Do we really want another broja situation? if we are going the youth direction we at least want to be making a profit on the players not just giving them a platform to raise price for parent. Clubs and then having to replace with another loan every year ?

Really not sure what we up to regarding getting a striker.. it’s been our clear priority all along, puzzles me why we take Lavia first and not go straight for delap,, also how long does it take to find out if delap is available or not? I don’t think the board will let us down here but it’s weird why it’s dragging on so long and we are prioritising other positions first

In the youth team delap looks the more prolific one, delap to me is more of a James Beattie/Harry Kane type proper centre forward whilst broja is just freakish in his pace. delao is definitely ready to start I think surely offers more threat then what we have and could be more prolific then broja I think he has around 30 goals in 32 games at the younger level

This has had our name written over it from the get go, he’s always looked the heir to the throne of broja. Would still prefer broja if we could swing it but all the smoke seems to be pointing to West Ham.. anyway delap kinda looks perfect for us anyway one of the hottest academy talents in the country powerful looks a good finisher like broja the ceiling looks high so will be happy with this

I find it strange that it’s so quiet on the striker talk.. it was the one position that you would think was top priority. Our other moves seemed to happen quite rapidly.. wonder if we are waiting on broja situation and he is the main choice ?

The part I have to disagree with is it’s not his game ? It was his game when he was in the championship with Birmingham and knocking in 20 plus goals. In my opinion we didn’t buy him to be a Ormerod or long we hoped he could step up and do that in the prem. I don’t hate adams and he does have some good hold up play but we could do better definitely, and unless we find someone else who was as profilic as Danny ings was our strike force will struggle

Would you be happy with him being our main striker then? he has done ok but nothing more, dodgy finisher and reliant on someone else to get the goals he won’t 20 m for us is record signing money so if we sold for that and used the 20m to get a delap or broja it’s a great piece of business their ceilings are far higher then his

If our new striker isn’t better then che we are our in trouble, if we were to spend 20 m right now on a striker you would hope he is an improvement on che. so for that money might as well let him go and try to get a couple of decent ones like delap broja Dembélé

I would sell che I think for 20 m hes a pretty average striker really his hold up play can be decent but not a great finisher and not great in the air..don’t think he would start for many prem sides.. for that money we can invest in the likes of broja delap Dembélé etc che is just average and will never be worth big money

It’s almost like sports republic are messing with us and leaving the most important position (striker) until last :). also good news on that if we do get delap it’s perm now, thought this was likely and we don’t need the hassle of having to loan a new striker every year.. if we are going with kids we want to be the ones who benefit long term

Exactly said this myself too in the transfer thread.. the buyback clause seems to be our way of doing things.. West Ham and Newcastle might be able to outbid us on a normal transfer fee, but will they give Chelsea the option to buy him back?? this is where our bid could be more appealing to Chelsea

I’d be happy with either him or delap do prefer broja though as he just has. Electric pace for a big striker he’s got it all really. whatever we do I just hope it’s not loans, do we really want to disrupt our team every season and be looking to replace the loan ? I hope we learned from the broja loan last season that it’s not ideal plus I thought the point in going for kids was to also buy cheap and sell at a profit

I really don’t get why everyone thinks delap would only be a loan? he’s in the same boat as Lavia and bazunu. Even if they didn’t sign haaland I doubt he would have seen much game time they would have probably played false 9 over him getting time.. now they have the hottest striker of the moment delap’s time will be extremely limited . see no reason we can’t get a similar deal with a buyback

Chez as someone who has watched him a lot if you could compare him to another player? Who is he most like ?

We can offer buybacks that the other clubs probably won’t though, which could make it a lot more enticing for Chelsea

Just wondering if there could be a slight chance in us getting broja, if we are still interested I could see us going for a similarly structured buy back as to what we are doing with the bazunu Lavia deals, this could be more appealing to Chelsea then just selling to Newcastle or West Ham with no buy back ? to be honest I do think we might have moved on and delap looks the no brainer replacement but it would be great

The only one I might actually stretch to using a loan is cole palmer as I don’t think city would actually sell him.. seems the most highly rated of the whole bunch.. mcatee could maybe still be available so wouldn’t surprise me if we even get him. im actually starting to find this approach quite exciting now stock piling a load of the greatest youth players we are bound to get some diamonds

I really think we can get him on a perm.. he’s in the same position as Lavia and bazunu were really probably even less chance of him breaking through with haaland at city plus often they don’t really play a big cr anyway.. I actually hope we don’t go down the loans option again personally if we are devoloping these youngsters we want to be making profit from it too that should be the whole point in going for youngsters. broja was great and did help us last year but it’s frustrating that we were just putting him out of our price range by playing him

Don’t see the need for a loan with delap, he’s not gonna be a first choice starter with city,, odd cup game at best really.. offer them a decent 15-20 m with a buyback at about 50-60 if he turns out totally world class they can have him back.. if not they got the 15-20 from us ?

If we are really giving up on broja, I think Liam delap stands out a mile and we really should try and get this done, big powerful goal scorer looks a bit James Beattie like in a way 15-20m and a 50-60m buyback I can’t see why city would say no. Haaland totally blocks his pathway and they also signed alvaraz We should be all over this one

Yeah it looks like we are starting from the back and adding at least one player in each position through the spine of the team.. it’s the strikers and number 10 we really need to get right though we need major surgery there

Ralph made a comment like we didn’t have the money at the time.. maybe If we hadn’t signed AA we could of got broja on a perm? anyway very frustrating if he goes to West Ham we want to be getting the benefits out of these type of deals not just alerting other clubs
