took over ownership, that while he was around, Saints will not have to ask a bank for one penny, was no idle boast.

Sounds like a hardware problem rather than a software one. Do you have a known good LAN card to substitute in, and to shut the on-board one down in the BIOS..? I would try this rather than fiddling around with software, first and foremost. Make sure your ethernet cable is also sound. BTW, don't worry about upto date LAN drivers. The standard one WinXP provides should do well enough. You can update it later.

I understood planning permission had been agreed in January. I remember because they could have taken until February to make the decision. The plans were that making the alterations and building was to start ASAP. Has anyone been to Staplewood and seen if any progress has been made or are you assuming none has..?

Very nice couple of videos. I loved the pace and build up of practically all the goals. There were several there that would have been quality on any football stage. Apart from the penalties, there only seemed to be half a dozen or so that were handed out on a plate, by the opposition. I had fun identifying the scorers again and was slightly surprised, because I'd forgotten how good the team looked as an attacking force prior to 2010 and the 2nd video. Although I needed no reminding of the contribution from Michail and Papa, their distinctive goal celebrations helped them stand out. Great characters, effective players. We would certainly like them back for 2010/2011. And let's make them our players too.

I know how you feel ESB, but he [buctootim] has a point. Much of today's threat to children is implied rather than real. Kids are probably little more in danger nowadays than I was when growing up. Now parents really are verging on paranoia when there is little in reality to be worried about. Children often don't have the imagination or energy to venture out the front door, in any case, and when they do, play is so controlled by adults that any childish spontaneity never materialises, let alone is lost. Yes, kids are in danger. They're in danger of not being allowed to be kids. Slightly off-topic - when was the last time you saw a child or children climbing trees for fun..?

I've been watching a few submarine/wartime films of late, and the first thing that popped into my head, as a reply, was... Infractions away..! Don't worry, you're safe. EDIT: That's sad about the museum. If anyone should take it on, it should be Notts County.

Marje says.... Can I suggest to the both of you, that you watch less and do more..? Ditch your SKY, and BTF can go off to do some lake Dinghy Sailing to get that fitness back up, and ESB can go off and buy the beer that bears his name, whilst saving £30 odd a month to prop up those hobbies. Cheers.

Had another go. Far too busy looking. There's a lot to be said for keeping it simple. Your effort Spades, is getting there, although even that looks a little busy.

That is almost perfect as a current badge redesign. As you have two white roses in the white section, I would suggest the Bargate [from a previous suggestion] to replace the single white rose in the red section. Someone care to try..?

I might read as smug here, but I don't intend to. I've been banging the anti-SKY Football drum since the idea was first mooted. Amongst the first threads I ever started on a Saints forum was called The Death of Football, and that was back in the old Red Saints Forever / Keith Legg days. Part of it was about smaller football clubs inevitably going out of business because they couldn't compete. The last thing I'll ever do is get SKY.

You know Dune, you're much older than I thought. You're correct, as VFTT points out, but £20 maximum per game was pretty lousy. Most players got a lot less. The average weekly wage, for everyone else, was £11, I believe. EDIT: Great shame about PNE. Of course, this is another result of the SKY promoted Premiership being around. The sooner the divisions become 1 - 4 again, with a fairer distribution of cash, the better.

Bit of a screw-up on the quoting front. If anyone's curious though, the QE2 sillhouette looked poor. Here - stick it on the front of the badge and find out.

Robert Louis Stevenson once said of Emile Zola that he felt that going to the toilet was the high point of his day. Thankfully, I've never felt like that, long term, but there have been moments when I've known what he meant.

I tried it. You don't want to see it. It doesn't work.
