  1. I said he got what he deserved, not that I agreed with how he got it.
  2. I dunno, Peterborough is one of the most pro Brexit constituencies and they voted Labour in June. I expect the two main parties will get a bit of a kicking and can’t see either getting close to a majority. If anything, with the Lib Dem’s, SNP and Brexit parties doing well Parliament will be even more of a mess. A second refurendum is the screaming obvious way forward. Get the deal through the house on the condition of a public vote and nothing will be holding it up.
  3. I don't think they will extend unless it guarantees some sort of decision on Brexit. Chances are a GE will just result in a hung parliament which will solve nothing, if anything it could make the situation even more muddled if the main two parties do as bad as expected.
  4. I think the best outcome is for the deal to get approved subject to an approval referendum. That takes no deal off the table, takes parliament and party politics out of the equation, and means this option has been chosen because it is the best way forward not just because there is a threat of a no deal.
  5. It's amazing how many people still don't get this.
  6. You just get Parliament to approve the deal on the condition of a legally binding confirmatory vote, then it wouldn't have to go through the house again.
  7. Chances are that will just end up with another hung parliament and wont achieve a thing, needs to be a second vote - that has been obvious for a while.
  8. I expect Boris will get a deal, it will be pretty much identical to May’s but he will announce it as the best deal ever knowing full well it won’t get through Parliament. Then he can carry on this ‘people v Parliament’ bullish!t through to the inevitable election. This whole circus is just all about saving the Tory party.
  9. Got what he deserved.
  10. Their targets are impossible and their fears exaggerated but that’s probably the best way to get their point across about the urgency needed. It’s a direct response to the bullish!t fed to us by the government about how they are serious about climate change. The fact that we are on here discussing it shows it is working, the more people that actually look into the science, discuss and think about the issue the better.
  11. You sound confused, if you don’t believe the science why exactly do you want things to change?
  12. If you look on their website you can see it is clearly about the environment.
  13. I don't think gradual change is any where near enough, that is what we have now (new runway anyone?) - and I think the science backs that up. Extinction rebellion's targets are fanciful/impossible but they are bound to be, just to get the point across to fellas like oldnick who still don't understand the science.
  14. I don't care what they are saying, I just think anything that puts the problem on the agenda is a good thing. Governments are not disputing the science but they just play lip service instead of actually doing what is required, all they care about is appearing to be doing something to appease the electorate. Problem is it works, at election time they just need to be photographed planting a tree and riding their bike, mumble something about green technology and the issue just goes away. That is why we are where we are.
  15. If you are put off taking measures to protect the future of the planet because of a few protesters in London then there really is no help. We all know it's going to take decades to become carbon neutral, if it is possible at all, and the protesters know that. All they are doing is trying to move things along a bit quicker because at the moment our governments accept the science but seem incapable of taking the tough action necessary.
  16. You're playing the man not the ball, I doubt many people agree with the political views of the protesters. But our governments have been painfully slow in responding the climate problem and sensible conversations have not worked. What these guys are doing is a pain in the arse for many in London but if it puts climate back on the agenda it has to be a good thing IMO.
  17. No it's about setting an example and being world leaders in a technology that is obviously the way forward. The movement towards a greener lifestyle is inevitable.
  18. If every country thought like that nothing would ever get done. We should strive to do what's best for the climate regardless of what other countries do.
  19. If it’s revised then it’s not the same so it might stand a chance. No way they could push the same deal through. I think the only way anything will get through now is with a condition of a confirmatory vote, too many remainers in the house can smell blood.
  20. But the people in Parliament have not changed and neither have the details of the deal. If it was a bad deal for the country then it still is now. An MPs job is to do what they think is best for their constituents and the country, no way will they vote through a deal which they have already said on record is going to be bad for the country.
  21. Not sure what the point in dragging that deal up would be, apart from the comedy value of having Boris and his ERG chums block Brexit, again. Parliament pretty much agreed it was "the worst deal in history", no MP is going to openly say that then force it on their people. The only way that would get through if it was with a confirmatory vote clause.
  22. They are right to highlight the urgency of taking action. The science has been accepted by governments around the world but change is just not happening quick enough. Fact is, making tough, unpopular decisions for our long term good is something our democracies are not very good at.
  23. The owner is part of the problem, we certainly were fed a load of bullish!t from Kat. The other part is the fact that Les Reed made such a mess of player recruitment. Being stuck with overpaid rubbish players is a killer for clubs our size unless you’ve got an owner willing to finance a large turnaround of players. Looks like they just want to do the minimum to survive while the sh!te see out their contracts.
  24. Our problem is that we are stuck with too many sh!te players and have a skint owner who doesnt invest.
  25. I'm just trying to help. You're the one who said they didn't understand how the medieval warming period could have happened - I just assumed you were forming your opinions from a position of ignorance.
