  1. Organisationally for me tonight was a right shambles: forgotten about where I went for a bite to eat so by the time I got there my teammates had moved on from the pub and it didn't have Sky like I thought it did, so cycled back to another pub where they were showing Inter.. WTF? My request for the West Brom match saw an attempt to put it on, but somebody hadn't paid the Sky subs so it was impossible. Then saw another teammate in the pub and she had Now on her phone so I watched the second half on that! I've just had a look at the comments following the team sheet news and they were quite amusing. From what I saw of the second half though we were pretty much in control. Think I'm changing my opinion on Aribo; he really suited the situation, and there seemed to be more spine to the team and certainly better passing. Bazunu made that great save but some of his long range distrubution was lovely to watch. All in all I'm looking forward to Tuesday night much more now..
  2. Is he your apprentice?
  3. I only saw a bit of the match at the start before I made the correct decision to go off to training (!) but the passing seemed off, there seemed little rythym and no drive or pace. It occurred to me that they were trying to pace themselves with so many games with only two clear days off between them. Hopefully they've got it out of their system for Friday, but we seem to have plenty of attack minded players now but thin in defensive midfield, and this has been noted by most of us and no doubt our opponents. Could Aribo do a decent job there, he certainly has the strength?
  4. Drat, off to training in the wet and cold at 8. I believe the Friday game is also on Sky main channel? Down the pub for that if it is.
  5. The following was a BTL comment on The Guardian's match report: "There's humiliation and then there's bringing Cedric on with 15 minutes to go." 🙂
  6. Illustrating a practical application of simultaneous equations?
  7. In that respect it's good to see Sulemanna back!
  8. I'm just a bit worried if we ever get P****y in the cup! In better news, at least the trains seem to be running OK at the moment..
  9. Yes, I was impressed on Tuesday too. Dibling's previous game he wasn't quite there but you could still see the quality, Tuesday was a real step up. Meghoma's had a little more game time but again you can see improvement. It'll be interesting to see them against a better team than Watford.
  10. As opposed to a negative misery guts like you who is much more experienced at putting people down and "proving them wrong".. Obviously you yourself couldn't manage to ignore it.
  11. I hope they don't take this personally and realise it's just Wade being Wade! Having seen Saints away there in the past I have to say they have some excellent pubs. I did chuckle at the hare coursing bit, that _was_ a bit Northern.
  12. Lovely motorway drive home in the pissing rain but happy for all that. All the youngsters had good games. Dibling is already fun to watch and has already progressed in the 3? games he's played, Meghoma showed both strength and pace and got forward well, SAA had a good cameo and hit the post and Cameron Bragg came in for Smallbone and fitted in seamlessly. We could have scored more but the control in the second half was total. If there are any tickets available for Saturday's game snap 'em up!
  13. ***** me! This joke has been flogged more than than the Skacel one!
  14. Yep, I want to get the last train home! The schedule is a bit sparse, what with there being industrial action.
  15. Firstly, thanks to Bad Wolf for the stream link which worked pretty well. That was as routine a win as you will see, and it always felt as if Saints were playing well within themselves. With an FA cup reply on Tuesday and games coming twice a week for some time I've no issue with game management at the moment, although I'd like to see our GD improve. As Tessem said on the commentary, now we're second all we have to do is concentrate on our own game and if we do it well we won't be caught. I didn't immediately realise that we have a game in hand on Leeds although they are still the biggest worry, IMO. Che, KWP and Stu all looked a bit off their game, but it didn't matter. The latter definitely doesn't seem like a 90 minute player any more and thought he'd have come off earlier. Brooks looked tasty in just a few touches, and it will be interesting to see how long he gets on Tuesday. I have my ticket for that game: does anybody know how many we've sold?
  16. I know a musician in Piemonte who went to Argentina to collect old Piemontese traditional songs, such was the emigration from the later 1800s. It was mostly uneducated agricultural workers and their dialect is still maintained in certain parts of Argentina e.g: https://www.cuneodice.it/cultura/cuneo-e-valli/quei-piemontesi-emigrati-in-argentina-che-mantengono-viva-la-storia-del-piemonte_75972.html Edit: the article makes the point that many didn't speak Italian, only dialect.
  17. Blimey, I thought you were taking the piss!
  18. Yes, that's what I do too, whether heading for Central Station or St Denys/Bevois Valley. I can only recall once when home fans were not permitted to transit using that route and I had to use Belvidere Road and then back ways, which was a pain. Can't remember the game but one of the teams with a big following of unpleasant fans, possibly Chelsea.
  19. Factless Allen, no doubt. Can't remember who came up with that name but it so fits. Plus the writing style of a 14 year old, in the lower set for English.
  20. Ooh, CB, you'll upset the Owl's forum too..
  21. You buggers made me go and look, didn't you. Only 1 win in the last 5... I see what you mean.
  22. Hmm, he might be reluctant to sign for any club who might pass us going in the opposite direction, unless they can afford to give him a 2/3 year contract, without a relegation clause..
  23. I too went to the away game. Had a good time all round, thanks for the recommendation on here of Domo, decent pubs and a lift back to my accommodation from some Wednesday fans. We dominated there, and although they've improved so have we and added some directness through Fraser and generally moving the ball a bit quicker. I'd certainly be very disappointed if we didn't win.
  24. I'm surprised you take him so seriously; lots of people don't. Deluded, WUM, Alpine's apprentice in negativity? Either way I personally often disagree with his opinions but with three posts a day CBA to waste one and my time. In a game of small margins at that level I don't think Mara is that far off, although whether he can bridge the gap is another matter. Don't see why not though, particularly at only 21.
  25. I'm not sure whether it's the style of play or just the fact that we're winning, but the players seem more engaged too. Fraser is obviously enjoying his football and his additional directness really adds to the mix, and may give us a good chance of keeping him. It makes a change coming out of the ground happy! I joked to a neighbour at the cup match that yes, I had a season ticket and last season it cost me about 250 quid to see each win!
