I always liked Bart, after the injury in that Newcastle cup game, he needed to be loaned out as part of his recovery, his lack of games showed in the Blackpool game, I think he can still be a top keeper
-
All I will add to this thread is I've been watching saints since 1967, the most enjoyable times have been outside of the top league, bar the early eightys when we actually challanged for the tittle, which I can't ever see us doing again, so for me, I'll go regardless, but relegation wouldn't bother me
-
I'm so with this idea no matter how we do Saturday, but if we go a couple of goals down we all know the atmosphere is going to turn bad
-
4 wins out of our next 8 games which is not unrealistic would give us 12 points from 12 games, which is on target for staying up, it's far to early to panic
-
Anything at arsenal is a bonus, the villa game worries me, they have also had a bad start and will be desperate and expecting to win at st Mary's, the pressure will be on that game and I'm honestly not sure we will cope with it, Then we are away to everton, we could well be in a position of no points after 6 games, god I hope I'm wrong

Still really bad, still impossible to get a half time drink without missing some of the game, why can't the club just fence off the outer site, then open the exits to home fans, charge mobile catering units to come on site, everyone could have a drink, the smokers could smoke, the club would make more money, every one would be happy

Newcastle (H) To Be Moved Due To Europa League
sotonian replied to View From The Top's topic in The Saints
I really can't see why clubs don't take the Europa league serious or even the league cup for that matter, apart from about 4 prem teams, the rest are unlikely to win anything else -
With flo, the deal was done and agreed, but we couldn't get granted a work permit from the home office, a few months later Chelsea got him and the work permit was granted for them
-
Calm down, it's only an opinion, At this time of year it's impossible to predict every position, I'm sure venables knows that, after predicting the top six it's a bit of a lottery, why not saints 20th? so far we have played one game and lost it.
-
But the song clearly states he can play on the right, so that gives us another option

What would be an acceptable score on Monday
sotonian replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
I really don't think it matters what the result is Sunday, as long as we learn and come back and beat Wigan, our first aim is just getting 38 points, just one point a game average, I'm confident we will have at least 7 points (probably more) after our first seven games -
Whilst I think it wrong, I'd be actually shocked if NA is still our manager at Xmas
-
Im glad they did, first I'd heard of it, got to start feeling a bit sorry for them, forget the rivalry, I'm sure we all know Pompey fans that are decent people, shame there club has let them down
-
The next couple of years are all about getting more points than 3 other teams, which I am sure we can do, doesn't really excite me though, only renewed season ticket on the last day, hopefully it will be better than I'm imagining
-
Love this thread, the one I would add is frank worthington, not here long, but what a great player for us
-
I thought, when this was discussed before, the cost of the expansion would take about 10 years in increased ticket sales and that was if all tickets were sold, as that is very unlikely to happen other than about 4 times per season, i really don't think it's financially viable, you could say reduce the ticket prices to sell more tickets, but then it would take even longer

I rate Guly, i think you need an understanding of football to realise why nigel plays him every game, he adds link up play to our game, which was strongly missing when he went off, he is a class player, unfortunately he does look lazy, but if you watch a game back he actually works very hard, it cant be easy when he gets groaned at when he makes any mistake, for some reason other players seem to be allowed mistakes, having said all that i think we should look to replace him, he will never be accepted by the majority of saints fans cause he is not the headless chicken type that most saints fans seem to love, dont know why some fans always have to have a hate figure, but i guess some of our fans seem to think, constant groaning and criticism helps motivate a player
-
no panic, 2 wins & 2 draws will see us promoted, the winner of the saints reading game will win the league
-
They are all fairly awfull but typical saints fans, let's blame the black bloke !!!!
-
that's so true, most of us had our own standing spot in the dell, with virtually the same people around you every game, i remember a group of old boys every game would stand leaning on a crush barrier in the centre of the archers, no matter who saints played, they were there, often surrounded by away fans, but they were not going to be moved
-
why does it bother you so much, why are you embarrassed, in what way does it effect your life ? in fact i would encourage more to do it, makes it easier for the rest of us getting out at the end of game
-
July 14th, isn't that the date the Olympic torch comes round Southampton?
-
i stand in the northam, i really cant understand why the people around me were getting so upset about fans leaving early, it didn't effect them in any way, if anything it actually helps the rest of us get out quicker at the end of the game
-
We are as good as up, 3 wins and 2 draws will be enough and we will exceed that easily in our remaining games
