Incidentally, from The guardian " Reeves, who’s created all three goals and been the stand-out player tonight,... ".. Well done our academy!

Well, although I wasn't happy with Pelle's debut at home I don't think he had much support, either from the team or the fans. In the second half I noticed he received more balls to feet but he certainly didn't get any help from the ref as whenever he came forward towards the ball he was held by Olson. Personally I think he has to learn to be a bit nastier: backing on a bit, using his physique a bit more, the odd treading on the toes if the marker is too close.. There was no overt booing in the Itchen, but a collective sigh of disappoinmtment can be quite noticeable. If we'd got a goal I reckon we'd have got more. West Brom seem a competent team - like us in that regard - but I still reckon we have more quality..

I was there... I was there when Benali scored.. Last match at The Dell.. Alan Knight's testimonial, dodging the lumps of concrete; in the Fratton End for England U-21 with Danny Wallace, England Ladies against Turkey this year with collapsing seats and appalling loos...

Yep, I agree about Cropper... Rowe seems to have pace to burn. -
You missed the early, first and best: Junk Mail. From the time when content and not production values were important. I believe editorial meeting were held at a certain hostelry in St. Denys..

You don't occasionally go in The Guide Dog after games, do you? I'd like to buy you are farewell pint. Or The Platform or Junction before the game.. :-)

You're probably right there; mind you, I have worked at the Portsmouth Foyer... But I think Dronski sums it up best for me: I too have had some genuine laugh out loud moments on this thread, and although like all long-running series it's lost some of its edge there are still plenty of chuckles to be had.

Either way, I think it's the "Stoke" bit that may be the problem..

The old argument emerges! But we're never going to increase our fan base with current prices, and as others have intimated on here, people formerly with season tickets have given up, and at £600/700 a pop it's difficult to persuade new fans to buy them. People will pick and choose and any minor barrier to going, which wouldn't affect you if you had a season ticket, will kill a sale. Even if people can afford a ST (and I can, just) there begins to build up a barrier of resentment that you're being taken for a ride and I'm sure some people have given up for that reason. For the first time in some time I went to the pre-season friendly. A tenner to see the new players I could justify, and it was great to see all the kids there (a very high percentage with shirts too). How do you keep those people coming: not at current season ticket prices you can't. Not sure there's an easy answer, but squeezing the suckers isn't one of them.

So, whats our Uruguayan Superstar's latest sob-story ?
suewhistle replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
When historically you have called other people all sorts of names (Gashton, loser and dullard from this thread alone..), is it any wonder you get a bit of stick? Unfortunately somebody quoted my stalker who has also had a pop: he'll stick up for you.. -

Christ, finally you find something to moan about and, no surprise, it's Ramirez who, you so helpfully point out, is Uruguayan. So how is our favourite mountain fattie getting on? In the pub today somebody I didn't know commented on my (linen) trousers which "hadn't seen an iron". I forebore to mention his shirt which seemed to be 2 sizes too small and was being ironed by his gut. I'll have to remember that comment for next time. In the meantime I'm getting increasingly p****d off with the negative and critical w*****s of this world, and I think I'm getting old enough to say so. -

Back from the pub: it's sometimes hard not havng a telly! :-) Anyway, haven't read the thread but was wondering how the bed-wetters were getting on? Way to go but I'd say it wasn't all doom and gloom and in the pub I was holding my head just like Davis.. I'll go back and have a look at a few comments, but in my opinion hasn't JWP stepped up a notch? Tadic looks a real asset, Wanyama is improving all the time, and Morgan? Professionalism incarnate.

Just been reading a report about Man Utd's defeat to Swansea: I know we worry about integrating the new players into our team but Utd had only one player today who played in last year's opener, one Phil Jones...
