  1. It was the second half He wasn't having a barney, you could see he couldn't hear or understand what RK was telling him, first half he was aware of where the sideline was and stayed in safe proximity of it. Second half as it wore on he was creeping into the middle more and further up the field, he probably didn't realise that he was doing it, hence not being sure of what Ronald was telling him to do. i thought he had a sound game, played some lovely balls (I liked he take down and lay off to Mané in the build up to Longs goal) I just don't get the venomous hatred directed to some players on here, they all drop clangers the only trouble is a defender when they err it normally ends up as a goal........ and when your name is a bit funny like Cucu then it's open season to some. Has anyone seen back that Virgil maisey run where it appeared he was wrongly flagged offside?
  2. Too big, buy the first or last of the season that's it, use to buy the A5 size every game.
  3. Doesn't it mean that the team in 4th gets gazumped for CL, as by winning Europa Liverpool would qualify automatically for the CL and 4th gets the Europa spot? Or is the CL spot for winning Europa a Willy Wonka'esk golden ticket? If it's the forma, a few club bean counters are going to be scratching their heads, especially with Leicester and Spurs muddying the water!
  4. Maybe the penny begun to drop with him that come the summer the gravy train will have come to the end of the line, so he had better put himself in the shop window to find the next one to hop onto. Remember that Saganowski chap when we had him on loan he was superb, when we signed him permanently he instantly became a shadow of the player we were encouraged to sign up. Another 2, Rasiak and Skacel, they always seemed to just do enough never anymore, we played Norwich the night before the transfer window closed, losing 1-0, the pair of them were on the pitch and put in performances that had more than one person in the Chapel cynically muttering the pair of them will be drug tested after the game. The next day the pair of them were shipped out on loan. I was manoeuvred out of a company once due to structural changes, I was buying my first house at the same time, a meeting I had with my superiors to begin them formalising the process had me thinking I have been stitched up here: blimey I had better get on my bike and get something sorted, otherwise I am in the mire. When the guaranteed axe fell I had already sorted myself out quite nicely. Although not quite the same but if the clock is ticking towards £60k a week being switched off most folks with any gumption will be pulling their finger out to get something to fill that hole. If someone in Saints has even had the merest thought to keep him on based on his recent performances, they really need to be blindfolded and put infront of a wall.
  5. Here's the bit from the Leicester fan
  6. Now we have the automated turnstiles you have to be a bit careful because if you notice as you go through there is often a steward standing on the other side, next time you go through (without getting in the way) turn around and look at the lights at the top of the turnstiles each one has a coloured light box and as folks come through they light up in the sequence to correspond with the ticket type Adult - Nipper - Conssession so if you are going to blag it best send a blocker through to ask the steward a question needing directions. When our Girls had STs in the family section a couple of times I was able to trade up to an adult, which needed handing over the ST at the ticket office in exchange for a normal ticket and paying the difference.
  7. Got to leave something to read........ No doubt his post match comment about coming away with a good result, a varied assortment of fruit and veg, plus £4.20 in loose change (something along those lines) will be in there.
  8. Likewise I do believe we were royaly spoilt rotten as nippers Billy. Winning the FA Cup, promotion back to the 1st Division, holding our own against the top dogs (4-1 against European Champions Forest springs to mind) League Cup Final (which Lawrie got me tickets for) Cup runs, runners up to the Champions, European footie, and not forgetting one of the biggest all time coups in Football, signing European Footballer of the year and England superstar Kevin Keegan. Feats yet to be eclipse by any of his successors. And from my experience a decent chap with it.
  9. You hope to goodness that is a crock, not just for us but more for his once in a generation summer adventure!!
  10. Like I have said before when the Matt Targett knockers spawn yet another negative thread. I have a friend/customer who was on the books of Bristol City, then Villa playing against the likes of Shearer, Matty, and the Wallaces when they were academy players, sadly he had a teenage brainfart and blew it, but he knows his onions when watching football and his analysis of players is pretty spot on (great to sit next to at a game) when Luke Shaw was with us on more than one occasion he would ask "whats the name of the young blonde left sided defender from your academy?" I would reply Luke Shaw to which he would reply with a grin "no not him he's rubbish!". When I said Matt Targett "yup that's the one". He reckons he will be a far better player than Shaw will ever be, as with Shaw that's it, he's hit his ability ceiling, just experience of playing as he gets older and who he plays for will give him the longevity, whereas Targett has more footballing technical assets to mature with. Like I say this guy will discuss a player from whatever team and he will just say watch him do this and that and these are his failings and he is spot on 99 times out of 100. I guess being a defender you learn to read who is running at you and look for the weakness. Personally I never feel uneasy when Matts name is read out in the starting line-up, yes he makes the odd error, but then so does the whole defense (how was Clasie the only "defender" in front of goal when a cross was obviously going to come in for Morgan to flick in on Sunday?". I have also seen him do stuff especially down in the Chapel Kingsland corner that made me think how the hell did you get out of there. Matt is only 20 just cut him some slack, its real live football not Fifa whatevertheyearis computer game cobblers. But then I think Steven Davis is a major cog in our squad............ which obviously equates to me knowing absolute chuff all about football.
