  1. Sorry 🙂
  2. Cos it would be a bit silly to have their kid's shirts sponsoring a rival football club...
  3. You've started early this season Wade! If Archer can actually finish and use both feet then he must surely be an upgrade on Adams. I found it frustrating that a professional football player could be so one footed, even in tap-in situations.
  4. I wouldn't necessarily blame the scouts but the more senior people who sanctioned the move: in this case wasn't it Pellegrino wanting him and Les Reed approving? I recall when we sold Bale we got Tommy Fourpast as a make-weight. Our scout told Rupert Lowe that he was a useless goalkeeper, and when Lowe asked him how he knew the reply was "It's my job to know". Another waste of a salary amongst many others..
  5. No issues in the pub and very welcoming when I went there - The Bodega, some very nice pints and lovely fan lights - but could you do something about the away end and all the stairs?!
  6. As Trousers will no doubt tell you, it _is_ a different club that we are now rivals to! I sometimes have to remind people (I live near Portsmouth) that they only paid 0.5 pence in the pound on what they owed. I recall being on the terraces under the E or W stand at The Dell back in the mid 70s and overhearing comments about the games people had seen the previous week at FP.
  7. Now featuring in the latest 'Private Eye' in their series on new MPs. Dishonourable mention of his time at Southampton and talk of terrace chants (but not the 'Swing Lowe' one). His latest antics also feature, and one can imagine which contributors on this forum would approve!
  8. They obviously have. I'll leave it to someone with more patience and energy than me to explain the implications to you.
  9. So Scottish women's football is similar to the men's then? Edit: 11-0 against Aberdeen
  10. We will! Especially if he scores half of them with his head..
  11. Really? That game really must have passed me by; when was it?
  12. No, they'll be indulging in local gastronomic specialities: fruits de mer at Concarneau and Boulogne, roast chicken at Bourg-en-Bresse, wine tasting at Bourdeaux.. As for Chateauroux, avoid the Buffalo Grill next to our hotel de passage which we stayed at crossing France towards the ferry last week!
  13. Of the teams you mention the one that surprises me the most is Bournemouth. I've driven past the ground and seen it a number of times when flying out of Bournemouth and it appears almost non-league in size and you can see why the capacity is a lot less than half St Mary's. They'd miss not having TV money even more than we did.
  14. He did at least get involved today and made a nuisance of himself, which is not something I recall seeing from him before..
  15. Must have picked up a knock: thought he played well against Lazio.
  16. Just on here I suspect.. Nobody has many illusions but we do have a particularly depressive group here, even without Alpine..
  17. If you can't make the game you could always watch Leeds v Pompey.. Come on Leeds! Now I feel dirty..
  18. Cat videos are banned here. Let's have at least one place free of them!
  19. I couldn't be arsed to register to enlighten them about the composition of our team, and that I was watching 4 (?) players I'd never seen before.. But I came on here to comment about the Getafe game, as nobody else has! Will many be be going? I presume some of the first teamers will now make an appearance? Does anybody have any insight into Getafe without me having to make any effort? 🙂
  20. Article in The Guardian about which player each club should sign; here's Saints'.. Southampton: Aaron Ramsdale While Southampton have a couple of problem areas to address before the transfer window closes, the most pressing concern is between the sticks. With Gavin Bazunu sidelined until next year owing to an achilles issue, Saints go into the season with Alex McCarthy as first choice, but he struggles with the ball at his feet. With that in mind, Russell Martin may look for a new shot-stopper. They could do a lot worse than Aaron Ramsdale, who rarely let Arsenal down and was talented enough to earn five England caps. Having lost his spot to David Raya at Arsenal, Ramsdale may be on the move. He deserves regular game time and would be an astute signing.
  21. Unfortunately Lazio fans were the other side of the pitch as I had a bit of fun shouting things at them. Foreign language fluency always improves after a couple of pints! Dirty bastards.. As to us, Mara was trying more than in the last few games, it seemed. As Patches above said Mccarthy received some balls he really shouldn't but occasionally it's valid to put it long, although when we do there is nobody to compete and hold it up and illustrates why we want to pass it out. Manning worries me , Edwards looks promising with a bit of useful pace too. I thought Bree had a good game, surprisingly. Charles looks to have improved and playing with a bit more confidence. Dibling and SAA look like they could embarrass a few defenders and it will be fun seeing their development. It has already been noted that Alcaraz was up for it!
  22. I'm in a 'spoons which is also quiet and no security staff, unlike Saturday match days.. But it's a spoons so still been bothered by a loud socially crippled drunk (an Everton supporter, you'll be pleased to know). Think I've just seen a Lazio couple wander in, but suspect their Curva won't be filled tonight..
  23. I've just seen the Millwall highlights on the OS: he does have a certain abiility, doesn't he?! Plus a bit of deceptive pace too. Like you I remember those strikes against Newcastle U21, and what struck me then was the absence of significant backlift in his powerful shots. Here's hoping...
  24. I don't casually watch Premier League football as not having a tv I have to make an effort to watch the games, normally Saints of course, that I want to watch. But tonight in a random French chain hotel I watched one of last season's games between Arsenal and Chelsea. Some great players and ability on show but what also struck me was the number of errors and poor or over ambitious passing, plus long balls from keepers that came straight back. We'll struggle, no doubt, but maybe there is some hope after all?
  25. That's the sort of dogmatic post to mentally bookmark to bring up at a suitable time. Not so much to prove you wrong, or the humour but we all want bloomin' Everton to be relegated!
