  2. Watford looking useful. Will be a tough game when we play them - hopefully safe by then. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  3. Though it worth copying this from the Grauniad. Great to read positive things about Saints once more. Southampton have been transformed by Ralph Hassenhüttl. A team who were drifting towards relegation and were often easy to play against have become fearsome opponents and exciting to watch. Joy has returned to St Mary’s. Nathan Redmond has been one of the main beneficiaries from the change. Though he had not scored for seven matches before his brace in*this*win against Wolves, he has been in excellent form. “For me it is unbelievable that he was very much criticised last season in this stadium,” said Hassenhüttl. “He likes this kind of pressing football because he can attack and run a lot. That’s the best thing for him as he sees that if he works hard and he is doing it for the team, then the supporters will immediately support you in a completely different way. It’s a very positive thing for him and helps us a lot.”* Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

  5. Much as I appreciate your sentiment, I'd rather they lost, and again v Liverpool. Then a point for us on Saturday puts us virtually mathematically safe. The thought of enjoying the last four games trumps anyone else's discomfort. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  6. Thank goodness nothing can ever be perfect, or saint lard would have no subject matter for whinging critical posts. Nigel Adkins wasn't a perfect manager - who is? But he didn't "massively underachieve" in not winning leagues. We twice finished one place short of perfection but achieved the primary aim of promotion to the PL. That's 9.5/10. Yes, he had great resources but he used them really well. Excellent psychologist and man-manager. Yes, he's struggled subsequently, mainly due to the lack of resources at his new clubs. Hasenhüttl hasn't adapted to Saints: if he had, he would have settled into mediocrity and the failed methods of the previous two managers. He has forced the club and players to adapt and accept him. With superb success. The only disappointing performance under Ralph was Cardiff, before he had a chance to do anything. I can't recall questionable decisions - experimentation yes, but he quickly worked out which players and formations worked. And there have been no abject, or even poor performances. Watching Saints has become exciting once more. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  7. We really didn't keep passing sideways for possession yesterday. If anything, we were almost too adventurous with the attempted forward ball. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  8. I think it seems from the frustration of a few seasons where the first option always seemed to be back, followed by sideways with little inclination to try the incisive forward ball. The huge difference now is we're always looking for the quick killer pass, but I agree it's important to recognise that there are times in the match when you cut down the risks. At 1-0 yesterday I thought we gave the ball away quite a few times. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

  10. Yes. Pretty sure there's a requirement that no domestic games can be shown on a CL night. They don't even like games being played then. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  11. Getting some difficult choices now, in a good way. I'd say Vestergaard, Romeu, JWP, Armstrong, Sims and Long are competing for places alongside a core of Gunn Valery (if not fit, Stephens) Maya, Bednarek, Bertrand Hojbjerg Redmond Ings depending on formation. The exciting part of having a real manager with flexibility and intelligence is that all of the above can play a part either starting or as subs with the set-up changing as the game unfolds. I have a hunch Sims will give way to Romeu in the starting eleven, otherwise unchanged. I feel for Armstrong as he's been impressive but is really getting squeezed out. 12. The head to arm one was very similar to the one we conceded against Stephens, although his arm was higher. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  13. I'd agree JWP wasn't having his best game. But it cheers me to think we're now finding it difficult to leave players out rather than find players to put in. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  14. Probably yes. And that will put Brighton in total panic mode. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  15. Leicester reminded me of Saints for the last couple of seasons. No intensity at all until the last few minutes. Lots of slow possession, no penetration. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  16. Leicester lots of possession without any threat. Newcastle very sharp on the break Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  17. Most of the team picks itself. Pretty sure Ings will start. As I see it, it's two from Vestergaard, Romeu and Armstrong, depending on formation. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  18. 1-3 game over Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  19. 1-2 Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  20. Sorry, duplicate thread. Please close. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  21. Bad injury to Tella and the red card was ridiculous. Not sure it was even a foul, but 1-1. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  22. 1-1 but Saints down to 10 men. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  23. Looks like a bad injury - possibly ACL to Saints #7 Tella? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  24. Losing 0-1 after ten minutes. Unlucky deflection led to the goal. Streaming on FB and Twitter. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  25. Got to admit the new WHL looks very impressive. We need to stay up so I can go next season [emoji3] Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
