  1. Yes, I saw that and it quite surprised me. My theory is that the mortality from traffic accidents is lower due to the fact that traffic congestion leads to lower speeds...
  2. ..giggle..
  3. Don't worry, they can always do a rights issue to raise capital.. What do you mean, 'they aren't that sort of share'??
  4. I've got quite a few Italian FB friends who are Juve fans: I'll canvass opinion..
  5. That's a good point. Although I think we're prepared to take a cheapish punt (Mayuka?) and know the risks, I don't think we do panic buys, hence no January arrivals, who we didn't need anyway.
  6. He's 18 and I sometimes get the feeling he's still growing into his frame, although I trust Saints not to overplay a young player who is still growing and filling out. In a recent interview he commented on how he was still adapting to the sheer physicality and pace of the premiership, but I've seen signs of improvement in the last few matches and him getting out of situations through using his strength. It's a big step up from scoring against Pompey youth this season and then starting in the premiership! He's actually got good pace, particularly for someone so tall. It will be interesting to see how he progresses with a full pre-season with the first team under his belt. Personally I think he's got the attributes to make it, but I shall wait a bit before any definitive judgement.
  7. Oh Phil, what a shame, particularly after all the money you spent on the wedding and the damage to your liver.. Still, I hope today's win cheered you up. Can't help with any of your points and I don't suppose a lesbian dating agency will be much help, though there are quite a few bi's on there. Don't tell Bearsy though, as he'll get all hot and unnecessary. You might try fishing as a sport, but do it in some little New Forest stream as you wouldn't want to meet a large pike, or the Freshwater Tiger as it's known.
  8. .. and every close season...
  9. What about Cork, he's not injured, is he?
  10. I'm not an expert on Pompeyspeak, in spite of living in a PO postcode, but what are the semantics of "permanent" in this context?
  11. Or even piltock, if we're talking scots.
  12. You're a long way from your normal haunts RB, but yes, putting it like that..:-) Has GlasgowSaint left the thread? I was wondering if he really lived in Glasgow? Surely there he'd get slapped around the face every Saturday night with a wet haddock for being a tiresome pollock?
  13. We could, of course, do a direct Nutjob collection for Naomi House..
  14. Really? I've only ever noticed critical, negative, patronising, snide and frankly offensive posts but maybe that's just me. In more recent news, in Portsmouth yesterday evening one of our coaches was moaning about the recent banner flown over Fatpipes, and "it's started the war again" [i may be paraphrasing slightly]. It's not the sort of thing that regular decent fans etc etc. You wouldn't understand as you're not a regular blah blah. "Er, sorry, I've got a season ticket at St. Marys"..
  15. Funnily enough they'd have been better off smoking it... I was working in Portsmouth for a charity when the cleaners found half a dozen or so cannabis resin 8-bars ("what's this?") in some washing powder that had been donated by our dear customs and excise.. They obviously hadn't found all the consignment! Not being a smoker it didn't bother me, but I reckon some of my colleagues were upset not to find it!
  16. I can't think who you can possibly be thinking of...
  17. Presumably he was using that well known horse tranquiliser Ketamine?
  18. Lost 5-1 in the dutch cup final to PEC Zwolle. No, I hadn't heard of them either. One current regulation I agree with is the limitation in squad sizes, so that the large teams can't hoard players and deny them to other teams. Perhaps tightening up on the loan rules might help too.. How many is it that Chelsea have out on loan??
  19. There are times when Rule 1 should not apply..
  20. You do like your rhetorical questions, don't you, rallyboy? :-)
  21. Not sure we'd "decided", but it's obviously been a needed kick up the pants.
  22. Got my letter just now and won't spend any time investigating it: as Dark Munster says, my loss is a lot less than any Pompey fan's. It was a bit of 'take a punt' money and gave me the opportunity to go to AGMs. I'm binning mine: thank Christ Glasgow wasn't a shareholder or we'd have three or four new threads on the matter...
  23. An inviduous choice... so I don't make one.
  24. Deary me...and there I was wondering if it were yet safe to come on here. We lacked penetration, and our lack of depth was telling, but not a surprise to either us or the club, I would imagine. I do think the midfielders should chip in with a few more goals and I did notice quite a number of times Morgan carrying on his runs forward into the box, but when are we going to get a long range screamer or two to punish those teams that sit back against us. Mind you, I feel the same about our full backs: they've certainly all got the ability to score. If we'd have got 1 yesterday we'd have got 3 or more: I couldn't see Cardiff then scoring without leaving themselves vulnerable to our attacks. So s**t happened, but I'm not going to go into meltdown and let it completely ruin my weekend.
  25. Oooh, cheapskate! ;-) You know you'll miss out when it all gets exciting again.. I only booted the laptop as I wanted some internet advice on a DIY job I'm doing.... Oh, hello people!