  11. I quite fancied a trip on the train for a 3pm kick off, indulge in a few drinks have a meal out in London afterwards and amble home sometime Saturday night..... nice lay-in Sunday morning.
  12. I don't think the online system does us any favours on selling tickets. Both my daughters work weekends evenings all sorts, on the odd occasion we have found ourselves in a position to all go and I have gone online to get them tickets. They both like sitting lower down so search for suitable seats and where there is 3 seats available, in the vicinity of where they want to sit, I can't buy 2 seats? as the computer says it will leave 1 seat please make another selection, to get those seats you have to phone up the ticket office which is not manned at 20;45 at night. You would think first come first served would apply and just sell the seat. We have missed out a few times....... I guess there is a regularity of 3 seats being sold.
  13. If Cedric is playing, he better be kept in "after school" for throw-in practice, 2 games running he has been pinged by the officials for a foul throw, yesterdays was a wtf??!! Once in a season is a rarity in itself these days, but 2 games in a row is verging on unforgivable.
  14. Just about right, 1st half young Matty out on the left in space looking to cross a couple of times with no-one showing for it. On one occasion he fired it in it came to nowt and his body language was does no body want this ball. All the Pelle defenders are pushing water up hill on yesterday's performance ambling about, getting caught in possession time and again, not being right place on time. One that does stick out is Ryan In the box out left lashes it into the side netting, being at the other end of the ground you thought his body language was a bit p'd off, watching back on MOTD you could see why he was hacked off Pelle had joined the Leicester defence with his back to goal and blocking Ryan's route to goal instead of being in a position snap something up and score...... Which explains the wtf lassez faire strike from Bertrand. Something more of concern, there seemed to be a bit more arguing between our players than usual. Fair play to Leicester they got their snouts in front and were disciplined in seeing the game out, it's safe to say they are men on a mission, none of them superstars just a band of brothers working hard for each other. Ah well at least I got something from the game: One of the Owners a Happy Birthday Donuts......... Strangely in the shape of our score.
  15. Get JWP on the pitch to fizz in some free kicks right onto VVDs head
  16. This sounds great: good video too https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/657131/Stunning-Arsenal-revelations-Emirates-to-install-sunroof-star-players-reveal-their-views
  17. Still think Flair Polo kit manufacturers name anagram was the best, the meltdown that caused was fantastic, especially being qualified by the Echo who themselves were deluged by complaints from incandescent Saints fans.
  18. "For some time, my wife’s had this ridiculous idea that I’m playing too much golf. Actually, it came to a head at about 11.30 last night. She suddenly shouted at me: ‘Golf, golf, golf. All you ever think about is bloody golf!’ And I’ll be honest, it frightened the life out of me. I mean, you don’t expect to meet somebody on the 14th green at that time of night." RIP Ronnie Corbett
  19. I stand to be corrected - Wasn't there something previously about not having a betting company as it went against Markus Liebherrs ethos of not encouraging debt?
  20. At least the result last night will keep the KNVB from having to knock on his door with their tails between their legs for a bit longer.
  21. Never forget that night, 4 of us 40/50 somethings were transported back to our teens down the Dell. The clock was ticking down to us going out, Grant Holt was savagely hacked down by by a rogue blade of grass, he was bawling his eyes out at the ref (the silly sod was mithering without the presence of mind to slide his big bottom back on the pitch) who was having none of it. We were off like the Charge of the Light Brigade down the other end of the pitch for Papa Waigo to slot home the equaliser. Cue mad celebrations all around not least with us 4 idiots. The photo I like from the final (obvious one aside) was the one taken from behind the goal as Rickie took his penalty, the backdrop was a huge wraparound wall of Saints fans without an empty seat to be seen.
  22. I often thought it spooky that both times we were promoted to the top flight, before Football was invented by Sky, promotion was secured at Leyton Orient.
  23. Taken a bloody age for the penny to drop, you would have thought after being a season ticket holder in the directors box at SMS he would have cottoned on sooner, not a season and 3/4s later!!
  24. Thought that was a very refreshing England side, don't think I have cheered England goals on the TV with such gusto since SRL scored against the sweaty socks on his debut.
  25. Never been any different, its in our DNA, Lawrie McMenemy has always said it about Saints fans all the way back when he was the boss, the team need to get the fans going.
