Very much hope Ings and JWP don't catch some of the boring disease that afflicts this England team. Southgate is so defensive and so distrusting of anyone who might actually be creative, like Grealish, and especially when his badly picked team goes down to 10 men, courtesy of one of those ludicrously out of form players. Pickford not much better. Real dross, and a very difficult watch. Hope Ings and JWP breathe a sigh of relief to be back in the fold, where actually trying to have a bit of zip is welcomed.

Have to say I would disagree with this. Deeney would give us some real presence up top for a low-risk outlay, and signing him would be better than Brighton or WBA signing him, that's for sure. He scores goals and is a real handful still, which is more than Obafemi is, and the goals bit kind of rules out Long. IMHO

Doubt Ings and JWP will get much game time here. If the former couldn't get there when he was the highest English scorer in the league, no reason to think he will now. Southgate will go with Calvert-Lewin as flavour of the month and Kane. JWP won't get in ahead of Henderson, Grealish, Rice or Mount/Winks even though that last pair are no great shakes. IMHO

Agree with this. Would have liked Brandon Williams but guess OGS was still smarting and thought it bad PR to let a defender go in the circumstances. KWP is the real find, along with getting rid of dead wood. Think Walcott is a bit of a distraction and hope the over-marketing of his ‘story’ stops soon, mainly for his sake. Else there will be an awful lot to live up to and not convinced he’ll meet the hype. Salisu also worries me. Hope all legit. We need that position to work. Diallo a good signing although raw. Overall a decent window, in the circs. Where does it place the takeover? Did these go through on basis of new owners or to secure the club in the Premier to protect the purchase?
