So Beckham wants to buy a British Football Club?
saint_ed replied to SaintRobbie's topic in The Saints
Yeah...anyone got his mobile number? *rollyeyething* -
Fryatt was in the six yard box when he missed, Surman was only just inside the penalty box. I agree that we will miss him hugely though.
-
If our fate is dependent on that game I'm going f'sure.
-
Certainly not a right midfielder. I would much rather we had taken McGoldrick off at half time last night and moved Schneiderlin inside.
-
It was nowhere near as bad as that. McGoldrick smashed the ball towards Surman so although a player of his ability should have probably hit the target, those claiming dead grandparents could have scored are talking well and truly out of their arse.
-
Solid yet unspectacular Championship standard central midfielder.
-
While that is the best position for Lallana, the trouble is he jumps out of tackles and rarely goes for any aerial balls. If Lallana is going to play in that role, I would be more inclined to bring someone like Wotton in behind him, perhaps in place of Schneiderlin in order to help Gillett out a bit. It would also give Lallana a free role to roam which is arguably when he produces his best football.
-
I saw Wayne Thomas on Saturday, and he can still barely walk. There is no way he will be playing again this season IMO.
-
Mine and I'm sure everyones absolute priority is that the club stays in this division. I am reluctant to do anything that may destabilize the current situation in any way. I feel that the best ways to protest are by not renewing our season tickets and hold off until our fate is sealed whether that be survival or relegation.
-
The key point is having experience in key positions. The spine of the team is where we have our most experienced players and that is of paramount importance in any team.
-
Also, to win a game by more than 2 goals is seen as a direct insult to the opposition

BIRMINGHAM AWAY - LOSE DERBY HOME - WIN QPR HOME - DRAW BLACKPOOL AWAY - WIN CHARLTON HOME - WIN WATFORD AWAY - LOSE WOLVES AWAY - LOSE CRYSTAL PALACE HOME - DRAW SHEFF WED AWAY - LOSE BURNLEY HOME - DRAW NOTTM FOREST AWAY - WIN My prediction is 15 more points taking us to 52 points. It's going to be close thats f'sure.

Absolutely agree.

Thanks for that .comsaint.

I'm not sure I agree with the part about we have the quality in our squad to reach the playoffs. 3 wins does not automatically mean we would have been capable of playoffs. We are winning because the squad know we HAVE to. We have also added the likes of J-PS later on in the season. I do however agree that Lowe has yet again made glaring errors of judgement which have severely threatened the short and long term future of our club (yet again influencing team affairs) and in ANY other PLC he would have been sacked a long time ago.
-
And Schneiderlin is a central midfielder. What do you say to those suggesting that then? Smith has played right wing plenty of times in his career. Had McLaggon been fit then he would have been the obvious choice, but seeing as he isn't, we aren't left with too many options apart from Smith.
-
James is only just now proving himself as being adequate, and thats over a WHOLE season. Smith has had a handful of games. Give him a chance before totally writing him off. He did well against Man Utd in the cup and went on a fantastic run, before admittedly messing up the shot. But a 'sh1te' player would not have been able to ghost past one of the top defenses in Europe. We have very little pace in our side, so there is always room in the match day squad for a player like Smith.
-
Perry's handball was a stonewall penalty....as was Kennedy's.
-
What you don't see from that replay is that his body was going in totally the other direction and he quickly had to readjust his position and then get his hand hand....at which point the ball was behind him. Easily the best save I have ever witnessed.
-
Well apparently so was Euell, Gillett, Davis, McGoldrick, James among others Smith is hungry to prove himself, and adds much needed pace. I think he deserves another chance, in the event of Lallana being injured just like those mentioned above have, or are beginning to prove themselves after numerous chances.
-
I agree, I would like to see Smith given a chance again.
-
Yeah, that is definitely the Chapel end because those kids were sat at the front.
-
Lallana definitely won't be available on Tuesday so I would expect that to be the only change.
-
Perfect summary. I was also sat directly behind it and it was easily the best save I have ever witnessed.

Cardiff fan dead/on life support machine...
saint_ed replied to StuRomseySaint's topic in The Saints
The police had rounded up around 25 Cardiff fans by the market near St Mary's flats. There were about 6 police vans and plenty of police on foot so clearly something had kicked off on a pretty big scale. I'm sure there was plenty of trouble thought knowing what the Cardiff fans are like. However it is horrible to hear about any incidents like this so I hope he makes a full recovery.
