The thing is, Scooby can't lose. If we lose its because of the disloyal fans not turning up etc, if we win it is a sign of the 'Golden Duo' fulfilling their greatness.

How often are you going to play the 'I'm allowed more posts than you' card? It doesnt prove anything. I agree with what SOG said.

Who's coming on Tuesday to watch Saints trounce Norwich?
mitch01 replied to eelpie's topic in The Saints
Was planning to go but have been roped into working 7-Close that evening. I have promised the illogical self-hating part of my brain that actually wants to go to St Marys to watch football matches that I will take it next time. -
A 2-0 win against Doncaster and we start thinking about the playoffs. Ha ha, it will all swing again if we lose to Norwich and Scooby will neglect to post after that one. Good result though, heres to hoping we can really stay up! But Palace won't be there for long, so thats another team we can discount finishing above. Might actaully treat myself and go on Tuesday night now...

very strange, theyve copied it on the OS!

"Oh when the Saints go marching in..." (at Fratton Poo 'ole)

I reckon we could beat Brighton, therefore we are better than Pompey! And City! We will walk this league... -
So one of our best academy players is being LOANED out. To another championship club. When Holmes is injured. Genius.
-
One too many bad seasons. We havent had a good year in the last 5/6.
-
With the youth policy we HAVE to stick with Jan. No other manager would be as prepared to work with these players. We must stick it out, even though it may well end with relegation, because it is the only real option. One step back followed by, hopefully, two forwards.
-
We don't stand much chance under Jan, but surely someone else coming in to try to achieve something with these youngsters is even less likely? I would much prefer to see Jan give it a go.
-
I love being in this league sometimes, but given the chance of course the Premiership is a better place to be. Would I rather watch this group of lads or Darren Powell, Jason Euell, Adam Hammill etc? Yes, whatever the consequences. We have decided to rely on youth, we were always going to have a tough season, but the situation is not hopeless. We have some exciting players such as Lallana, Holmes, Dyer, Schneiderlin, possibly Gasmi, Lancashire and to some extent McGoldrick if he is consistent. I'll happily watch them, and if I wasn't working 7 days a week, 10 hours a day to fund a gap year, I would be. Every week.

I think he's a good player, we need to stick with him this season. With the lack of other real options in our squad, we can only do the best with what we have.
-
Not Jan's fault, not anyones IMO this season. We were always going to struggle, and I think that this team could still stay up, myself.
-
Don't think we should give up on him yet, probably our weakest CM on recent performances but he could pick it up again. Really impressed me home to Brum in the league, but he was really awful vs Blackpool and QPR.

How do people understand that it was ALWAYS going to be this way this season. You cannot sell as many players as we did and expect results to get better. I, for one, am perfectly happy with what the club is doing, though. It is the only option that they have, try to utilise the promising youth and enable them to progress and become a good Championship side for the future. We'll lose a lot, probably play quite well in most of them, but there should be some good results there too. 21st would be a great season, hopefully the wage structure we have in place now should enable us to resist offers for Lallana in January or next summer, although that may be too much to ask from Lowe. What needs to be done now is to shore up the defence. Going forward I think we have enough, more than some other teams that will be down the bottom, but we need experienced fullbacks. Lloyd James is a young central midfielder, not a Championship quality right back (this smacks of Rory Delap 2004/5 season). Andrew Surman has been one of our worst players this season IMO, and he was hardly impressive last year. I really hope other teams still rate him enough in January to offer 2-3million. Perry is a decent enough player still, and the jury is still out on Lancashire since we've only seen half an hour of him. We can only assume the worst for Michael Svensson, Jack Cork may have to step up and fill the void.
-
I disagree, vs Birmingham and Blackpool in particular he whipped ball after ball into dangerous areas, just nobody had made the runs required.
-
An experiment that, after the game at Pride Park, was being proclaimed as genius.
-
I can't understand some of these reactions, how did we expect anything other than these kind of games? Lowe is keeping our head above water financially, he is doing what he has to do. The quality just isnt there. As I said before the season started, 21st would be a huge achievement.
-
I dont think its a case of the others not caring, more that some of them just arent good enough.
-
The team he moved to was also relegated...
-
Blimey, what a player, so many great memories.
-
18 now, time to grow up (and save money for gap year). I promise to get another ST once I retire....
-
Wow the doom and gloom has well and truly returned hasnt it! I fail to understand how the optimism has evaporated so quickly after one game that, while not being great, wasnt too terrible a performance. The fans need to be level-headed and to understand that our team will most likely struggle this season. Survival would be excellent IMO, then we can improve on it the next year.
-
Absolutely disagree. Dyer didnt have a great game, no doubt about that, he struggled to beat his man, but McGoldrick looked great to me. These are the players we need to rely on to improve and grow over the season if we are to survive. They both had better games than Gillett, who barely put a foot right all game. Svensson had a nightmare trying to deal with their big forward, who won every header. We need to be much less dramatic with our reactions to these games, a win and a great performance doesnt mean we're safe from relegation, in the same way as a disappointing defeat doesnt mean we'll never recover. McGoldrick looks ten times the player he was last season or the season before, I hope he continues to improve.
