  1. There has to be rules, otherwise nothing would change. The police have to enforce the rules otherwise they will just be ignored. It's not rocket science. From a selfish point of view, I could safely pop to a beach near me and spend the day sunbathing in a secluded spot with next to no risk of spreading anything. But if the police let me do it they would have to let everyone else and you end up with thousands of people out and about as usual. The police have no option but to make examples of people and they were 100% right to fine these selfish idiots.
  2. If everyone went on a tour of the UK the roads, service stations, convenience stores etc would be the same as the average bank holiday - it's the last thing we need.
  3. Thought it was a democratic hoax?
  4. I dunno, religion has played a part in wars for centuries, from the Spanish Inquisition through to ISIS today. Like Geopolitics it creates division.
  5. I think most atheists among us has showed more tolerance than anyone to be honest. From a young age pretty much all of us have had religious beliefs forced upon us, forced to sing hymns at school, forced to do numerous religious based activities, there are still parts of our life being influenced by a load of ****ed up fairy tales from centuries ago - atheists have every right to have a bit of a chip their shoulder but still most don't. I'm more agnostic than anything, I used to be anti-religion because of all the wars and misery it has caused but I do understand the good to does so am not really bothered either way.
  6. Surely if a country is on a "war footing" then traditional supplier frameworks shouldn't really get in the way?
  7. But surely it’s fair if the government claw back the money by taxing high-earners afterwards, then all companies get treated the same?
  8. Beattie?
  9. Religion is obviously a load of b*ll*x but if people want to make life choices based around centuries old works of fiction that’s fine by me. Churches do a lot of good, I think a fair amount of people, especially the elderly go purely because it’s free, gets them out the house and makes them feel part of something.
  10. I really don’t get the issue with furloughing, thousands of profit making companies up and down the country are doing it, many will have high earners, all will have to pay for it through tax later on.
  11. If it doesn’t change behaviour I don’t see the point.
  12. Except if they ever did what you say the only way it would make any difference is if they made the info public, in which case people would just leave their phones at home, making the whole exercise pointless.
  13. The Israel thing was just part of the baggage Corbyn carried around which made him so inappropriate for party leadership. Fact is if you campaign for Palestinian rights you make so many enemies within the Jewish community you will always have anti-semitism allegations thrown at you. At least now the party will have seen the back of that particular problem.
  14. People have to work, they don’t have to go sunbathing - that’s the difference. All workplaces should be following guidelines to minimise the risk as well.
  15. Interesting comparison, the government obviously screwed up in delaying the shutdown. We can all see now how critical time is in a pandemic. I expect London distorts the stats somewhat though.
  16. Boris’ ‘sing happy birthday’ phase does seem idiotic now. Looks like they were caught with their pants down and were just buying some time whilst they put together something that resembles a plan. The PPE and testing situation is a disgrace. I always though rule 1 in a pandemic is protect your health workers.
  17. https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/03/the-chinese-wild-animal-industry-and-wet-markets-must-go/ "After the SARS outbreak in 2003, which was traced to a wet market in the southern Guangdong Province, a temporary ban on wet markets and the wild-animal industry were put in place. In July of that year, the World Health Organization declared the SARS virus contained, and in August the Chinese government lifted the ban. Wet markets are found the world over, typically open-air sites selling fresh meat, seafood, and produce. The meats often are butchered and trimmed on-site. Markets in China have come in for justifiable condemnation because of the way they’ve evolved, commingling traditional livestock with a wide variety of wild animals, including exotic and endangered species. Many are quite unsanitary, with blood, entrails, excrement, and other waste creating the conditions for disease that migrates from animals to people through virus, bacteria, and other forms of transmission. Such “zoonotic diseases” that have emerged from China and other regions of the world include Ebola, HIV, bird flu, swine flu, and SARS."
  18. This. A carbon tax is the way forward, both to benefit local manufacturing and combat climate change. As for China, they need to stop eating dodgy **** and close down every single wet market they have. Didn't bird flu and SARS also both originate from these disgusting places?
  19. It will be interesting to see how many of those who stand outside their house clapping will be willing to pay a bit more tax to actually help the NHS and those essential low paid workers. Chances are they will still scream "Venezaula" again at the thought of not being able to get the latest Range Rover Evoque.
  20. You are either a bit dumb or just being deliberately obtuse. 1. Some people will be vulnerable to this disease and not know it. 2. Some people will be isolating but will have no choice but to go out for supplies. 3. There will be many people who are not high risk but care for or are in contact with vulnerable people. I had to go and get some shopping for my 75 year old mother yesterday and most people in Tescos were sensibly following the social distancing rules yet there were enough selfish, ignorant assholes like you ignoring it to make the whole exercise pointless. I’m extra careful around her but if I get it then there’s always a risk of transfer if I have to go in and help her with something.
  21. You are obviously thick as **** if you don’t understand how the more it spreads the more vulnerable people are put at risk.
  22. You can tell you’re a Tory, classic ‘I’m alright Jack attitude’. Not a moments thought for the poor sod with underlying health conditions you might spread it onto.
  23. Doesn’t make your point any less retarded.
  24. Ignoring all your other drivel, you can’t even get your timing right. If I caught the virus last week then I would only just be starting to show symptoms which means I would probably be 7 or so days from when I will need ICU treatment. Great plan, my life might rest on the chances of there being a spare ventilator in Southampton General next Wednesday. Think I will just wash my hands thanks.
  25. How is it odd that you would want to catch a virus that could kill you and potentially infect those close to you?! **** me, you’ve spouted some nonsense on here before but that is something special. ****ing weirdo.
