Downs would be the choice for me as he’s got the pace to get in behind and the height .. but if we must play archer 442 diamond with azaz as the 10 would probably work great in getting the best out of him I actually think archer can be prolific with the right type of service

Don’t think it’s a coincidence that archers best game by far was the cup game where he played in a 2 up front with Stewart if we want to get the best out of him something like a 442 or diamond is gonna play to his strengths, sane goes for AA really even though he can operate wide effectively I don’t see him getting in there now .. our main supply of creating chances has been from crosses since still has been here but he’s yet to really give the cf position to downs or Stewart preferring the midget through the middle I don’t think it’s a case of our strikers not being good enough just we are not playing to the strengths of any of them

I feel like still is struggling with the blend for picking the right striker or making the best of the ones he does pick .. ironically I think Onuachu would have probably had a field day with service from fellows and Fraser etc .as said above though downs has a good balance of height and pace so it seems the best fit for our current style, it’s a bit annoying the way some of the interviewers have kind of been putting negative thoughts in his head regarding downs he’s barely had a start ffs

At the moment I think downs probably has the attributes most suited to the way we are trying to play .. having archer in the middle with fellows and Fraser crossing to him is not gonna work . With downs he also makes those off the shoulder runs which azaz is likely to spot .. we need to either play to our strikers strength or use someone more suited to the way we are playing

Some our current way of playing and transfer business doesn’t make sense.. if the goal is to get wide men like Fraser and fellows putting crosses in we might as well have kept onuachu .I’m not sure fellows attributes are suited to us at all.. azaz actually did ok and showed some of his football intelligence with some clever passes

Hehe don’t think it’s the same thing .. I’m getting the feeling azaz is getting a bit overhyped on here .. the fact Middlesbrough fans where a bit torn on him probably says something when he’s got as many goal contributions as he had there .. he seems to not get into space as well if those ireland games are anything to go on no agenda against azaz from me I watched the Ireland games out iof excitement to see our new signing but he was poor in both . And seems to amble about in crowded areas which in turn makes him see little of the ball

Already starting to see why he was divisive for boro fans, he seems the type of player that can be invisible for majority of game but still capable of popping up with a goal contribution

Yep agree with all that .. also expected him to drop deep more .. I think that’s what took him out of the game he just seemed to be positioning himself in crowded areas and not getting into space

Was azaz actually playing as a ten ? Maybe it was too congested for him since Hungary defending a 2-0 lead for much of the game . I was just expecting everything to go through azaz and him to be the creator but he really just didn’t get on the ball much even though Ireland had a lot of possession

Watched most of the Ireland game yesterday to check out Finn. He was a bit invisible man yesterday didn’t really get in the game although forced the keeper into a great save with a header. Can tell he can hit a good pass but it was a underwhelming game . manning on the other hand was bloody fantastic . Marauding up and down the flank raining in quality crosses MOTM for me. He hit another two great free kicks one which was spilled for Ireland’s first goal and the other went close,also set up the equaliser with another good cross .. Ryan seems in top form at the minute think we might finally see the player we where excited about two years ago

Obviously it’s two different leagues Robinson looks much of a goal threat and assist threat imo . Dibling for me was just a very elegant dribbler looked good running with the ball but limited impact .. I prefer jay

I rated him .. had a really good eye for a through ball and was good on the ball . Think the form of Lallana and jay rod hurt his chances a lot with us

Not meaning to be negative here but is it just me that feels like there’s some carry over that is slightly dictating to who will be used by still I mean for example when juric was here he fancied a few players that where out of favour before with still it feels a bit like he’s been told who’s going that bazunu is going to be number 1 stephens maybe too .I’m not saying it’s a good or bad thing but you don’t really see any surprises who still fancies that the previous didn’t ?

Personally I think it would have been good to try and bed in our cbs with more potential like him quarshie and Sanda (gone on loan ) getting them nicely up to speed and devoloping partnerships ready for the premiership has more benefit for the future then stephens. Not really sure where to fit Thb into all this he was pretty disappointing last season and I’m surprised he’s still here tbh

Personally think we should could keep Ronnie edwards . Sure he hasn’t been great so far but he’s been playing a different system to the 4 at the back he was playing at QPR. QPR rated him so highly there must be a very decent player in there and he’s one of the more likely ones that could make the transition from championship to premier league

Weather you think we have had a good window or not this is a real pointless gamble to keep bazunu in as number one . In close games a good keeper will stop wins turning into draws or draws turning into losses . With bazunu in goal you always come away thinking should he have done better Majority of fans would see this as one of the most important positions to upgrade many would even prefer McCarthy it’s really odd that the club are ploughing such faith into him the likes of edozie didn’t get these countless chances

Hundred percent this.. I think azaz behind him in a 4231 would be ideal for downs azaz plays the kinda through balls he would thrive on

Whilst it is annoying selling fernandes I think you could argue that assists/goals wise that azaz and fellows are more proven then dibling and Fernandes. We don’t really know for certain how well they would have panned out for us in the championship both looked silky at a higher level but for actual goal contributions neither where great. This might actually work out more productive . Biggest gripe for me is the loaning out ramsdale and persisting with bazunu as number one we could do so much better then baz

Really like the look of him he’s very diminutive.. first touch looks excellent and he looks good recieving the ball under pressure twisting and turning a little modric like in the way he does this from deep .. no idea if he’s seen as a starter over downes etc but he’s a lot more cultured

Yeah probably the best way as long as still is ready to move away from the back 3 I gotta say though archer looked great in the cup in a 2 having someone to play off don’t think being a lone striker suits him at all. he’s probably our best striker having azaz behind him could also work and be the type of service he would thrive on

How do u guys see us setting up with azaz then ? it’s difficult to go away from the 3 up top without sacrificing Robinson ?

Not sure about him being one of the best players in the league tbh boro fans seemed to think he was a bit divisive but reasonably pleased as long as we don’t go and sell Matty now . wondering how he’s going to fit into the system actually ? As we haven’t really been playing with a proper 10 . There’s the option of going 352 which kinda worked well in the cup but that’ system would mean jay-rob getting dropped I am slightly more concerned about losing fernandes now as someone pointed about before can’t really get fernandes Charles azaz and downes all playing
