Well now you really are ITK Ponty, as Ricky and I will be doing a celebratory tribute version of Renee and Renata's "Saving all my love for you" at the Red Lion karaoke night this evening (7.30 p.m. K.O - ROAR)

I don't know if anybody else has mentioned this yet, but Pinnacle's offices - if memory serves - were on the Avenue, just down from the Cowherds. Well, if that was the case, then it certainly isn't the case any more; walked past them on Saturday and no sign of Pinnacle anywhere.....

Signings to surpise and please fans soon - Cortesse

I thought that was rather good Arizona even if nobody else got it ;-) -
I would add to this that I find it hypocritical and not a little ironic that people choose to single out immigrants for verbal and physical attack, labelling them as freeloaders, when every day I drive past many of this country's finest indigenous youth doing the square root of **** all and then complaining that their benefits don't stretch to 20 Marlboro a day, an XBox 360 and a Plasma TV. Perhaps we should look a little closer to home at a generation of British people either too lazy, or too comfortable to seek/do work whilst the immigrants they and others seek to criticise are actually trying to achieve something.

Why are we talking to Notlob?

If you liked City of God, which is indeed excellent, try and watch the documentary Bus 174 which chronicles the consequences of one individual's abandonment by Rio's authorities as he makes his way out of the Favelas to hijack a bus full of commuters. Absolutely riveting throughout.

Very good. Just in case anybody is interested - pauses - the extract is from a superb German film called "Downfall". Well worth seeing if you are a film and / or history buff.

Can we call it a schism? I feel we need some old school religious factions on the forum :-)

Possibly the most sensible, rational, intelligent, head-screwed-on-properly post of recent weeks and most certainly the most reasonable explanation of the current situation. Oh for a few more Pandas and fewer drama queens. Nobody minds a good debate - quite the opposite! - but some of the ill-informed hysteria on here at the moment is mind-boggling. We have gone from almost having no club to having a club with a successful owner and a brighter future. Incredible that anybody can find something to complain about in that respect.

They have always been my lucky charm on the way round the M25 from Kent down to SMS. The more "Saints" lorries I see, the greater our margin of victory. It's worked well for me, I feel.... :-)

Terribly sorry - didn't realise we'd been introduced. Judging from your intellectually astute riposte, you must be here to tell me which part of what I said is untrue; or did I miss that bit?

To my mind, not treating the supporters as morons there to sate a cashflow need, not referring to them [us] as customers, not holding up a piece of paper at an AGM claiming that it is a letter congratulating you on the wonderful job you are doing, and not going down the road of employing a fourth-rate, inexperienced coach whose hands are tied and who is told to play only kids, whilst at the same time not bull****ting the fanbase that we are destined for glory......is definitely evidence of doing things more professionally.

I don't imagine for one minute that ML has bought Saints simply to see it ticking over as a run-of-the-mill League 1 club. He has already stated his intention to see the club back to where it belongs (PL) and again I cannot imagine that he is naive enough to believe that this will happen wihout any investment whatsoever. My feeling is that when action is required (i.e. his manager comes to him and says that we desperately need such or such a player to push on) that he will listen, and in the majority of cases - since AP is his appointment - he will grant the request. This isn't going to be a short-term effort and we will need to be patient, but when push comes to shove I believe we will have more up our sleeves than any other team in this league. Thus far, I am impressed by what I have - or perhaps that should be have not! - heard from our new owners, as they get on with things quietly, efficiently and professionally; all of which we have almost forgotten about given the last 10 years of mismanagement of one sort and another.

Best call so far IMO; wasn't he canned by the FA recently though? -

Not sure of motive for news embargo, but I doubt any of us could claim that there has been a steady flow of news coming out of SMS since ML took charge. They, quite rightly, appear to be keeping their own counsel on important matters until such time as a deal is done or a decision made. As for your second point Nick, I don't live in the Southampton area any more so don't know if there is more in the paper Echo than online but if I am playing devil's advocate I could say that the Cortese (sp?) quotations could have been delivered to a wider audience than just the Echo and picked up at the press conference. ALso, when re-reading the Oldknow article on the Echo site today it is noticeable that there is not a single direct quotation. All of which, I suppose, could lend a degree of credence to the original poster's claim of a news embargo. Just passing on what I saw. As I say I have no knowledge of the poster or his/her authenticity / reliability, but felt it was interesting and detailed enough to merit cutting and pasting.

If memory serves s/he (not sure which!) was aware of the Swiss completing before others and that Wotte would get the chop. I don't know the person who posted these comments and just happened to notice them whilst idling through the usual nonsense on the Echo site but -spellings aside - I am prepared to give him/her the benefit of the doubt before disbelieving. If it's a load of horse manure, then it's a load of horse manure; we lose nothing by waiting, seeing....hoping.

How bored does Wotton look??! And could Lloyd not find any proper boots?!

From the Echo comments pages today. Cannot vouch for its veracity, but the poster is always very assured in his comments and has been correct on a number of previous issues. We'll have to wait and see I suppose... "As posted yesterday. Strachen will be announced tomorrow or Thursday. He was at the airport seeing off his wife. Info is from the inside. No news because there is an embargo. Appointment was prepared 10 days ago. Transfer targets (out and in) are already in place. Appointment is 5 year contract with performance payments (significant ones) linked to promotions, one to championship, then CCC to Premiership. Affordable entry cost but huge financial incentive to be successful. Echo have missed this because they aren't connected inside the new regime. New team are cautious of Echo news style and approach in this important transition and new start period. The news out is being managed very carefully hence Echo's thin news stream since the takeover. Just look back at stories on saints since then. You won't find anything of substance or value.

If anybody with kids has bought Richard Hammond's book about the science of cars, have a look at the picture of the Liebherr T282 - as tall as a small house and over 3000BHP, capable of carrying over 500 tonnes of mining rubble. Put that at the centre of our defence next season and we're sorted; more mobility than Thomas too.... :-)

SInce Fry stated yesterday that he is committed to completing with the current bidders - in language which, for administrators, comes as close as is humanly possible to stating that it is a done deal - I would not worry about this pack of jokers.

I just want this to end, one way or another.

Weirdly, for the first time in months, my 4 year old son decided - voluntarily - to wear his yellow Saints kit today. He obviously knew something was about to happen...
