Because the players warming up in a funny coloured shirt really puts a stop to that.
-
If you actually read that article, Toney stopped doing it because he thought it was losing its effect and they were like puppets for the people up top whilst no real change is happening. It’s not like he was scared of the Marxists or against BLM or anything. He sounds pretty Woke to me. Maybe they feel that now in the Prem a united approach is best placed to help make change?
-
Ivan Toney is not going to take the knee this season apparently, it’s up to him what he does. Not sure where that fits in with the ‘obligation’?
-
Some players obviously really want to do it, the others probably don’t give a shite and just do it anyway out of respect for their teammates, it’s really not a hard concept to grasp, for most of us.
-
I expect they didn’t give a shite either way and just went with what the majority of their team decided. Fact is many players don’t take the knee and no one cares.
-
If you write a question that actually makes sense I might answer it.
-
Exactly, it's just a matter of time before they all follow.
-
Yeah, doubt it... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-58146039

I expect there are plenty who don't really care about racism and just go along with it because it's just a harmless gesture, most probably don't like the abuse their friends and colleagues get so are happy to join in. Plenty of English players didn't take the knee last year, no-one gave a shite.
-
Brilliant! So the players are being forced to do it against their will. The same players that pretty much hold all the power and can force through multi-million pound transfers if they fancy a few more quid at another club. Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better when you boo the lads for making harmless anti-racism gesture.
-
And there’s you, the guy so desperate to prove he isn’t racist, he has to constantly tell us about his black friend. I’m surprised you havn’t told us you own a Snoop Dog album and “like a good curry as much as the next guy”.
-
Relegated with Palace and Brentford.
-
You’re the one all over the place. Wanting to promote the anti-racism message in other countries is hardly the same as EXPECTING to eradicate racism from the whole planet. Thick. As. Mince.
-
Obviously that’s the objective, I seriously doubt they expect to eradicate racism around the World.
-
Of course it won’t solve racism, no one has ever claimed it would, it’s only fuck-wits like you and Turkey who bang on about it not solving anything.
-
I said “they should be respected for trying to do something about it, however pointless, not booed.” I never said it was pointless, just that even if it is they should still be respected for trying to do something. You and Turkey make a great pair.
-
I said it might make a difference, you clearly struggle with reading.
-
You genuinely asked me if people knew racism existed before they took the knee. No you’re not dim at all.
-
I agreed it won’t solve anything, but it might make a bit of a difference, it’s impossible to know for sure. As for Turkey boys point, as usual he is talking complete shite (he’s not the sharpest tool in the box bless him) - you can highlight something that is already known, it is getting the issue discussed which is better than just ignoring it.
-
Not at all. It won’t solve anything but might make a bit of difference, it’s impossible to tell. It definitely puts the issue more in the spotlight, the only reason racism is being discussed so much here is because they are doing it. No one is expecting it to change the views of old gammons like you though.
-
Not at all, It’s quite simple. The players obviously think it’s a problem for them so should be applauded for trying to do something, not booed.
-
It highlights the issue which is a good thing but obviously won’t solve anything, I don’t think anyone is expecting it to.
-
Because wether it is ‘rife’ or not in our country is irrelevant. Clearly many black footballers and their colleagues see it as a problem and they should be respected for trying to do something about it, however pointless, not booed.
-
You are talking shite as usual. I don’t think taking the knee will solve anything and I don’t think racism is ‘rife’ in this country. I just think people who boo taking the knee are bellends.
