  1. Have to say still buzzing after that, I guess that's why we like football. Most of the events have been covered above, that as one singing of OWTS with no stand lag was immense. One bit I did enjoy was being delivered onto the plains of Africa, Lallana has the ball and Vic decides to chase him down like a Big Cat chasing down an Antelope, Lallana was weaving this way and that and Vic just shadowed his every twist and turn, ending up with the ball being passed back towards his own goal.
  2. Belgium has its own problems with its own identity, nowhere is more than 2 hours from the sea, they have 2 languages which brings its own problems as one lot don't get on with the other as a rule. Then you have an area of the Capital, Molenbeek, which has become a predominantly Middle Eastern district. And because of the French (which many Arab countries speak as a second language) & Flemish speaking divide of Belgium Molenbeek has become a district of an ignored, or forgotten about, section of Belgian society due mainly to the main language divide with the indigenous citizens of Belgium. As a result if provides a perfect haven for the "nutters" to lurk without much fear of the authorities poking their nose into your nefarious business. The perpetrators of the Paris attacks were quickly identified as coming out of Belgium, and Molenbeek in particular. Belgium was horrified that Paris was traced back to Brussels "the Capital of Europe" they were also embarrassed that they had been caught stone cold with their eye off the ball in the full glare for the World to see, and very quickly pulled their finger out in an effort to get a grip. Mrs JBS and I were there only last weekend having a couple of nights rescheduled from November when Brussels was shut down after the Paris attack was traced back to Belgium, Brussels, and Molenbeek in particular, the very nice Hotel we stayed in was on the very south of Molenbeek, close to the Eurostar destination Brussels station. Being aware of recent events you couldn't help but notice just how Middle Eastern the area was, I hasten to add that you did not feel for one minute intimidated. Like with all things a minority tarnishes the majority. What was noticeable was the presence of the Belgian Army patrolling the streets right through parts of the City we ambled through......... Paris was the same Saturday/Sunday a huge CRS presence down near La Place de la Concorde, all tooled up itching to swing into action: but then that is the CRS.
  3. Just thought I would punt this back onto the board as all the dates for this year are now booked. We are always looking for new members and you don't have to live on our doorstep to join, we even have members join us from London & Somerset. closing date for the next day out is next weekend. http://www.chinehamgolfsociety.co.uk/welcome/4559720954
  4. No we are the People's Front of Judea
  5. You call me big nose one more time I'll take you to the ****ing cleaners!
  6. ....... Come on Napalm, I'll play :-) Blessed are the cheese makers
  7. Be nice to put a twist in everyone's knickers and beat them all, which in turn slides us nicely up the table into and around the top 4 and/or automatic European football. Resulting in a table that finishes with some unfamiliar faces in the top slots and a postmortem of epic proportions as Leicester, Spurs, West Ham (jeez that hurt) Us top the tree. With Man U (who are blowing hot and cold) Citeh (who with a fair CL draw could be distracted: plus Kompany is shot) Arsenal (who's season is in danger of fizzling out spectacularily: especially as they look fragile) and Liverpool (persueing the Europa success) scrap it out for Thursday night football. And just for fun Bournemouth get a cheeky run together and enter the fray like a young Jack Russell slipping the leash in a field of sheep. .............. Morning folks: I just had the weirdest dream.
  8. Very apt headline. i just can't get Fabrice "crop circles" Fernandes out of my head when watching Dusan, likewise gifted with a ball at their feet, and likewise for some reason needing to prove they are gifted whilst sucking more and more players into the vortex of their own creation whilst everyone else admires the surroundings for a while. The photo and caption at the end made me think of Graziano nicking the ball off Tadics toe at Chelsea to set Manė up, almost like "oh bugger he's going to start figure of 8 dicking around again".
  9. What Corky says, with an apt edit.
  10. I Have to say getting a text off from a friend, as one was strolling down the Champs Elysėes, to reveal the result was most pleasant. Even Mrs JBS commented what could be better - a surprise trip to Paris for her and Saints winning away.
  11. When your boss is Mike "old Mother" Riley, a very arrogant whatsit it is no surprise.
  12. You are right........... we are of course the invisible team.
  13. Pretty sure the tater said him missing Stoke and Tottingham one of them being a cup game
  14. Just Watching the Palace game and spotted John Salako is part of the back room team....... Does that man never age??!! Just looked him up on Wikipedia and was shocked to see he is 47 yet still looks like he is in his 20's
  15. You're a triffic bloke Ronald, but I'm telling you, that you wouldn't be where you are today if it wasn't for me.
  16. A perfect game for him, one superstar shining brightly on a pitch with no-one of any significance to cloud the view, and the added bonus of it being on TV.
  17. The Officials have communications, he should have kept his finger on his flag button and told him "no the other way" as he signalled the wrong advantage. What is the point of having technology assistance, if you ain't going to use it as it should be used.
  18. That was the punch in the guts. in the build up to the match when I posted Atkinsons appointment I felt that he was one of the better ones, someone pulled me up quoting Wikipedia saying he was prone to game changing mistakes: well that one played out with his overriding of the Lino. A draw would have been acceptable as we weren't on top form and Chelsea despite all the possession weren't that dangerous. i do feel that bringing on Pelle was a wasted substitution, Chelsea must have thought it was Christmas when Long went off to be replaced with a less mobile player, whereas Mane coming on for long would have replaced speed with speed. Lets hope today is a kick in the pants and we are back at the races on Tuesday.
  19. I always felt he pulled in too many of his old players/mates from his UK managerial tour. They played like the manager was their mate which gave them the air of putting in a 50% performance without the fear of castigation.
  20. See we have Martin Atkinson on the whistle for this one. Seems a bit better than the rest, been doing well in the CL games I have seen him officiate, doesn't appear to get conned by the rolling about just been shot by a sniper in the floodlights that goes on in the Eurpoean games.
  21. hmmmmm technical malfunction or fat fingers - wrong fred
  22. Wouldn't worry too much......... I can't remember which under crackers are the un lucky ones this season!!
  23. Kept that quiet. Bet the media team are upset to have missed that Gig, hope they don't find it too chilly then on Saturday with a forecast chill blowing in this week.
  24. Bit of a funny one this, having been off for 2 weeks you would think that we might be a bit rusty, but then this time last year we went on the jolly to Switzerland, this year we seem to have kept the players ticking over in training, which will hopefully make them hungry to get into action come 3pm on Saturday. Having watched Chelsea on TV during the last 3 games I don't think there is much to fear, as Newcastle looked pretty poor through their own doing rather than Chelsea putting them under the cosh, the goal fest only occurred due to the Toon players giving up. Man City yesterday was a bit of joke with only 2 recognisable players in the line up and the rest made up of players wearing shirts numbered 56 61 etc, there was no understanding between the Citeh players who were trying rehearsed on PlayStation passes to fresh air, more often than not. PSG were different though, organised and comfortable with each other, it showed in the result. Chelsea looked like an opposition team who would have turned up at Stamford Bridge last season in the hope of the wind being in the right direction to nick a result. Having missed West Ham due to work, at nearly a month without live football before my eyes I am certainly looking forward to Saturday afternoon.
  25. This falls down the forum menu page far too quickly! Being a busy boy last week I missed the latest edition, still reading it this morning feels like we never exited the cup an earlier round.
