  1. Huddersfield to win and Leeds second. Gunn hasn't done anything to suggest he can manage, Norwich were rubbish under him last year.

Any sympathy I have for them disapears the moment I remember the brick throwing, police dog kicking scum that greeted me when I got of the train the last time I went down there. if ever a club deserved to go bust it was pompey, they brought the FA Cup on a credit card, it's only right and fair that they pay for it now.
  3. That was after he stumped up the cash, the Swiss were free to buy the club before the exclusivity but chose not to. Maybe the Pinnacle mess lowered the price?
  4. There was nothing stopping the Swiss buying the club when Crouch stepped in.

It's on Coral: http://www.coral.co.uk/sbuk.go?page=grouppage&groupid=700009&lang=20&sid=20&ms=&type=0 Looks like bet365 have better odds though.

you can get 12-1 on the skates to finish bottom - has to be worth a few quid. At the moment unless some signings are made I would make them favorites, a classic club in crisis. There is a lot of poor sides in the Prem this year and their squad is not as bad as Burnley's but they have a nobody manager and you can guarantee the few decent players they have will be wanting out
  7. We're obviously way behind all the other clubs but that's no need for Pardew to panic buy, I expect there will be a couple of deadline day signings followed by a load of loans. We have to face facts, we've had no summer to prepare and there is little chance of promotion even with a good team thanks to the -10 so panic buying doesn't make sense.
  8. I think all those straplines are pointless, waste of money. If the team are playing well you could write "you are a c**t" on everything and the fans would still turn up.
  9. A huge loss to football, Bobby was a great manager but also a really nice bloke. RIP.
  10. Great, a bunch of fat homosexuals are gonna be tearing up our Champions League turf.
  11. I'm guessing that if he thought he urgently needed a right hand man he would hire one, if he didn't he wouldn't.
  12. I think it's good that Pardew is taking his time in assessing the squad and working out which players we need. You would have thought Saints fans would have learned the value in that by now after watching Burley **** millions up against a tree doing dumb things like pay millions for Skacel when the bet young midfielder at the club plays left midfield. Or spunk money on Euell and start the season without a proper centre back. Promotion this season is not likely even with a good team thanks to the -10, there is every reason to take a carefull, long term approach.
  13. You are completely wrong, results are all that matter. All this "not giving a damn" stuff is just ****** fans say when their team lose.

The problem pompey are going to have is that players like James, Kranjcar and Distin would have signed with the intention of playing European football under Redknapp, not for a relegation scrap with some unknown as manager. They will be more concerned with getting their agent to sort out a decent move than keeping the skates up.

Just to be selective again, couple of years earlier even less people turned out at your shed, 1995: 8,269. Will be interesting to see how our attendances this season compare, considering we will be playing in a league below.

1997, 7th place finish in the Championship - average attendance: 8,854 LOL. how's that for a fact? If you get relegated this season you can expect to be back to normal in your crappy little stadium.
  17. I bet he doesn't make Cappello's first team if he has a full squad to pick from, just like he was a bench warmer at Liverpool.
  18. Scoring goals against part timers doesn't mean you are a top striker.
  19. Most of his goals were against poor opposition

To be fair, if ever a club deserved to go out of business, it would be portsmouth. They basically brought the FA Cup on a credit card. If they go bust then it won't just be Southampton fans laughing their nuts off.
  21. I don't rate Crouch as a top striker, he's good to have as a sub but lacks any pace or mobility. I actually prefer England when they play Heskey up front.
  22. Of course there are no guarantees, we could be in League 1 in 5 years time if we dont get the right manager. But, as much as I hate the way football is nowadays, it was a simple case of get a rich owner or spend the next 20-30 years at best yo-yoing between League 1 and the Championship, now there is actually a possiblity of being a Prem club in a few years time. As much ad the 70's and 80's were good, we still only had modest success, I want to be the next Chelsea.
  23. That is a good thing IMO, way more chance of success now.
  24. The Saints Trust is dead, any credibility Illingsworth had was shot through as the Trust stood by and did/said nothing as Lowe came back and almost killed the club for good. There should still be a voice for the fans though, a supporters group where Season Ticket holders are automatically members and where all members are regularly consulted about their opinions.

That ties in with that guy's blog (a few posts up). Basically the club hasn't been sold and the fit and proper test hasn't been fully completed but was just rushed through because the club have to pay back millions - hence the carefully worded statement from the FA. Something definitely doesn't add up, why buy a club just to put a loser like Hart in charge and sell the best players?
