  1. I think we took for granted how important Lallana was last season. I know Lambert got player of the year deservedly for his goals but the amount Lallana chipped in with and assisted in made a huge impact. With Barnard back hopefully we'll be slightly improved but we will struggle until AL is back.
  2. One season wonder??? Did he not score any goals at Bristol Rovers???
  3. Agree with 3 out of 4, don't owe Nicola any type of an apology IMO.

    Plan B

She said I love you boy I love you so....
  5. At last, a good appointment IMO. Still don't believe what Nicola is saying about 'only manager he offered the job'. He plays attractive football though and proven at this level, good luck Nige!
  6. I would love to see Shearer come in. Working alongside Dowie would be perfect, they have worked together before, Dowie has worked with Reed and they both love the club. Similarly though I agree with the Four Four Two article previously posted. I see Southgate in a similar light to Shearer, a manager who had a lot of potential and under difficult circumstances got relegated from the Premier League. Managers like this should be given another chance otherwise a flock of 'good young English managers' will continue to come through and then put on the waste pile when they have one bad season.
  7. Who in their right mind is going to take him on loan???
  8. I've always rated him since he first arrived but there are BIG question marks over his fitness for a whole season. If he does stay fit however he is technically better than Waigo and posssibly Antonio, just doesn't have quite the same pace.
  9. Absolutely fantastic signing, well done for keeping this one quiet! Can't wait for the season now!
  10. Some people's expectations are a bit unrealistic IMO. Iwelumo would be a great signing, he is at a Prem club currently, has loads of experience and has goals in him at this level and the championship.
  11. I have a white sign with red writing reading, "No addmitance for reserve games". Its been nailed on my bedroom door ever since!
  12. Jones, Bale and Guthrie were by no means dross! I would love to have any of those three in the team now or when we get promoted, they would all walk into the side.
  13. Mills isn't solid enough at the back for me, better in front of Harding. If we sign Dickson it will be as cover for Harding, or to play left back if Harding covers right back.
  14. Charlton, Sheff Wed, Plymouth, Huddersfield and Swindon/Millwall will be our main contenders. Brighton, MK Dons and Bristol Rovers will push play offs but won't pose us much of a threat. The only real challenger for title will be losing play off finalist IMO.
  15. He looks decent, a great passer of the ball and a lot of possession goes through him which I like to see in a full back, unlike Otsemebor/James who look completely uncomfortable everytime the ball goes near them. Put in a few telling crosses as well and it looks as if he can tackle, would be a great addition.
  16. Would be great to see him back, could play in the mid with Deano and MS with Lallana and Punch off Lambert, or wide left if we decide to play 4-4-2. Probably rubbish though if its in the mail.
  17. What a top bloke! I remember Franny Benali doing a similar thing for one of my presentation nights as a kid. You don't get many people like that in football any more. Oh and Bristol City... no chance!
  18. I would love to have them both back! Although neither really has enough class to play 90 minutes every week their pace and ability to do the unexpected was fantastic to have from the bench this season.
  19. Good luck Chris, shame to see him go. Really think he could have done a good job as a player coach for another season. Hopefully get another few years elsewhere.
  20. I went to Uni at Bournemouth and watched a few games while I was there, but towards the end I was a bit put off by the 'scummer' chants. Ridiculous that they think we're their rivals when 99% of saints fans actually like to see Bournemouth do well! It's typical of a team that have no immediate rivals, they jump on the bandwagon of others.
  21. Superb statement NC, I just wish he would have come out and backed Pardew earlier so that everyone didn't start to worry. Really looking forward to next season now with Southampton establishing their own brand of football... the 'Southampton Style' COYR
  22. Seconded
  23. I wasn't impressed by his behaviour in the MK Dons game, but it did show passion, which we have lacked for many years! Would like to see him offered a reduced contract, if only for JPT/CB and RB cover next season, always good to have a player that can play in more than one position on the bench.
  24. I know lots of people don't like Corden but I think he is priceless. Even if you don't like him this show is well worth watching due to Freddie Flintoff's wit and the stunning Georgie Thompson. Also loads of jibes about Redknapp's injuries and awful Thomas Cook ads! I've watched every one and can't wait for MLT on Thurs!
