There was a very good Saints Speedway team! They won the League Championship during their last season in 1963. I used to watch them and also Southampton Vikings Ice Hockey team. Get my Speedway fix on TV, the Isle of Wight and by going to the British GP at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff every year.

I wish that there was a Southampton Speedway for him to report on......

Sounds like a typical remark made after every Saints signing...

Presumably they haven't spent oodles on loads of sooper-dooper players and we are not qualifying for Europe or pushing for a Top Six spot and haven't won a cup under them.....

My memory might be failing me (always possible) but I seem to remember having a black keeper on loan back in the 80's?

Ron Davies... £50,000 from Norwich if I remember correctly. Also (I haven't checked Mr Google) top scorer in the First Division two seasons running I think. Great, great days. Team full of real characters.....

The Transfer Window isn't even open for another week or so and already this is the most depressing place to be......so many negative moaners. I am not expecting miracles, but I am hopeful (based on nothing at all) that things will be better this year than last.

I thought that before his injury, Salisu was immense but since coming back he seems off the pace with his decision making. I think that given time he will be outstanding. As for Bednarek, he certainly isn't anywhere near as bad as some on here make out. I think that he is decent, but average CB.

Me too. Started watching Saints as a young shaver, standing on a biscuit tin so that I could see over the wall at the Milton Road end where the players came out. Got my first ST in 1974 and had one ever since. My daughter, who was born four days after the FA Cup win in 76 (what week that was!!) started coming with me when she was 15 and shortly after bought her own ST next to mine and we have been going to matches together ever since. Sort of fell out of love with football over the years but still matchdays with the Saints. It's a way of life. As you say...where would I find another team now?

I have been watching Saints since the late 1950's and have seen it all....however....the last half of the season has been one of the worse I have witnessed....
