  1. If he had added something to the effect of Stewart not being fit enough for 90 minutes, or wanting him to play against a tiring defence it might have made a little more sense, but 5 of them?! Also why not score first and then bring on a defender, it's as if he's accepted that at some stage we will be chasing the game. All in all extremely odd and irrational.
  2. Well, after that shit show I had an extra pint whilst I chatted with the locals in a local village pub rather than leave immediately in a completely shitty football mood, so I've had more on a Monday night than for many years.. I don't feel the same way about Martin as I did about Branfoot or Jones but I really think he's lost the dressing room, as they say. He certainly hasn't got the raw ingredients to work with - how have Bournemouth bought their first goal scorer tonight for about twice our highest priced player - but I think a change is necessary as he certainly is not getting the best out of our players.. As an aside I thought Aribo brought some much needed strength in midfield, and Lallana was a useful addition but patently not fit enough as a starter.
  3. I'm in a pub in the PO area. Wish it wasn't so empty as my outbursts have been a bit noticeable..
  4. That's all Greek to me..
  5. Is he happy at that level or do you think he might go up a few levels? I can't recall his medical/injury situation and his employment, but it does seem a bit of a waste.
  6. As the newspaper I read said: [Wolves] "They pass the ball around at the back for 30 seconds or so, prompting Gary Neville to go on a rant about their lack of urgency." Sounds familiar..
  7. From reading the minute-by-minute in the newspaper looks like a lot of crap defending is going on in the Premier League. Saints have competition!
  8. The game has come up on my synchronised calendar as Tuesday 29th, KO 19.45 so I might risk the train and hope it doesn't go to penalties..
  9. How does it compare to Shirley's mutant mile?
  10. Good grief: Alpine Saint has been giving seminars..
  11. Nobody prepared to give their name to the byline: "Agency Staff".. Wonder if it was Factless Allen..
  12. Can you explain that post as I don't understand. Is it one you meant to send _last_ Tuesday?
  13. Lots of people have been parroting the idea. I tend to ignore the "why don't we" type questions on football forums, as they often naively assume any particular course of action is uncomplicated by things we don't know about and blandly ignore.
  14. Surely there must be more to it than just thinking he's a prat or has behaved badly? After all, they're still paying him and he's better than we've got; certainly better than JS! Is it something for which you or I in employment would have been sacked but as he has a contract it's more difficult (or expensive) to pursue? Will the question get asked at any press conferences? Bear in mind that any reply has to be circumspect due to the danger of potential libel, or not getting shot of him in the January window.:-)
  15. Whoops, Gazzanigga.. Playing alongside Romeu too.
  16. Lambert fitted that description too!
  17. I don't visit The Lounge very often but when I saw the OP and thread title I thought to myself, what is the sad old loony going on about this time? My expectations were not confounded. In the distant past I think I once called him Fire-and-Forget Missile but even that seems too high a level of intelligence.
  18. Although that fan analysis was reasonable I have hopes that with Fernandes and Lesley in midfield we'll have more drive there, along with maybe Dibling coming on earlier. Will Cornet and/or Fraser play as they too will add a bit of experience and directness? Something has got to change, obviously, the main thing perhaps is not giving the ball away in stupid positions although shooting and finishing from a few yards out would also help..
  19. The Bugle and a quaffing pint of Flowerpots (somethingorother) sat in the sun whilst waiting for a friend to finish work. Probably around £1.50 more than the same pint in the GD or SW!
  20. Not if they've any sense..
  21. Not just that but it's combined with deceptive speed and great balance. As for scouts being at games: of course there are, there are no real undiscovered gems in professional football, but there is obviously continuous assessment and re-assessment going on. The optimist in me hopes to see him at the weekend, and if he scores it won't be a great surprise to anybody..
  22. I popped into a 'Spoons once for a pre-match pint, think it was The Giddy Bridge, and they had Koenig from Antwerp, on draft. I'd had it over there but that was keg and it was so much better and more drinkable on draft. Can't remember the game though as I took the chance to have more than one.. The South Western and Guide Dog are both good bets and the prices are decent - I had a wince inducing priced pint in Hamble this lunchtime. As mentioned the former is popular with away fans and when a Hull City supporting friend told me, in jest, that she couldn't tell me where they'd all be drinking I told her!
  23. One issue is that most women footballers play on Sunday afternoons so they and friends and family can't watch the higher level stuff. When Saints played Portsmouth in the cup at Havant's ground last year I saw plenty of local players I know as they didn't have games that week. ISTR but not sure that one or two games might even have been postponed. Obviously the same applies to higher level men's Saturday football, but the far larger Sunday amateur game isn't impacted in the same way.
  24. It seems like it to us supporters!
