I take it you really don't likw them? Must admit I dislike Askham intensely: he looks like a self-satisfied toad to me.

Hmm, the skysports written commentary at 40mins says 'Swansea just have the edge'... not "all over us"...??

Nice analysis Dubai: the only thing I have a problem with is adapting our style to his. Firstly he's no LeTiss (where I'd say yes!) and when he's away through injury/internationals we'd have no one to take his place. The pattern we are trying to develop is not based on individual players - just as well really as any decent ones are going to be shipped out as soon as they show promise..:-(

I'm with St Landrew; I think JP is an intelligent guy and appeals for real 'football people' as managers just underline some of the limitations in the English game. As an example having someone like Shearer as manager would be dreadful, although if something like that happened we'd probably have more success as it we be on the back of investment. I like the comment from JP on the OS openly telling us the reason SJ is going due to high wages. Rupert might be manipulating, but he's not silenced him entirely. And speaking of investment, did anyone notice that the offer for Charlton has been withdrawn? No issues with the deal itself, just the economics did not make sense for the Dubai group. That is something else no one seems to consider. I think we may be ahead of the game in reducing our costs as the debt in football generally is just not sustainable at the moment. With the rise in unemployment/prices an expensive ticket to watch a match is going to be one of the first things to be cut and liquidity in the investment groups is just not there, especially those backed by oil funds (seen the price of a barrel the last few days?). I think we should cut JP some slack, it's not all going to come right immediately but you can't deny the kids are getting more experience! The trick is not to ruin their confidence whilst they're getting there. So please no booing and get along to a game if you can. From the two games I saw on my visit earlier in the season there was certainly a lot more effort than last season and more decent football too. I'm over at Christmas so I'll be able to take in a couple more games - last year I saw two dire defeats at home so I thinkthings will be better this year .... please...

I wonder if there are still decent holdings by any investment/pension companies? I'm a small shareholder (1500 IIRC!) and the shares are worth more to me emotionally and as an entree' to the AGM than any monetary value. I'm on a very small income but unlike some here I put my money where my mouth is.. Apart from pension companies and small shareholders like me where are the shares held, and why aren't people profit-taking? I suppose it is quite an interesting question..

They have to be back from injury and fit first....

Bet his English spelling is better than yours though. To be honest, if I were a manager who saw his side miss two penalties with the result that the team constantly had to chase the game I'd be mightily ****ed off. He can't just go out and buy new players (or even play one of the ones we have - Skacel) - and I get the impression that he knows what we need. He explained why he didn't immediately make substitutions. If he listened to people on here he'd have a team with even less confidence. At least they are playing some decent football, even if we all know DmcG is not the scoring answer at the moment. Nor is SJ, judging by the little I saw of him earlier in the season - on a different wavelength, but not in a good way. It's good to know that there are a few injured players waiting to come in, although the predictable criticisms on here never take that into account. This is the first time I've logged in since Saturday, but a quick glance shows the usual vituperative blame-seeking, so I won't be visiting often.

Sod, I'm off to the Piazza and a glass or two of wine. Please at least let us get a goal or two.

Can't hear the commentary here in Italy - but it looks from Watford's 4 bookings already that they know they can just bully us out of the game. At least we got the penalties even if MLT isn't there anymore.... Anyway, will Watford now just shut up shop and stop fouling - or will they end with 10 men??

Funnily enough I just read that bit at the bottom of the Gasmi article and was about to post the same question. Gawd, you have to be sharp round here to be first to anything!:-)

Well, some appalling defending, particularly for their third - the defender was just strolling back and even at the level I play at you'd be expected to sprint back to cover. Why can't WE get to the byline, and we seem to over-elaborate at times and lack width. Surman, bless 'im, was just trying too hard to score from shots and free kicks. The only positive I can find is that we never stopped trying, and nobody hid. Even at the end people were calling for the ball and that's not always the case when a team is playing badly.

Lallana wasn't taken from behind ffs

who the F was that defender ambling back to cover, I'd be embarassed with that with my women's side...

'fraid it wasn't offside. Need to place a man right on that thrower as we can't seem to cope otherwise
